This is an exceptional opportunity for a senior tax professional who thrives in both strategic planning and operational leadership. You'll work in close partnership with firm leadership to provide proactive tax solutions for a diverse client portfolio that includes high-net-worth individuals, growing private companies, and trust/estate matters. As a visible leader, you'll play a critical role in driving quality, compliance, and innovation across all tax engagements.
What You'll Own:
Lead and manage a dedicated tax team of 7 , providing technical guidance, training, and performance feedback
Deliver advanced planning strategies across corporate, personal, and trust taxation with a focus on long-term value creation
Act as a key advisor on client matters such as owner-manager tax planning, succession strategies, and estate optimization
Oversee the preparation and review of complex tax returns, ensuring compliance and alignment with Canada Revenue Agency requirements
Collaborate directly with firm Partners to scope, execute, and deliver tax engagements that exceed client expectations
Monitor and implement legislative tax changes, advising clients and internal stakeholders accordingly
Contribute to business development efforts through strategic relationship building, networking, and proposal review
Champion a collaborative, client-first culture that aligns with the firm's growth and service excellence
What You Bring:
CPA designation (in good standing)
Successful completion of the CPA Canada In-Depth Tax Program
A minimum of 10 years of progressive tax experience within public practice
Advanced knowledge of Canadian taxation for corporations, individuals, estates, and trusts
Proven ability to manage and review complex tax planning files
Strong familiarity with CRA compliance requirements , audit processes, and deadlines
Experience using CCH TaxPrep and CaseWare for tax preparation and file management
Leadership capabilities that include mentorship, accountability, and client communication skills
Compensation & Benefits:
Base Salary Range: $150,000 - $180,000 CAD (commensurate with experience)
Bonus Structure: Performance-based, with criteria shared during final interview stages
Work Location: On-site at the firms Richmond Hill headquarters (hybrid options available post-onboarding)
Relocation Support: Not available at this time

# **Job Summary**
As our Vice President, ESS, you will be the strategic force driving Compass’s growth and operational excellence in remote services across Canada. Reporting directly to the President, ESS North America, the VP will serve as a key partner in driving enterprise-wide initiatives while managing operational execution with precision and rigor. This role exists to balance strategic growth with operational accountability—freeing up presidential capacity to focus on broader business imperatives. This pivotal new role balances enterprise-level initiatives with disciplined execution, expanding Compass’s presence in the Canadian remote services market while upholding its core values —translating bold vision into day-to-day execution while inspiring a national team of senior leaders.
Drive strategic initiatives across the ESS portfolio to drive operational excellence
- Partner with the President to shape enterprise and market-level strategy while taking ownership of day-to-day operations to serve as a trusted second-in-command, ensuring detailed execution of initiatives and business goals
- Own budgetary planning, forecasting, and financial performance of the ESS business by strengthening pricing, margin management, and cost discipline across services
- Collaborate with cross-functional leaders to align goals, streamline execution, and embed accountability
- Institutionalize process rigor, compliance standards, and performance metrics
- Lead initiatives to improve data integrity, reporting, and KPI visibility across the ESS operation
- Champion Compass's operating model and embed the Compass Way in all functions
- Lead a national team of senior leaders and foster a culture of empowerment and ownership

- 10+ years of progressive executive leadership experience in healthcare, laboratory, facilities, or regulated services environments
- Proven P&L leadership of national or large-scale operations (>$150M)
- Exceptional process management, planning, and integration experience
- Demonstrated ability to build, lead, and engage cross-functional teams in complex organizations
- Strong financial acumen and comfort with managing margin performance, budgeting, and forecasting
- Client-centric mindset with experience managing key accounts and customer success strategies
- Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) and/or relevant professional designation preferred.
- 30% of time spent travelling, both in site visits and stakeholder meetings.
