About the Role
This role supports the manager of Engineering IT for Canada by providing direct embedded support services within our Engineering department services at the WESCAM division. Primary Responsibilities

Required Capabilities
+ Proficiency in Linux endpoint management.

+ Experience with virtualization platforms (VMware, Nutanix) and cloud services (AWS, Azure, GCP, etc.).
+ Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Bash, Python) is a plus.
+ Familiarity with monitoring tools (Grafana, Nagios, Zabbix, Prometheus, etc.).
+ Experience with version control systems (Git) and CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI).

Compensation:

Position Summary
The System Administrator is crucial in managing and optimizing the organization's and its customers' IT infrastructure. - Training in Autodesk and, Hexagon products.

- Diploma or degree in Computer Science or related IT discipline.
- 5+ years' experience in IT infrastructure, systems administration, or related fields.
- Hands-on experience with Windows Server (20162025), virtualization platforms (Hyper-V, VMware), and Fortinet networks.
- Proficiency in Veeam, Azure (Defender for Cloud, Arc, virtual networks, storage, compute, virtual desktops).
- Proven ability to lead IT project and implement infrastructure solutions.
- Understanding of IT operations, security, and industry best practices.
- Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills (verbal and written).
- Self-motivated, innovative, and eager to adopt new technologies.
- Effective time management with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
- Physically capable of lifting servers and equipment (2550 lbs).
- Valid driver's license and ability to work on-site.
- Availability to support after-hours maintenance, upgrades, and on-call support as needed.

Your Role
As a System Administrator, you will be responsible for the management, maintenance, and continuous improvement of Microsoft Windows Server environments (20162025) across multiple companies. This includes ensuring system availability, performance, security, and business continuity. You will also support and enhance network and telecommunications infrastructure while identifying opportunities for innovation, cost optimization, and operational excellence.
You'll play a vital role in supporting organizations such as Murphy's Pharmacies, Andrews Senior Care, and Atlantic Medical Centres, with operations in PEI, NL, NB, and ON.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provision, configure, maintain, and support Microsoft Windows Server environments. Includes patch management, data backup (Veeam), and disaster recovery (Azure, Wasabi).
- Develop and maintain operational procedures to ensure server reliability and availability.
- Diagnose and resolve issues related to Windows servers and hosted business applications.
- Assist with administration and support of Fortinet-based network infrastructure, including switches, firewalls, wireless access points, and documentation (e.g., network diagrams).
- Perform regular maintenance, updates, and performance tuning of server and network infrastructure.
- Monitor systems and network performance to identify opportunities for cost efficiency and productivity improvements.
- Lead IT infrastructure projects, from design and planning through to deployment and support.
- Contribute to IT infrastructure strategy, architecture, and governance.
- Define, recommend, and enforce IT policies, standards, and procedures to align with organizational goals.
- Assist with change management related to server and network environments.
- Stay current with emerging technologies; research, evaluate, and recommend tools that enhance operations.
- Collaborate with IT team members and business stakeholders to meet project and support objectives.
- Promote continuous improvement and agile methodologies within the IT team.
- Perform other duties as required
