What you’ll be doing:
Working closely with the Manager, you’ll be responsible for the day-to-day operations in the barn. This includes a variety of physical tasks such as pushing, pulling, bending, lifting (up to 25kg), and continuous walking. Your daily responsibilities will include:
- Feeding and providing general care for pigs.
- Maintaining herd health and clean and safe environment for pigs.
- Pressure washing and preparing rooms for animal entry.
- Performing minor maintenance and sanitation tasks.
- Completing clerical duties such as maintaining door charts, inventory trackers, and ordering feed and medication.
- Following all health and safety policies and adhering to Canada Packers’ SOPs for humane animal treatment.
- Commitment to wearing proper PPE and following safety protocols.
- Availability for weekend, holiday, and alarm shifts on a rotational basis.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to a rural location.
- Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple priorities and complex tasks simultaneously.
- Strong communication skills (oral and written)
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills

- Experience in hog production is an asset.

We are a hospital with 2 hard-working DVMs and a passionate support team. We are currently in the building stages of a brand new location 2 blocks up from our existingu00a0location. Our ideal Registered Veterinary Tech (RVT) builds positive client relationships by displaying genuine care and compassion towards clients and their pets, being respectful in all interactions and providing exceptional customer service. The RVT also assists the Veterinarian with medical, surgical and dental procedures, by using a range of diagnostic equipment, preparing patients, instruments and equipment for surgery; and administering and monitoring medicines under the direction of a Veterinarian.
u00a0We are a hospital open 7 days a week, and we are in need of consistent Sunday coverage to supplement our existing Sunday team.
