**Job Title: Material Handler**
**Job Description**
The Material Handler will initiate their shift with a pre-use inspection to ensure equipment safety, adhering to safe work requirements. Responsibilities include operating a side loader Combi or Hubtex Stand-up Forklift, using a counterbalance forklift or overhead crane, packaging orders, and moving materials with overhead cranes. The role also involves banding materials with steel or plastic binders, protecting materials with wood, plastic, or other materials, and shipping orders using internal systems. You will load trucks using overhead cranes and forklifts, manage paperwork, and work collaboratively with a team of around nine people. Additional duties include preparing packaging for the next day, general clean-up of workstations, and cross-training in saw cutting, shipping, and receiving. Safety is of utmost importance in this role.
**Responsibilities**
Conduct pre-use inspections to ensure equipment safety.
Operate side loader Combi, Hubtex Stand-up Forklift, counterbalance forklift, and overhead crane.
Package orders by moving materials with overhead cranes and banding them with steel or plastic binders.
Protect materials using wood, plastic, or other materials.
Ship orders using internal systems and load trucks with overhead cranes and forklifts.
Manage shipping paperwork.
Collaborate with a team of around nine people.
Prepare packaging for the following day.
Perform general clean-up of workstations.
Participate in cross-training for saw cutting, shipping, and receiving.
**Essential Skills**
1-2 years of SDCB Forklift experience.
General labor and production experience.
Experience in shipping or packaging in an industrial environment.
Ability to use an imperial tape measure.
Material handling skills.
**Additional Skills & Qualifications**
Experience in steel industrial environments is an asset.
Overhead crane experience (OHC) and inventory management skills.
First aid certification pays an additional $0.40/hour for level one, and $.10/hour for levels two or three.

- Work from written or verbal instructions from team lead, system generated picking documents and established work routines.
- Verify that part numbers match packing slips and that quantities are correct.
- Receive incoming parts on the dock and/or Truck Bay, relocate them and ensure they are allocated to proper locations, filing receiving paperwork.
- Prepare items for shipment by assembling containers, posting weights and affixing proper postage and paperwork.
- Pick, pack, move, put away, wrap, and load skids of various dimensions and weights.
- Interface with warehouse office, customer service, drivers and carriers to ensure proper delivery.
- Pick and count material of various weights and sizes accurately.
- Support and assist team members with various tasks throughout the warehouse.
- Support Dock activities when required.
- Operate lift equipment safely to move material in and out of high bay racking and around the plant.
- Perform cycle counts and audits.
- Work with management team and coworkers to create a safety first and continuous improvement culture.
- Solve routine warehouse problems.
- Empty bins (Wood, Wire, Steel, Garbage, Cardboard).
- Solve Pending transactions.

Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits. **KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:**
+ High school diploma or equivalent education required.
+ 2 years' experience working as a material handler in a manufacturing environment.
+ Two years of experience carefully handling precision machined components using motorized carts, forklifts, and overhead cranes.
+ Attention to detail and organization.
+ Demonstrable ability as an adaptable team player with strong communication and problem-solving abilities.
+ Strong ability to work independently to complete assignments promptly while maintaining the high standards required in our industry.
+ Certified forklift and crane training an asset.
The base salary range for this position in Ontario at the start of employment is expected to be between $43,000 and $64,000 per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided at such time the selected job candidate receives an offer of employment.
