Job Summary:

As a Dietary Aide , you will play a key role in supporting the preparation and delivery of nutritious meals to residents. Your work ensures that residents enjoy high-quality food service in a clean, safe, and welcoming environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Set up and adjust dining areas, ensuring cleanliness and accessibility

  • Assist in meal preparation and cooking under the direction of kitchen management

  • Deliver meals and food trays to residents on schedule

  • Clear dishes, utensils, and trays after meals

  • Dispose of waste and maintain cleanliness in kitchen and dining areas

  • Maintain sanitary and organized food stations for daily meals and special events

  • Monitor inventory and report low-stock items to management

  • Assist with meal planning based on dietary requirements and budget guidelines

  • Comply with all food safety and infection control protocols

Qualifications & Requirements:
  • Food Handler Certificate Required

  • Food Service Worker Certificate Required

  • 6-12 months of food service experience, preferably in healthcare or LTC

  • Experience preparing meals in a large-scale setting

  • Basic knowledge of kitchen equipment and appliances

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

  • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physically demanding tasks

  • Ability to lift and transport food trays and carts

  • Willingness to work weekends and holidays as needed

  • Valid police reference check and vulnerable sector screening Required

  • Proof of negative TB test (within 1 year) or chest X-ray (within 5 years)

Schedule & Availability:
  • Casual / On-Call position

  • Flexibility to work a variety of shifts including weekends and holidays is preferred

The Village of Winston Park located in Kitchener, Ontario has an exciting opportunity for a Part Time Recreation Team Member to join their Long Term Care team.

Part Time Shift Details: Availability is required on alternate Monday's (10am-6pm), Saturday's (8am-4pm), Sunday's (8am-4pm), Thursday's (10am-6pm) - 30 hrs biweekly

As a new Recreation Team Member joining our Village, you will:

  • Support and embrace our resident-centered social culture and be proud to deliver the highest quality of recreational programing to our residents. You will work as key members of our Village and neighbourhood multidisciplinary teams to understand residents’ individual needs, and advocate for residents to actively participate in decisions about their care.
  • Recreation Team Members at Schlegel Villages foster exemplary relationships with residents, their families and the Village team to deliver holistic care that focusses on flexible living and quality of life.
  • Recreation Team Members assist our residents by the planning and implementing programs that contribute to a resident’s holistic health care goals, as outlined in Care Plans (including RAI MDS-Raps, Coding and Activities Initial Assessment), by encouraging physical, emotional, spiritual, social and cognitive growth for residents.

To be successful as our new Recreation Team Member, you will:

  • Be enrolled in/completed diploma or degree recreation/leisure studies and/or gerontology from a community college or university.
  • Be excited by our objectives, our Village philosophy and the family values that shape all aspects of life in a Schlegel Village.
  • Display a caring and respectful attitude toward our residents, families, and team members.

It would be an asset if our new Recreation Team Member has:

  • Knowledge of the five domains in Therapeutic Recreation that contribute to an individual’s health.
  • Knowledge of recreational therapy practices, methods, techniques and opportunities to improve resident’s well-being and holistic health.
  • An understanding of the relevant sections of the Long-Term Care Homes Act, 2007.
