Job Duties:

  • Respond to incoming service tickets from various locations in a timely manner
  • Perform general building maintenance and repairs such as electrical, plumbing, painting, patching walls, and hanging shelves
  • Troubleshoot facility equipment issues to determine necessary repairs
  • Assess repair projects for required supplies and equipment
  • Conduct routine maintenance tasks such as changing light bulbs and door locks
  • Maintain property appearance by removing garbage, mowing lawns, landscaping and snow removal
  • Perform other duties and tasks as required

Ideal Requirements:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in general maintenance or other maintenance positions where you were required to recognize electrical, plumbing, and mechanical malfunctions or equipment failures.
  • Able to operate equipment such as a riding lawn mower, skid steer, payloader, and telehandler, as well as pull various trailers with a pickup truck
  • Formal training in operating a payloader, telehandler, or skid steer is preferred.
  • Formal training in HVAC, plumbing and electrical systems or related fields is an asset.
  • Able to maintain a professional demeanour and appearance while working at our customer’s locations
  • Able to perform physically demanding work, which includes standing, walking, crouching and the ability to lift 50 lbs
  • The ability and willingness to travel to locations outside of Lethbridge
  • Available to work at varying times, dependent on the work that needs to be completed
  • A Valid Driver’s License and a clean 3-year drivers abstract
  • 3 years of verifiable insurance driving with a clean insurance record

Job Responsibilities

The Maintenance Assistant will be responsible to preserve the excellent condition and functionality of the premises. Reporting to the Senior Building Operator, Community Manager, and assisting the janitorial staff. The Maintenance Assistant's duties will include; conducting elevator monitoring services, janitorial services, inspections, garbage and recycling program, changing light bulbs, minor repairs, snow removal, as well as providing exceptional customer service to Clients.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:  

The job duties listed are typical examples of the work performed by positions in this job classification. Not all duties assigned to every position are included, nor is it expected that all positions will be assigned every duty:

  • Complete elevator monitoring services for the freight elevator for all move in/outs & deliveries (average 20 hours per week)
  • Providing an orientation of the loading dock and filling out condition checklists.
  • Complete garbage disposal and recycling disposal 5 times a week.
  • Conduct inspections on all site mechanical site common areas, electrical, and HVAC systems and related equipment.
  • Conduct amenity room inspections prior to and after bookings, ensuring the condition of the space is adequately documented before the event and following it.
  • Padding elevators for use during a move.
  • Complete work orders in a timely manner as assigned.
  • Follow preventative maintenance schedules and procedures.
  • Meeting contractors on site, providing access and orientation to the Property.
  • Continuous review of the mechanical rooms and hazardous locations.
  • Adhere to all health, safety and security procedure and report areas of concern to the appropriate parties.
  • Maintain the inventory records for equipment and supplies.
  • Responsible for providing coverage in the absence of other Maintenance Technicians.
  • Miscellaneous janitorial tasks.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:  

  • High school diploma or equivalent qualification.
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in general maintenance in a residential, commercial or retail environment is preferred.
  • Customer service experience is an asset.
  • Computer literate.

  • Responsible for assisting Maintenance Workers in providing maintenance services and identifying preventative and on-going maintenance needs.

  • Some familiarity with electricity, plumbing and carpentry and general maintenance repairs

  • Collaborate with community resources focused on wellness services and support, which may include cultural teachings, mental health and addictions supports, and other services.
  • Conducting assessments to identify the specific needs and goals of individuals and families and developing personalized support plans accordingly.
  • Implementing strategies and interventions to promote positive family dynamics and enhance communication and conflict resolution skills.
  • Monitoring progress and outcomes of support plans, adjusting strategies as necessary to ensure continued effectiveness.
  • Providing in-home support services, including assistance with daily living activities, household management, and transportation.
  • Fostering a safe and supportive environment that empowers families to explore and respond to their emotional and psychological needs.
  • Complete and submit required service documentation, including daily logs and incident reports.
  • Utilize a relationship-based approach to deescalating and responding to emergencies as they arise.
  • Maintain timely and effective communication with the holistic circle of care to support the care of youth.
  • Other duties as assigned.


EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum completion of high school; or a combination of education and related experience may be considered


REQUIREMENTS

  • Valid Class 5F Drivers license
  • Full access to a safe and insured vehicle; with a minimum of $2,000,000 liability
  • Satisfactory Criminal Record, Child Abuse Registry and Drivers Abstract
  • Active cellular phone


SPECIAL SKILLS

  • Excellent oral communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to write short or detailed contact notes
  • Valid First Aid and CPR Certification preferred
