Job Summary:
As the Gym Maintenance Lead, you will play a vital role in ensuring the seamless operation, maintenance, and cleanliness of our fitness facilities. Qualifications:
Previous experience in a maintenance or facilities management role, preferably in a gym or fitness center.
General knowledge of carpentry, electrical, mechanical, and plumbing
Strong knowledge of fitness equipment maintenance and safety standards.
Leadership and team management skills.
Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
Budget management and cost-control skills.

Job DescriptionThe Maintenance Lead Hand is responsible for overseeing the maintenance and repair of approximately 539 hotel rooms. This role ensures the comfort, safety, and functionality of the hotel by coordinating daily maintenance tasks, and responding to service requests. The Lead Hand plays a critical role in preventive maintenance planning, asset management, and ensuring compliance with safety and building codes.

Job Duties Include:
- Assign, complete, and monitor work orders, tasks, and schedules for hotel maintenance.
- Train, mentor, and provide feedback to maintenance team members.
- Perform repairs in plumbing, HVAC, electrical systems, appliances, drywall, painting, flooring, and general carpentry, with the support of trades, as required.
- Manage emergency maintenance issues promptly and professionally.
- Ensure guest rooms are repaired promptly.
- Implement and maintain a comprehensive preventive maintenance program with the support of the engineering office.
- Order and maintain inventory of required parts and supplies for all hotel maintenance.
- Keep detailed records of repairs, service requests, inspections, and inventory.

- Prior experience in a Maintenance Lead Hand or Supervisory role.
- Trade certification (e.g., journeyperson status in a mechanical or construction trade) an asset.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suites including Outlook, Excel and Word.
- Alberta Class 5 drivers licence and clean abstract required.
- Physically able to lift up to 50lbs and work at heights.

Interested in working at a ski resort in Big White this winter? We are currently looking for an exceptional individual to join our team as a Maintenance Lead. This person is a hard-working individual who will embody our values while ensuring the maintenance needs of all Vacasa properties are met. This person will help manage a small group of maintenance technicians and work closely with the local management team. We also manage a large portfolio of hot tubs that require frequent servicing, you will be expected to help assist and manage this (training provided). Hours can and will vary weekly and seasonally based on business needs, but will generally be a 5 days week schedule with two days off to enjoy the slopes.
This is a great role for someone looking to live on the mountain for the winter and experience a ski season at Big White. Shared room staff housing available (will discuss details in interview). Currently we have 1 spot available for this role.
This is a winter seasonal position. We are hiring for this position beginning on or around mid October 2025 and employment is expected to end on or around mid April 2026 . While the company is under no obligation to extend your employment through the season nor beyond the end date, there may be additional opportunities within this or other roles.
Compensation

What you'll do
- Assist in leading the maintenance operations in assigned location, traveling between multiple worksites each day
- Create a welcoming environment for our guests and owners by ensuring our homes are well maintained through preventative maintenance and regular inspections

- Order, maintain, and replenish maintenance supplies and inventory

Skills and Position Requirements

- Utilize equipment troubleshooting skills to solve complex issues.
- Organize resources on the floor and provide guidance to the team to address equipment issues.
- Liaise with different stakeholders to coordinate maintenance team efforts to achieve the DAILY goal.
- Assist in preparing shift report.
- Planned Maintenance
- Assist in planning and scheduling of Work Order (WO) for the shift.
- Assist in parts kitting activities for WO assigned.
- Participate in WO start-up meetings and provide guidance such as safety procedure, specialized tools, documentation standard, etc.
- Supervise team members during maintenance tasks, review the quality of work done against established standards and ensure hours and parts are logged in the system.
- Training
- Act as subject matter expert and provide training for other technicians, including onboarding new members and support cross-functional learning initiatives.
- Assist in preparing training documents including SOP, one point lesson, troubleshooting guide, etc.
- Continuous Improvement
- Participate in Continuous Improvement project as Subject Matter Expert.
- Lead actions as assigned and monitor line performance and initiates corrective actions when necessary.
- Responsible for proper house keeping in the workshop and any work area.
- Other duties as assigned.

Key Qualifications/Requirements
- Previous experience in trade. Certified Provincial Electricians Ticket (442 or 309A) or Red Seal Millwright (433) preferred or working toward one.
- Undergraduate degree in Engineering is a plus.
- Over 5 years of manufacturing experience. Experience in a food manufacturing environment will be an asset.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Access, Excel, Computerized Maintenance Management System
- Proficiency in reading, analyzing, and interpreting electrical drawings, P&ID drawings, and control network drawings.
- Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills.
- Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to interact with plant floor employees and collaborate with cross functional stakeholders.
- Time management and organizational skills. Ability to prioritize tasks and hold team members accountable to deliverable on agreed deadlines.
- Ability to work weekend, afternoon or night when needed.

Job Responsibilities:
QUALIFICATIONS
- Previous Supervisory experience an asset.
- Industrial Trade certification. i.e. Industrial Electrician/PLC Programmer or Industrial Millwright
- PLC Certification
- Robotic applications and programming (Serpo robots will be an asset).
- Experience on Krauss Maffei and Husky, Injection Moulding Machines ranging from 500-1500 T.
- Experience on Roll-forming, Robotic weld and Automated assembly cells. Mechanical and hydraulic press.
- Fluency in English, both oral and written.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Minimum five (5) years hands on experience in a Manufacturing Environment.
- Excellent knowledge and understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic fundamentals and principals.
- Good understanding of electromechanical systems.
- Good knowledge of structured troubleshooting for Hydraulic Systems.
- Able to work with minimal supervision.
- Knowledge of Electrical troubleshooting.
- Basic understanding of the computer.
- Knowledge and understanding of electrical circuits.
- Basic understanding of Statistical Process Control.
- Must have ability to work well under pressure.
- Must have proven ability that above noted knowledge can be applied on a practical level.

MAIN TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Begin your shift 15 minutes earlier than your reports in order to allow you time to communicate with the previous shift Lead hand and prepare the tasks for your team
- Co-ordinate and distribute work to mechanics and electricians on your shift and ensure that all work is carried out in a safe manner.
- Prioritize work by level of urgency, driven by production and delivery schedules
- Ensure that work orders are completed properly by each technician for each completed job every day
- Update your supervisor on significant information pertaining to any urgent situations
- Communicate with previous shift Lead Hand, any issues and/or incomplete tasks as well as ensure that the shift supervisor coming in for the next shift is fully updated on all significant activities that took place during your shift
- Communicate performance issues on team members (both positive and negative) to the maintenance supervisor
- Monitor the condition of the parts inventory areas, monitor and enforce the housekeeping in this area
- Carry cell phone at all times during your shift and respond to all calls in a professional manner
- Communicate with all area managers and leaders as well as operators and your team in a professional manner at all times
- Ensure that all P/M's are carried out in a timely manner and that they do not fall into the overdue status
- Attend weekly maintenance meetings and contribute to these meetings with valuable input whenever possible
- Carry out repairs to equipment within your field of expertise as required
- Attend all other technical meetings and training sessions as required by management
- Assist maintenance supervisor with planning weekend O/T projects and task appointment
- Ensure that electricians and mechanics work together harmoniously
- Work with supervisor to foster a cross-functional workforce between mechanics and electricians through the assignment of tasks outside of their expertise.
- Be conscious of over-committing to a workload of more than your team can accomplish in a shift and prioritize/delegate accordingly
- Complete performance appraisal for each of your reports, up to but not including the review prior to handing to your supervisor
- Lead by example by demonstrating above average work ethics and compliance to all policies and rules
- Performs all job functions abiding by the office/work standards, policies and procedures as outlines in the company handbook.
- Performs all job functions in alignment with IATF 16949 quality management standards, BOS Procedures and ISO 14001
