Formed in 2007 to provide services & expertise for the sea floor minerals industry. Since then, we have expanded our offerings to solve subsea surveying challenges across a range of markets including the renewables, oil and gas, defence and minerals sectors. We bring together expert teams of engineers and geoscientists to design, integrate and operationalize complex sensor systems deployed from AUV, ROV, USV and surface vessels. About the Role

The Manufacturing Technologist will be responsible for assembling OFG’s sensor products. The successful candidate will ensure that our subsea sensors continue to be built to the highest level of quality. A commitment that our clients expect from OFG. This is a full-time role that is 100% in-person at our facility in Burnaby, BC.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with the Manufacturing Program Manager
• Collaborate with other departments, such as engineering, administration, and sales, to ensure that production meets customer needs and specifications
• Assemble new OFG sensor products
• Repair/maintain existing OFG sensors
• QC parts and finished goods
• Review and interpret sensor data using visualisation tools
• Participate in the development or adaptation of QC processes and documentation
• Maintain QC records and systems
• Monitor and maintain inventory and inventory systems and records
• Pack, ship and receive parts and finished goods
• Manage the shop environment
• Maintain a safe and organized shop environment

Qualifications

• 5+ years relevant experience
• Experience working with subsea sensors and equipment, sealing surfaces and O-rings

Required Skills

• Ability to learn and adapt to new technologies as well as changing work environment, and communication methods

Technical Knowledge:

• Specific skills in soldering, crimping, and inspection of PCBs
• Experience working with subsea sensors and equipment, sealing surfaces and o-rings
• An understanding of various manufacturing processes, such as machining, additive manufacturing, and assembly
• Strong knowledge of electronic principles, components, electronic testing and troubleshooting
• Ability to interpret and build products in accordance with engineering drawings and procedures
• Experience developing procedures for quality control and manufacturing
• Ability to review engineering drawings and design documentation for manufacturability and provide feedback
• Understanding and adhering to safety protocols

Analytic and Problem-Solving Skills:

• Ability to identify and resolve technical issues
• Attention to detail and diligence with note taking and documenting analysis

Communication:

• Effective communication skills for collaborating with teammates

• PMP designation is not required but will be considered an asset.
• Sound knowledge of both low and medium voltage Switchgear, Switchboards, PDUs and ATS.
• Demonstrated experience in management of project scope, cost, schedules, and vendors/subcontractors.
• Knowledge and experience with ERP systems including SAP, MS Project, and other MS Office applications.
• Demonstrated ability to develop trust and maintain long-term customer relationships.
• Strong influencing, coaching, and conflict resolution skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Role Overview

The Health & Safety Manager is a key member of the Site Leadership Team, reporting directly to the Site Manager with a dotted-line to the Senior Director of Health & Safety. This role is responsible for developing, implementing, and continuously improving the mill’s health and safety strategy, ensuring regulatory and corporate compliance, and fostering a strong safety culture across the operation. This is a full-time, on-site leadership role with 5 direct reports, including emergency response/fire services and an hourly safety coordinator.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the mill-wide health and safety program, driving continuous improvement and risk reduction.
• Ensure compliance with provincial, local, and corporate health and safety regulations and standards.
• Identify, assess, and audit systems to mitigate risks and prevent safety incidents.
• Lead injury/incident analysis, investigations, and root cause assessments, ensuring corrective actions are implemented.
• Engage and involve employees at all levels to strengthen safety culture, awareness, and accountability.
• Oversee workers’ compensation administration and site security.
• Provide coaching, technical support, and leadership to the site team, integrating safety into mill operations, maintenance, and engineering.
• Collaborate closely with the mill leadership team and corporate H&S leadership to align on goals and performance metrics.

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years of health and safety leadership experience in an industrial or heavy manufacturing environment (pulp, paper, chemical, mining, steel, etc.); service or light manufacturing backgrounds will not be considered.
• Bachelor’s degree in Safety Management, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Health & Safety, or a related discipline preferred; significant relevant experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
• Strong knowledge of occupational health and safety legislation, workers’ compensation regulations, and compliance requirements.
• Proven ability to assess safety performance, identify opportunities, and implement effective improvements.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and engage at all levels.
• High proficiency in MS Office and related digital tools.
• Experience supervising or coaching other health and safety professionals is an asset.
• Willingness to relocate to Vancouver Island (relocation assistance provided); this is an on-site role with no remote option.
