Your tasks may include:    * Machine operation (which could include operating multiple machines at once)   * Working on the production line and follow job instructions carefully  * Assembling of parts, which could include the use of air or power tools   * Sorting, packaging, and labeling of parts and products * Pushing / pulling bins or stacks of products  * Completing quality control  * Cleaning and organizing your work area  * Follow all safety rules and procedures, including wearing appropriate PPE    You’ll need to be the type of person who has a desire to meet and exceed your production quotas, while putting out a high-quality product. You work safely and attentively, no matter what task you’re looking after. Manufacturing Technician Job Description

Overall Responsibility:

Operate automated manufacturing machinery, responsible for monitoring and inspecting the quality of all products in the assigned work area. Making minor adjustments to machinery ensuring consistent quality of goods.

Key Accountabilities:
•Operate and tend to automated manufacturing equipment; including robotics and fixed automation equipment.
•Interpret and understand machine readouts and adjust settings to accommodate for material variance, quality requirements and thresholds.
•Conduct regular quality inspections to ensure a good quality product based on pre-determined standards and requirements.
•Assist with machine changeovers, operating overhead cranes to change machine fixtures, and assisting with setting up pre-programmed automation systems.
• Record accurate production data in computerized systems (parts per hour, scrap, down-time, part traceability).
• Independently conduct thorough pre-shift work cell inspections ensuring the machine is in good working order and all safety or production concerns are reported or handled after machine start-up.
• Conduct regular and end of shift housekeeping duties including sweeping, disposing of trash and scrap, etc.
What you bring to the Company
Education/ Accreditation
• Grade 12 or GED required.
• Some college or certification in manufacturing or technology seen as an asset.

Technical Skills and Knowledge:
• Previous experience in a manufacturing environment is a must.
• Experience utilizing visual work instructions to complete a task independently.
• General mathematical skills are required.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Previous exposure to robotic or automated manufacturing.
• Knowledge or exposure to welding is considered an asset.
• Exposure to ISO14001 and TS16949 standards is considered an asset.
• Experience participating in World Class Manufacturing or continuous improvement initiatives is considered an asset.
Hours of Work
• 40 hours a week plus overtime.

We are looking for someone who :

  • Is a Licensed Millwright.
  • Has 3 to 5 years of experience as a Millwright in an automotive setting (preventative maintenance, continuous improvement (Kaizen), breakdowns, etc.).
  • Is available and willing to work mandatory overtime maintenance shifts are more extended to support our production department.
  • Has an excellent attendance record and arrives at work on time.
  • Has strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Has good analytical thinking and troubleshooting skills.
  • Has a desire to learn skills other than your area of expertise.
  • Has a good understanding of the Toyota Production System (this would be an asset).

Shifts :

Rotational Shift basis - 2 Weeks

Day Shift: 6:15 am to 4:45 pm

Afternoon Shift: 5:30 pm to 4:00 am

Wages :

  • $45.87 per hour as a starting rate.
  • $6.65 after 6 months of employment.
  • 47.43 after 1 year of employment.
  • 48.99 after 2 years of employment.
  • 50.60 after 3 years of employment.
  • A 2.00 shift premium is added when working the afternoon shift.
  • Overtime time is paid 1.5 times your regular wage after 40 hours each week.

  • Willingness and ability to travel as required to support company initiatives, including international travel.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or Degree in Engineering would be an asset
  • Minimum 3 years of manufacturing experience in an engineering role. Experience in automotive manufacturing preferred.
  • Industry 4.0 experience an asset
  • Valid Driver's license and ability to travel between plants required
