What You’ll Do
  • Conduct manufacturability assessments for new products, collaborating closely with Design Engineering and Customers.
  • Identify efficient production methods and provide accurate product costing information.
  • Design and procure tooling, fixtures, and production auxiliaries using 3D parametric software (Solid Edge, Solidworks).
  • Provide technical support to Production, addressing quality, process, and tooling challenges.
  • Lead product prototyping, design changes, and testing alongside the Production team.
  • Develop production standards, and workflows, and perform time studies.
  • Create and optimize manufacturing systems, integrating equipment and data automation.
  • Collaborate with production leads and support functions to enhance fabrication, assembly, and supply chain processes.
  • Plan facility layouts for optimal workflow and setup techniques.
  • Drive efficiency projects, reducing waste and enhancing overall performance.
  • Research, program, test, and operate cutting-edge equipment (CNC Machines, Ro/Cobots, software).
  • Participate actively in continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Promote and maintain a safe work environment.
Requirements:
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs with an emphasis on Excel.
  • Experience in Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) or Material Requirements Planning (MRP) systems.
  • Experience with DFM, PFMEA, and Lean/ Six Sigma fundamentals is a plus.
  • Knowledge of 2D and Solid modelling using Solidworks or other 3D Solid model concepts.
  • Understanding manufacturing management processes, including BOM, ERP, and resource and capacity.
  • Experience with root cause analysis and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, and analytical skills, along with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Very good verbal and written communication skills to communicate with manufacturing, customers, and suppliers.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed (<10%).
  • Self-motivated with a strong desire to implement change.

POSITION SUMMARY

Manufacturing Engineer (ME) works closely with and supports the production team by providing technical support on issues related to the coach build. Builds include but are not limited to concept, prototype, pilot, first and production builds. ME will assist production with the first and subsequent builds of new systems and proto type designs; prepare proposed design changes or revisions and assist with accuracy audits and root cause analysis, as well as participate in continuous improvement events.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Assists production with the first and subsequent builds of new systems or revisions to existing systems.
  • Assists with production planning tasks ensuring plant is ready for upcoming coaches.
  • Provides point of use routing and the assembly sequence for all components through the subassembly and coach assembly line.
  • Prepares proposed design changes or revisions to correct the current design.
  • Continually identifies, suggests and implements cost reduction projects to reduce the overall cost of the coach.
  • Assists with audits that measure the bill of material and routing accuracies; identifying root cause of inaccuracies.
  • Reviews tooling and fixture needs to improve the assembly process.
  • Researches the latest technology and manufacturing practices or identifies improvements to current practices/ processes and introduces these into production.
  • Prepares documentation for production as needed to ensure coaches are built per coach design and customer requirements (procedures, work instructions, visual aids, etc.)
  • Attends Problem solving meetings where a cross functional team will review given areas and make marked improvements in process.

WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:

  • Certified Mechanical/Manufacturing/ Industrial Engineer or Engineering Technologist or acceptable equivalent of education and/or experience.
  • One to five-year experience in a manufacturing setting preferable in transportation, automotive or bus
  • industry.
  • Familiarity/experience in a Six sigma, LEAN, JIT environment.
  • English language fluency (read, write, speak and understand).
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and documentation (e.g. blue prints).
  • Self-motivated with ability to work with minimal supervision and process oriented.
  • Computer skills: typing, ability to use of Microsoft Office and Windows, etc.
  • Experience with AutoCAD or CAD/CAM software is a plus
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including experience working with people in a manufacturing environment.

The Manufacturing Technology Drafter is responsible for interpreting customer drawings, and transcribing the information therein into JCA scale drawings, and other documentation needed to build efficiently on the production floor. Position Summary

**THE ROLE**
The Quality Control Technician (Level I) role is to perform the basic physical testing of plastic and hardened concrete and aggregates. He/She shall have general understanding of concrete and concrete testing, basic computer skills, knowledge of reading drawings and the production process.
**Position available for 8-month term and one for a 4-month term**
**WHAT YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH**
+ Continuously seek ways to improve operational efficiency and effectiveness.
+ Collaborate with other precasters, Amrize companies, and external organizations as needed.
+ Develop and maintain expertise in concrete technology and industry best practices.
+ Promote and adhere to safety standards and procedures in all activities.
+ Assist in planning and scheduling regular materials testing to ensure quality compliance.
+ Perform testing on plastic and hardened concrete, including sampling, temperature checks, slump, air content, density, yield, and compressive strength.
+ Conduct testing of aggregates, including sieve analysis, fineness modulus, decant, and moisture content.
+ Ensure all testing procedures meet CSA and ASTM standards.
+ Accurately input and review test results to support quality assurance processes.
+ Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.
**WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR**
**Education:** Current student from a Bachelor of Engineering Program Civil or Structural or Construction Management discipline preferred
**Required Training/Certifications:** Interest in a long-term career in engineering and construction with a goal to pursue P. Eng. designation.
**Preferred Skillset:**
+ Experience with ACI testing and certification
+ Experience in a precast industry and quality control department or construction related experience
+ Basic Computer skills.
+ Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
+ Good organization, communication and planning skills
+ Team player with a positive attitude.
+ Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Holcim approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators.
