DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Installing and programming new lighting and lighting control systems in various commercial, retail and industrial applications
- Read, interpret and execute drawings, schematics, blueprints and electrical code specifications to see layout of electrical equipment installations
- Comply with Canadian Electrical Code, health and safety manual, occupational health and safety act and other applicable rules and regulations
- Overlook a crew of 1-3 electricians and apprentices on site performing lighting upgrades
- Creating project timelines, bill of materials and labour cost estimates from electrical drawings
- Facilitate and control work on site including materials, equipment, health & safety and the crew
- Provide support and direction to additional crews on other projects as required
- Work directly with Service department, ENS project managers and coordinators and client representatives
- Providing training to an assigned electrical apprentice
- Job requires flexible schedule with evening and after hours work when required
- Perform other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master Electrician License
- Wide-ranging familiarity of Canadian Electrical Code
- 5 years in a foreman capacity position
- Valid drivers license
- Willing to work out of town, longer shifts, and/or evening shifts
- Highly organized, detail orientated, and an ability to multi task
- Successful applicants are required to provide a clean driver's abstract and complete a criminal records background check

JOB SUMMARY:
The Master Electrician will work closely with the Operations Teams to support all technical aspects of project delivery from concept/proposal through to final completion. The Master Electrician will also play an essential role in supporting and implementing the design, permitting, construction, and commissioning of commercial and residential LED projects.
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Install electrical wiring, conduit, and systems on construction projects
- Troubleshooting electronic systems and conducting preventive maintenance programs
- Understand the requirements of LED system design and lighting control interconnection
- Liaising with clients, vendors, and other electricians
- Perform project closeout, including electrical system testing
- Participate in the equipment selection and procurement
- Being comfortable with new construction and retrofit project
- Incorporation of safety policies within each project
- Utilize knowledge of A/C and D/C systems
- Works within a team environment to complete project assignments
- Administration duties/ tasks as required and all other duties as assigned

**What will you do?**
**Product Testing for certification and compliance:** this role is expected to design and develop the test apparatus and methodology to simplify and improve the safety of product testing. The equipment working voltage will be Medium Voltage up to 38kV, and Low Voltage to 600V. The candidate shall be capable of translating product standard test requirements from CSA/UL/FM/IEC into test methodologies that are relevant, accurate and repeatable. They will also be responsible to provide support or direction on pre-shipment product functionality or product standard compliance testing at our manufacturing facilities.
**Cross functional collaboration and development:** Working with the product development team, the candidate will lead or direct every aspect of the test design process starting from the point of product inception and following through to the point of manufacturing and managing test documentation to ensure compliance with certification program.
**Processes and methodology development** is expected to support developing Product Test Plans and formulate, document, publish and manage Product Test Reports to ensure compliance with our CSA Supervised Manufacturers' Testing for Certification Program (SMTC).
**Commitment to Continuous improvement:** The position is expected to continuously monitor the effectiveness of the lab's testing abilities, identify risks to its operational continuity and propose and implement new equipment purchases or existing equipment upgrades. Manage the selection, determination of suitability to task, sourcing, and calibration of the site's maintained calibrated test equipment.

Responsibilities of this role are related to testing and development of MV and LV electrical distribution and control products. Key activities include planning and executing tests, developing lab capabilities, coordinating with teams, maintaining testing documentation, providing training, analyzing test data, and collaborating with engineers. The emphasis is on safety, efficiency, and aligning with business growth while participating in design reviews and maintaining a lean workplace.
Experience as an electrical tester will help you are you perform required audits and ensure that we are developing a program that is best in class (operating for growth).
An excellent verbal and written communicator with experience in communications to front line and management employees. Along with the proven ability to use computers and several types of software to drive data analyses are highly valued.
**Qualifications:**

- Minimum 2-year associate degree (with higher qualification being accepted) or minimum 2 years equivalent work experience

- 2+ years of safe use of basic hand tools to perform electrical and mechanical assemblies.
- Be legally authorized to work in Canada without the sponsorship of a company.
- Only candidates residing within an 80 km radius of Edmonton will be considered for this position. No moving (relocation) is offered for this position.
**Preferred qualifications:**
- P. ENG designation, or C.E.T. designation, or working towards one.
- Electrician license 309A or 442A is a plus.
- Experience with:
+ medium voltage power breaker, starters/MCCs and drives, and key components such as magnetics, contactors, PLCs, safety modules, power cable/bus, isolators, heat sinks, fans, enclosures.
+ product testing with a broad portfolio of electrical and mechanical tests: dielectric (hi-pot, BIL, PD, tracking), environmental (humidity, temperature, shock & vibration), temperature rise, EMC (emissions and immunity), LCR and magnetics qualification, highly accelerated life testing (HALT), PCBA functional testing
+ Experience with thermocouple welding, DMM, usage, hardware troubleshooting, test fixture design and lab care.
- Demonstrated capability in working with standards for industrial controllers, safety and lab management, such as UL 347, UL 61800-5-1, IEC/EN 61800-3, ISO 17025, CSA 22.2 No 31, No 254, No. 14.
- Familiar with PCB technology: schematics, soldering, oscilloscope and DMM usage, firmware flashing, hardware troubleshooting, test fixture design and lab care.
