The ideal candidate is a Professional Electrician with a strong background in LED retrofits and new construction. The candidate will be part of an entrepreneurial and growing team, who is able to be hands-on, and who strives to take ownership over what they do.

The Master Electrician will gain essential knowledge and exposure to all areas of the business. TGL is committed to investing time and resources in developing the Electrician’s skills and experience in order to advance to more senior positions within the company.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Master Electrician will work closely with the Operations Teams to support all technical aspects of project delivery from concept/proposal through to final completion. The Master Electrician will also play an essential role in supporting and implementing the design, permitting, construction, and commissioning of commercial and residential LED projects.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Install electrical wiring, conduit, and systems on construction projects
• Troubleshooting electronic systems and conducting preventive maintenance programs
• Understand the requirements of LED system design and lighting control interconnection
• Liaising with clients, vendors, and other electricians
• Perform project closeout, including electrical system testing
• Participate in the equipment selection and procurement
• Being comfortable with new construction and retrofit project
• Incorporation of safety policies within each project
• Utilize knowledge of A/C and D/C systems
• Works within a team environment to complete project assignments
• Administration duties/ tasks as required and all other duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & KEY COMPETENCIES:

• Experience with the following voltages: 600, 480, 208, 240
• Experience working with the following amperages: 60a - 1,600a
• Knowledge and experience working on commercial electrical projects
• Time management skills

• Strong interpersonal and written communication skills
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office and other software application is an asset

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

• Must be a licensed Master Electrician
• Valid Ontario driver’s license
• Must be able to travel throughout the province and stay away from home for extended periods of time.
• Valid working at Heights Certification

Key Job Duties:
- Verifies all work on the job site is up to code and company standards
- Advises all necessary requirements and work needed for each installation
- Takes all possible measures to obtain a passed inspection document for every installation
- Maintains their Master Electrician license during employment and gives notification of the renewal date.

Necessary Skills and Experience

- Must hold a Master Electricians license and valid ESA number
- Must not currently be the designated master electrician for any other company, utility or organization
- Must have Working at Heights Certification and comfortable with heights and climbing onto roof areas/towers for extended periods of time
- Earns trust easily and maintains confidence with local inspectors

DESCRIPTION OF PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead in the installation of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems, including but not limited to; assembly, mounting panels, connecting wiring, and installing inverters and other electrical components.
• Troubleshooting and repair of solar systems.
• Aligning solar panels according to site layout plans and engineering drawings.
• Assemble and install solar racking and modules according to specifications.
