Position Overview:


The Mechanical Assembly Technician will work as part of a team to provide superior service and stakeholder satisfaction through responsibility for equipment assembly resulting in a quality and schedule driven environment, while ensuring the well-being of self and all internal and external stakeholders.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Including but not limited to):


• Assemble/test specially designed equipment for recovering and processing de-icing fluids to ensure proper working condition;

• Perform equipment builds and repairs using a variety of hand and power tools, cranes/lifts, while following all safety procedures and regulations;

• Conduct end of assembly function and performance verification tests and adjust assembled systems to meet performance specifications;

• Set hydraulic pressures, flows, and other system adjustments to ensure assembled equipment meets specifications;

• Disassemble and rebuild component assemblies, including troubleshooting, diagnosing and repairing malfunctions and restoring to proper working order;


Required Skills and Experience:


• 3rd year registered apprentice or an equivalent combination of education and experience;

• High school diploma or equivalent;

• Previous experience with heavy equipment diagnostics, repair, maintenance or assembly;

• The ability to troubleshoot, diagnose and repair systems such as hydraulics, powertrains and electrical and electronic systems used in heavy duty equipment and truck and transport vehicles;

• Willingness to be trained on other duties and positions within the fabrication facility;

• Ability to follow drawings, schematics, procedures, to make and or assemble sub-assemblies, along with kits for electrical, and hydraulic systems without damage to pre-painted parts for a final product that passes Inland’s Quality and Operational standards;

• Ability to work independently to achieve project goals before deadline;

• Basic computer skills with working knowledge of Microsoft programs including Outlook, Word, and Excel;

• Read, write, speak and communicate effectively;

• Ability to interpret documents including safety rules, operating and procedure manuals;

• Ability to work as part of a team;

• Ability to maintain a positive and good-natured attitude;

• Ability to remain calm and perform under pressure and within fixed time constraints;

• A valid driver’s license is required for this position.


Work Environment:


• The Mechanical Assembly Technician will work in a manufacturing and production working environment. There will be regular exposure to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions (wet and/or humid conditions; fumes or airborne particles and vibration). The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. There may be times when the Mechanical Assembly Technician will be required to work outside of their normal work schedule, so that we may meet the needs of our customers and/or operational requirements.


Physical Demands:


• It is expected that the employee be physically fit and able to perform all operational requirements;

• Position involves standing for extended periods of time as well as bending, kneeling, lifting, climbing, using hands to control tools and feel objects, reaching with hands and arms;

• Ability to lift, push, and pull objects up to 75 pounds occasionally and 50 pounds frequently;

• Wearing of personal protective equipment when required and full mobility allowing for freedom of movement in high-risk environment;

• Must be able to speak clearly and hear efficiently to comprehend instructions;

• Employees must have the ability to climb 15-foot heights for work;

Au quotidien, vous effectuerez l'assemblage manuel de divers systèmes mécaniques à l'aide d'outils manuels et d'équipements de fixation légers. Vous serez responsable de l'ajustement correct et de la qualité du travail accompli.

Le candidat idéal pour ce poste possède une solide connaissance technique des systèmes électromécaniques, une excellente dextérité manuelle et de grandes capacités de communication. La capacité à exécuter avec succès les instructions présentées dans les procédures de travail, les dessins techniques et les schémas d'assemblage est primordiale.

Responsabilités

  • Assembler et tester les composants mécaniques et les sous-assemblages
  • Offrir du mentorat pratique, soutenir le développement des compétences des collègues et contribuer activement au partage des connaissances
  • Assister le superviseur de production dans la coordination, la planification et le suivi des activités de production
  • Assurer le bon déroulement et la sécurité des opérations en identifiant proactivement les risques, en proposant des mesures correctives (notamment aux comités SST)
  • Surveiller et communiquer de manière proactive les besoins en inventaire
  • Assurer que les objectifs de production soient atteints dans les délais et le budget prévus
  • Identifier et signaler les problèmes liés à la qualité des produits, collaborer avec les équipes d'ingénierie de production et de qualité pour soutenir les solutions
  • Maintenir un haut niveau d’organisation et d’ordre afin de favoriser un environnement de travail sécuritaire et efficace

Qualifications
  • Formation collégiale, professionnelle ou technique en assemblage électrique, aéronautique, électromécanique ou domaine connexe
  • Minimum de 4 ans d'expérience récente en assemblage de machines ou dans un environnement manufacturier similaire
  • Maîtrise des outils manuels de base et des équipements de test électrique (multimètres, systèmes de test de câbles, etc.)
  • Solide expérience pratique en assemblage électrique, câblage et systèmes de sertissage
  • Capacité physique à soulever des charges jusqu'à 50 livres (23 kg) et à maintenir une position debout prolongée

The Role

We’re looking for experienced mechanical assembly experts with a passion for quality workmanship, a knack for problem solving, and a positive, coaching-focused attitude.
As we scale up to meet the growing demand for our cutting-edge 3D printers, you’ll play a key role not just in building high-performance products, but also in mentoring teammates, driving continuous improvement, and helping us deliver exceptional quality.

Day to day, you will be manually assembling various mechanical systems with the support of hand tools and light fixturing. You will be responsible for correct fit and quality of completed work.

The successful candidate for this role, will have strong technical knowledge of electromechanical systems, possess significant manual dexterity, and be a great communicator. The ability to successfully execute instructions represented in written work instructions, engineering drawings and assembly schematics is extremely important.

Responsibilities
  • Assemble and test mechanical components and subassemblies
  • Provide hands-on mentorship, support skill development among teammates, and actively contribute to team knowledge.
  • Assist the production supervisor in the coordination, scheduling and monitoring of production activities  
  • Ensure the smooth and safe operation of work and actively identify hazards in the workplace and propose corrective measures to the Health & Safety Committee     
  • Monitor and communicate inventory needs proactively
  • Ensure production targets are met on time and within budget  
  • Identify and escalate issues related to product quality, collaborate with production engineering and quality teams to support solutions  
  • Enforce a high standard of organization and cleanliness   

 
Qualifications
  • Collegial, vocational or technical training related to the fields of electrical assembly, aeronautics, electro mechanics or similar discipline   
  • 4+ years of recent work in machine assembly or similar manufacturing environment  
  • Proficient with basic hand tools and electrical test equipment (multimeters, cable testing systems, etc)  
  • Strong hands on experience with electrical assembly tasks, wiring, and crimping systems   
  • Capable of lifting loads up to 50 lbs, Able to stand for extended periods of time  
  • The ability to lead with positivity, clarity, and accountability
  • Sharp attention to detail, with excellent manual dexterity
  • A self-starter with a collaborative mindset and a passion for quality craftsmanship
  • Ability to work flexible hours and overtime

The Electrical Assembler will be responsible for:
  • Act as a key team member to our manufacturing operation offering technical expertise for assembly of automatic transfer switches
  • Use wire termination and component layout tools including but not limited to strippers, wire cutters, wire crimpers, screwdrivers, tee square, machinist square, tape measure, wrenches and pliers.
  • Assembling control panel for emergency control according to assembly books, custom specs & quality standards
  • Mount electrical components including circuit breakers, switches, transformers, relays, contactors, terminals, input/output devices and/or all other related switchgear electrical devices.
  • Position, bolt, screw, clip, adjust or fasten parts and components together using hand, power tools, and equipment
  • Following ISO 9001 standards, practicing 5S and LEAN manufacturing Standards
  • Reading and interpreting technical drawings and schematics
  • Work in a safe, clean systematic manner working to C.S.A, and company quality requirements
  • Training provided
Requirements:
  • Previous experience with electrical and mechanical with strong analytical skills
  • Experience or training in electrical/ industrial assembly considered an asset
  • Experience with power tools – jig saws, grinders, pneumatic tools, cutters
  • Comprehension of wires sizes and corresponding carrying capacity
  • Physically fit; ability to lift 30 lbs.
  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision
  • Must be flexible, highly motivated, organized & show attention to details
  • Excellent work ethic
  • Manual dexterity
  • Hand-eye co-ordination
  • Team player
  • Familiarity with and own basic tools
  • Completely and efficiently handle any assigned job with minimal supervision

**What you'll do:**
Eaton is currently seeking a Mechanical Assembler - Day Shift to join our team. This position is based at our Milton, Ontario location.
**Position Overview:**
Eaton's Milton Plant has an immediate opening for a Mechanical Assembler on our day shift. Reporting to the Production Supervisor, this position interprets the manufacturing information documents in order to mechanically assemble, fit and install prefabricated parts or modify basic components, sub-assemblies and structures using hand and power tools for the site's product lines.
**In this function you will:**
- Assemble components ensuring proper torque of bus and phase connectors.
- Read and interpret drawings while ensuring assembly bill of material accuracy.
- Check parts picked/delivered to parts required. Resolve discrepancies, if any, with supervisor.
- Escalate drawing concerns via appropriate channel.
- Repair and modify any errors detected by test/inspection.
- Work to CSA and UL code.
- Maintain the accuracy and integrity of the internal KANBAN process.
- Apply consistency in assembly method for units on the same order.
- Responsible for visual inspections of material before and after assembly by conducting inspection for conformance to drawings and specifications, functional operation and appearance and making mechanical adjustments as needed.
- Clean unit and prepare for testing process.
- Check performance of completed components to ensure compliance to quality standards and make necessary adjustments when required in order to meet quality goals.
- Perform pack and ship duties.
- Use various fixtures, gauges and assembly tools to assemble, adjust or repair product.
- Perform other duties as required
**Qualifications:**
**Basic Qualifications:**
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a manufacturing environment or six months of assembly experience.
- Completed High School Diploma or equivalency.
- No relocation is offered for this position. All candidates must currently reside within 80 KM of Milton, ON to be considered.
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada without company sponsorship now and in the future.
**Skills:**
**Preferred Qualifications:**
- Experience in assembly or repair of products.
- Ability to read and interpret drawings and schematics.
- Knowledge of Lean manufacturing processes and Six Sigma Tools.
**Position Criteria:**
- Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical and safety procedures of a manufacturing facility.
- Demonstrated experience of utilizing mechanical tools and measuring equipment required for assembly.
- Good communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in problem-solving, mathematical skills, computer and troubleshooting ability.

**What you'll do:**
**PRIMARY FUNCTION:**
Reporting to the Production Manager, this role is responsible for the assembly, wiring, and installation of electrical and mechanical components, following detailed manufacturing documentation and quality standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and a commitment to safety and continuous improvement.
This role is located at one of our Eaton Satellite locations (6 in total), which are located across Canada and comprise of smaller to medium assemble-to-order facilities and complement our large manufacturing facilities within Canada. Local site product lines may include; standard panelboards, switchboard, control and custom control product assemblies as required.
**ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:**
- Interpret and work from drawings, schematics, shop packs, and process plans
- Wire complex assemblies and install components according to specifications
- Assemble electrical control panels, sub-assemblies, and mechanical structures
- Use fixtures and various tools to assemble, adjust, and repair products
- Perform in-process inspections and make adjustments to meet quality standards
- Ensure compliance with Eaton's High 5 focus areas: Safety, Quality, Delivery, Inventory, and Productivity
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas in accordance with 5S principles
- Accurately pick materials from inventory and resolve shortages with supervision
- Participate in departmental continuous improvement efforts
- Work overtime as needed and in accordance with policy and legislative guidelines
- Support other departments, such as mechanical assembly or fabrication, when required
**Qualifications:**
**Minimum Qualifications:**
- Completion of High School or GED equivalent is required
- Ability to lift heavy materials (up to 35lbs alone) and work in a physically demanding environment
- Legally authorized to work in Canada without company sponsorship
**Preferred Qualifications:**
- Diploma in electrical engineering is considered an asset
- Prior experience in testing electrical control assemblies considered an asset
- Minimum 1 year of experience in a manufacturing or assembly environment
