Sanofi's Medical Scientific Liaison (MSL) team plays a vital role in advancing scientific dialogue and clinical engagement. As a trusted scientific partner, the MSL builds meaningful relationships with key stakeholders across the healthcare ecosystem to accelerate data dissemination and support improved patient outcomes. We are currently seeking an MSL to join our Transplant team, covering the **Western Canada region** .
This field-based role is ideal for someone with a strong scientific background, excellent communication skills, and a deep understanding of the transplant landscape and healthcare systems in Canada.

**Main Responsibilities**
**External Expert Engagement (40%)**
+ Build and maintain long-term, peer-to-peer scientific relationships with key opinion leaders (KOLs), transplant physicians, and other healthcare professionals.
+ Exchange timely, balanced, scientific information aligned with regulatory standards.
+ Identify medical and scientific needs, emerging trends, and research opportunities within the transplant community.
**Scientific & Medical Knowledge Transfer (20%)**
+ Represent Sanofi at key national/regional medical congresses and symposia.
+ Organize and support local advisory boards, educational meetings, and speaker training sessions.
+ Translate complex data into impactful clinical insights that inform healthcare decisions.
**Internal Collaboration & Insight Generation (20%)**
+ Communicate actionable field insights to internal teams to support evidence generation, medical planning, and strategic decisions.
+ Collaborate cross-functionally with commercial, regulatory, RWE, and global teams as appropriate.
+ Support evidence generation strategies, including site identification for clinical trials and ISS submissions.
**Stakeholder Mapping & Territory Planning (10%)**
+ Strategically map stakeholders across the Western region, develop territory-specific engagement plans, and ensure efficient coverage of transplant centers.
+ Plan and track engagement activities in alignment with medical strategy and Sanofi compliance standards.
**Compliance & Risk Management (10%)**
+ Maintain high standards of compliance with internal governance processes and external regulatory requirements.
+ Ensure non-promotional interactions and activities follow applicable Canadian and global codes of practice.
**Role Context & Challenges**
+ **Territory scope:** This role covers all major **Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) centers in Western Canada** , including key institutions in BC and Alberta.
+ Requires independence, initiative, and agility to manage a broad geography and virtual engagements.
+ Must navigate complex scientific topics, varying healthcare systems, and stakeholder priorities.
**Dimensions / Scope**
+ Field medical role with **no direct reports**
+ Responsible for managing MSL activity budget (e.g., education events, advisory boards, congress participation)
+ Influences strategic engagement with HCPs, policy makers, and research networks across Western Canada
**About You**
**Candidate Requirements**
**Education**
+ Advanced degree in health sciences (MD, PharmD, PhD preferred).
+ Alternatively, BSc/MSc in health or life sciences with strong clinical/research background (e.g., RN, BPharm).
**Experience**
+ Minimum 2-3 years of relevant experience in medical affairs, clinical research, or academia; industry experience preferred.
+ Solid understanding of transplant medicine, immunology, or adjacent therapeutic areas is a strong asset.
**Competencies**
+ Strong scientific acumen with the ability to interpret and communicate complex data.
+ Proven track record in building partnerships with KOLs or investigators.
+ Strategic thinking and territory management.
+ Excellent communication and presentation skills.
+ Deep understanding of Canadian healthcare systems, regulatory landscape, and compliance standards.

**Insight Generation**

+ MSLs gather data, facts and observations on the external healthcare environment towards generating internal insights.
**Internal Collaboration**
+ MSLs work closely with their office based medical counterpart to shape, develop and co-execute the Country Medical Plan.
+ MSLs develop and maintain an internal stakeholder network.
+ MSLs provide scientific and technical support towards material development (aligned with relevant policies) for internal and external stakeholders, where applicable.
+ MSLs provide scientific support for internal functions such as commercial, market access, regulatory/PV and R&D regarding scientific trainings and updates.
**Supporting Evidence Generation**
+ MSLs support development and execution of clinical trials
+ MSLs identify potential data sources and develop partnerships for RWE.
**Training Compliance**
+ Complete all MSL SOP trainings and all other corporate assigned compliance trainings.
+ Complete the MSL onboarding (and certification) program.
+ Commits to applying and continued practice of the Scientific Engagement Model and Insights process.
+ Continue to develop and maintain technical therapy area and soft skills.
+ Create individual development plan aligned with career aspirations.
**About You**
**Required Education, Experience and Training.**
+ Medical, pharmacy or post graduate level science degree. (required)
+ Fluency in spoken and written business English. (highly regarded)
+ An in-depth knowledge of the disease state, therapeutic area, the relevant products in the portfolio and in the pipeline. (highly preferred)
+ Strong communication and presentation skills to simplify complex topics, good negotiation and networking skills (highly preferred)
+ Familiarity with omnichannel tools and being able to communicate via digital channels from remote (non-office based) environment. (required)
+ A good understanding of (or prior experience in) clinical development and clinical research. The ability to critically evaluate clinical study protocols, reports and publications. (Highly preferred)
+ Good knowledge of pharmacovigilance and local regulatory process and its impact on the product portfolio. (highly preferred)
+ Strong business acumen, understanding importance of and being able to build strategic plans and implement medical initiatives. (highly preferred)
+ Role modelling, upholding integrity and ethics values and adhering to high standards. (highly preferred)
+ 3-5 years experience as a Medical Science Liaison, preferably in the Respirology Area, with an understanding of Severe Uncontrolled Asthma.
Travel is required up to 75% of the time. Travel will be primarily domestic, and will include some travel within US.

**PURPOSE:**
The Medical Science Liaison supports medical and business strategies for compounds through field-based activities that align with overall medical objectives and scientific communication.
This role establishes Takeda's presence with key opinion leaders (KOLs), healthcare providers (HCPs), academic institutions and healthcare entities in the defined geographies for assigned therapeutic areas.
Key responsibilities include:
+ Providing medical insights, intelligence, and recommendations from the field to support the development and life-cycle management of Takeda compounds.
+ Offering medical and scientific expertise to commercial partners as needed, within regulatory guidelines.
+ Compliantly connecting customers to Takeda to advance medical strategy and improve patient outcomes.
This role requires a strategic thinker who can inspire others, focus on key priorities, and elevate organizational capabilities in line with Takeda's Leadership Behaviors.
**KEY JOB** **ACCOUNTABILITIES:**
Externally focused KOL/HCP related activities are expected to comprise a minimum of 80% of responsibilities.
+ Build and maintain professional relationships with KOLs/HCPs per individual territory plans developed by the Field Medical Lead.
+ Map and profile KOLs/HCPs and other external stakeholder groups to support pre- and post-launch excellence

+ Participate in executing the medical strategy at medical conferences (e.g., staff medical booth, interact with KOLs/HCPs, cover key scientific sessions, internally communicate medical insights).
+ Compliantly address unsolicited requests for medical information from health care professionals, including physicians, patient advocacy groups, medical institutions, pharmacy, etc.
+ Ensure Medical Scientific Liaison (MSL) metrics (both quantitative and qualitative) are achieved.
+ Complete all required customer activity documentation (e.g., CRM entries, insights capture, etc.), training, expense reporting, and other administrative responsibilities in a timely, accurate, and compliant manner.
+ Assist with clinical education, publications, communications, training, and advisory/consulting programs to support KOLs' and company initiatives as needed.
