The Jewish Security Network (JSN) of Greater Toronto seeks to hire qualified and dedicated staff to run the Security Operations Centre (SOC). The successful candidates will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and protection of the Toronto Jewish community by supporting the operations of the 24/7 command centre, working within a dynamic team of support staff.

Reporting to the Manager, Security Operations Centre, SOC Operators will serve as the first point of contact for all incoming calls for support and field intelligence reports. Through monitoring a wide array of digital assets via centralized software and phone hotlines, SOC Operators will synthesize large amounts of critical information quickly, coordinate routine and emergency incident communications, and create comprehensive records of security-related incidents.


Responsibilities:

  • Operate the SOC on a shift-basis using sophisticated technology and supporting assets
  • Manage incidents as they arise, manage appropriate responses, and conduct detailed record keeping
  • Provide direct support to Jewish institutions, agencies, and/or personnel during emergencies
  • Tend to crises using a set of pre-determined protocols, working as part of the SOC and the larger JSN team
  • Coordinate with other internal and external security assets as needed
  • Attend regular meetings and trainings, and assist with peer-to-peer training sessions
  • Regularly conduct drills of the system, manage technical troubleshooting, and any other maintenance activities as assigned
  • Assist JSN with event security as needed
  • Work on a rotating shift schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays, to ensure the SOC is operational 24/7

We are seeking someone who possesses the following skillset:

  • Strong interpersonal skills and customer-service experience
  • Clear operational mindset, with the ability to manage stress well and work efficiently under immense pressure required
  • Strong problem-solving skills and detail orientated
  • Strong experience working with software and large technological assets, including as a back-end user
  • Exceptional computer skills, including the ability to type >50 words per minute in English
  • Fluent English speaker, reader, and writer required. Proficiency in Hebrew considered an asset
  • Strong working knowledge of Torontos Jewish community and its institutions considered a major asset
  • Familiarity with situational awareness and other security strengths considered an asset
  • Geopolitical awareness, knowledge of relevant global events, and cultural sensitivity is required
  • A graduate of a Bachelors Degree program or college equivalent considered a major asset
  • Availability to work regular shifts as assigned including on weekends, Jewish holidays, and evenings/overnight is required
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Suite considered an asset

Key Responsibilities

Security Systems Management

Operational Leadership

  • Supervise a team of security personnel, including Shift Supervisors, the Communications Center Supervisor, and the Trailer Control Supervisor

  • Assist the Manager, Security Operations in developing and refining security programs and operational strategies

Incident & Emergency Response

Administrative & Analytical Duties

  • Coordinate employee schedules and process payroll submissions

  • Monitor and maintain security systems to ensure optimal functionality

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a supervisory or management role, preferably within the security, law enforcement, or risk management industries

  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a team in a fast-paced, operational environment

  • Technical proficiency with Lenel Access Control, Two-Way Radio Communication & NATO Phonetic Alphabet, CCTV systems (e.g., Avigilon), and visitor management systems

  • Strong decision-making capabilities, particularly in emergency or high-stress situations

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience in report writing

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook), with the ability to generate analytical reports

Overview:
This position will be the principal cyber lead for General Dynamics Land Systems-Canada (GDLS-C) and several international sites.  The position reports to the Chief Information Security Officer at General Dynamics Land Systems located in Sterling Heights, Michigan. This position will perform the following core functions:

  1. Technical lead for security investigations and incidents across the enterprise with a particular focus on international operations, overseeing process improvements, and driving implementation of new capabilities in concert with Corporate HQ cyber strategy.
  2. Provide subject matter expertise and direction to the business to ensure compliance with the Canadian Program for Cyber Security Certification (CPCSC)
  3. Partner with enterprise IT Engineers to implement and improve technology and processes to enhance SOC monitoring, investigation, and response.
  4. Lead audit preparation, execution and remediation to ensure GDLS compliance with international cyber security regulations.
  5. Serve as an Alternate Company Security Officer for GDLS-C:

Primary Duties:

  • Develop and manage a global cyber security team by setting clear goals and expectations, providing regular guidance, coaching, feedback, and professional development opportunities.
  • Coordinate and oversee cyber security initiatives across GDLS global sites, ensuring the organization meets and is in compliance with GD Corporate IT Security Policies along with contract requirements and international cyber security requirements. 
  • Develop, assess, and implement disaster recovery plans, and conduct risk assessments to identify, mitigate, and manage cyber risks and vulnerabilities.
  • Design, implement, and maintain robust network security measures to protect organizational assets. 
  • Adjust cyber security measures to address evolving cyber risks to the business. 
  • Prepare semi-annual cyber security briefs for the Executive Leadership Team at GDLS-C to inform on the threat landscape and recommend areas for improvement. 
  • Lead the development and implementation of cloud security strategies, ensuring the secure deployment and management of cloud-based services and infrastructure.
  • Establish and maintain cyber governance frameworks and risk management practices. 
  • Conduct risk assessments for new software and SaaS solutions, actively collaborating as part of a larger team (bids, new contracts).
  • Conduct investigations related to IT security incidents, assist in all investigations, and ensure compliance with auditing and documentation requirements as mandated by G.O.C. or customer requirements.
  • Lead evidence/data gathering and documentation and assume responsibilities for all IT security matters that fall under the Corporate Security Office for GD Canada, and occasionally assist with COMSEC duties.
  • Serve as an escalation resource and mentor for other cyber analysts.
  • Assist in defining and driving strategic initiatives at HQ direction.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of international cyber security policies and regulations that impact the business and enterprise network.

Required Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor of Science degree majoring in Computer Science, Information Assurance, or related discipline

  • 10 years experience in a security role such as security operations, risk management and/or audit/compliance function

The day to day:

  • Conduct market research and competitive analysis to stay ahead of industry trends, emerging threats, and regulatory changes impacting healthcare security.

  • Develop and implement operational strategies to improve service quality, client satisfaction, and business growth.
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to ensure operational objectives are met and drive continuous improvement.
  • New business start-ups and transition plan implementation.

Knowledge:

  • Legislation - Relevant government and Healthcare security legislation in Alberta
  • Security Operations - schedule management, Standing Orders preparation, security systems (CCTV/Access Control), Incident Reporting set-up and installation
  • Financial - margin maintenance/improvement, Client/Site financial analysis, Spend Control

Here's what you need:

  • University Degree preferred, College Diploma or certificate in Personnel Management, Business Management, Human Resources or experience in an operational setting involving the management and supervision of a large number of staff members.
  • Minimum of seven years' experience as a manager in an operational setting, with at least three years of direct experience in Healthcare Security operations or managing healthcare client portfolios.
  • Have, or be in the process of attaining the CHPA designation with IAHSS
  • In-depth understanding of healthcare industry dynamics, regulatory requirements, and security challenges.
  • Experience working with hospitals, health authorities, or healthcare-related facilities is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated success in building and leading teams, passion and high energy for people.
  • Proven track record of excellence in client relationship management, problem solving and business development
  • Experience in an operational setting involving the management and supervision of many staff members
  • Strong communicator with assertive interpersonal skills and team player are critical to success.
  • Strong management and leadership skills together with excellent communication, influencing, negotiating and engagement skills
  • Sound judgment and decision-making skills, with a 'hands on', problem solving approach, able to remain calm under pressure and take control of incidents
  • Experience of writing policy, standing order procedures, drafting reports, preparing business cases and compiling and adjusting duty rosters to meet shortfalls in staffing levels
  • MS Office proficiency; Self-motivated; demonstrated ability to produce results while working independently; proven strong analytical and organizational skills; proven customer service skills required; sales and management training an asset; valid Class 5 Alberta Driver's License; access to or possession of vehicle for attending to all client sites
