**WHAT YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH**
+ Responsible for control and operation of one or more types of milling equipment.
+ Operates milling equipment (Milling Machine or Cold Planer) to properly mill asphalt/concrete to desired specifications based on usage
+ Manipulates hand or foot levers to control movements of milling machine that mills asphalt and concrete on roadways and related surfaces such as parking lots, streets, etc.
+ May perform other related duties, such as preventive maintenance on all milling machinery.
+ The operator is responsible for the efficient working condition of the equipment and is expected to perform minor servicing and maintenance or refer major problems to the supervisor.
+ Keep company vehicle, tools and equipment clean and orderly, informing management of any safety concerns.

**WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR**
**Additional Requirements:**
+ Experience working with construction crews with measurable production goals.
+ Flexible availability to include overtime, possible weekends and nights.
+ Work environments will vary making it necessary to tolerate weather conditions, such as rain and extreme temperatures. Employees may be exposed to dust, dirt, varying temperatures, loud noises, etc.
+ Milling equipment operation and related asphalt & road construction experience
+ Thorough understanding of all aspects of the paving industry including preparatory work, grades, drainage, paving patterns, aggregate size, job specifications, oil consistencies, compaction and other details related to asphalt paving.
+ Thorough understanding of the paving milling process ( cold planing, asphalt milling and profiling ) is considered an asset
+ Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.

- Have 3+ years’ experience with operating Wirtgen machines big and small.

About the Job:
Mahler Machining is seeking experienced CNC Milling Machinists to join our tenured and growing team. Our business is a leading high-precision component manufacturer for BC and international customers. No two days will be the same given our company's focus on low-med volume, high complexity work from a variety of industries including deep sea submergence, aerospace, alternative energy, medical, and manufacturing OEMs. Our climate controlled 20,000-square-foot facility in Coquitlam BC and is equipped with 20 CNC machines including a mix of vertical mills, lathes, and 7-axis live tooling machines. We also have a full quality control department with two CMM's and two full-time employees.
Candidates must be confident taking brand new parts from a drawing to a finished component including handling all programing, setting, and operating while working with tight tolerances (microns to 5 thou) across a range of material types. Our team of 35+ team members have extensive experience to learn from and receive coaching from. We support our employees with internal and external training as they look to build their skills.
Ideal candidates have programming experience offline (Gibbscam preferred) or online (Mazatrol preferred).
We are actively recruiting on our day shift (7:30 am to 4:00 pm, Monday to Friday) and afternoon shift (3:45 pm to 1:45 am, Monday to Thursday), as well as overtime as needed.
Required Experience:
- Minimum 5 years of CNC Milling experience setting and operating.
- Minimum 1 year of CNC Milling programming experience.
- Experience working with tight tolerances (microns to 5 thou).
- Experience working with a range of materials (aluminum, mild steel, stainless, exotics).
About our Milling Department:
Our milling department boats eleven CNC machines including 7 Mazak’s, 2 Haas, and one YCM. This includes a mix of 3, 4, and 5 axis verticals and horizontals milling machines covering a wide capability set for milling small and medium sized parts all the way up to parts 84” in length. All of our mills boast through spindle coolant, part probing, and tool probing in machine. Programing is done either on Gibbscam or conversationally through Mazak’s programing language Mazatrol.
Responsibilities Include:
- Program, set up, and operate CNC Milling centers.
- Ability to check machined parts and read technical drawings.
- Ability to fill in detailed paperwork and record dimensions accurately.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace and machine.

Reporting to the Supervisors of CNC Milling and/or Turning, the Machine Operator will set up and operate CNC Milling and/or Turning Centers, maintaining specifications outlined in the operation sheets, ensuring that operation is efficient, safe and that product quality is achieved. The successful candidate will able to work shift work as required.

**Requirements/Key Competencies**
+ Operate multiple Makino 4-Axis Horizontal CNC Milling Centers with Fanuc controller with minimal supervision and with the goal of progressing to setting up
+ Operate multiple DMG Mori multi-spindle, multi axis CNC mill-turn lathes and Hardinge 2-Axis CNC lathes with Fanuc and Mitsubishi controllers with assisted supervision and with the goal of progressing to setting up
+ Following work instruction documentation and procedures to mount fixtures and establish work coordinates
+ Proficient knowledge of cutting tools as well as speeds and feeds are essential
+ Technical ability to read engineering drawing, sketches, interpret drawings and geometrical dimensioning and tolerances (GD&T)
+ Ability to efficiently set up machines for complex parts and interpret inspection reports to maintain tolerances
+ CMM (coordinate measuring machines) knowledge of operation
+ Must have strong mathematical skills in geometry and trigonometry
+ Fully competent in the use of precision measuring equipment and gauges to inspect machined parts and features
**Education and Technical Requirements:**
+ Completion of Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent
+ Completion of two year College Diploma in related discipline of Mechanical Technician - Precision Skills/CNC
+ Four years of experience working in a machine shop environment with CNC machines and while working to extremely close tolerances
+ Analytical decision making with strong attention to detail
+ Ability to identify, select and prepare tooling for machines
+ Effective interpersonal leadership and communications skills
+ Able to work under minimum supervision in a team environment is essential
+ Willingness to learn and acquire knowledge/understanding through study, instruction or experience
+ Possesses strong organizational skills to ensure completion of paperwork and quality reports
+ Ability to be organized, self-motivated, dependable, and work well with others in a multi-tasking environment
+ Demonstrated ability to follow rules and regulations, complying with all Environmental, Health, & Safety Organizational Directives and Instructions and all other Site Directives and Company Policies
