**Job Description:**
Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented **Safety Specialist** to join our team! In this role **you will advise and assist the management team in the establishment and implementation of** **Parsons' ESHARP Management System Procedure** **and the** **Faro Mine Site** **Project Safety, Health and Environmental Plan (PSHEP)** - identifying, communicating and/or eliminating or controlling hazards to persons and property. You will report organizationally to the Faro Mine Site Project Safety Manager.
**What You'll Be Doing:**
+ Attend meetings as requested (e.g., Parsons, contractor, client). Provide feedback on content and quality to Project Safety Manager and other stakeholders as needed.
+ Utilize safety management software to document incidents (including proactive events), meetings, inspections, orientations, observations, and corrective actions.
+ Conduct inspections as requested.
+ Review contractor documentation associated with work activities to confirm a proper hazard assessment has been completed and required permits are in place.
+ Engage managers and supervisors in the risk assessment process for new or modified work activities.
+ Participate in the development and/or review of SWP/SJP/AHA as requested.
+ Provide safety orientations (as needed) to personnel, including Parsons employees, contractors, vendors and visitors.
+ Oversee provision and documentation of first aid treatment and communication to appropriate personnel when applied.
+ Assist manager/supervisor with conducting incident investigations to ensure the identification of root causes and corrective actions.
+ Complete prequalification of potential contractors and review of safety plans prior to mobilization.
+ Develop and/or provide training materials to workers as requested.
+ Maintain active and visible involvement using open communication with employees and stakeholders regarding SH&E issues on the project.
+ Provide assistance as requested with internal or external audits and corrective action plans.
+ Other responsibilities as needed or assigned by the Project Safety Manager.
**What Required Skills You'll Bring:**
+ Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Safety and Health or related field (or equivalent experience) and typically 5+ years of related work experience in the field of Health and Safety.
+ Thorough knowledge and understanding of Yukon health and safety regulations and reporting procedures, as well as good communication and interpersonal skills.
+ Proficient computer skills and use of safety management software.
+ Willingness to be an active participant on a health and safety committee
+ Experience working at an active or inactive surface mine is preferred
+ Emergency response training is preferred
+ Experience with Certificate of Recognition (COR) process is preferred
+ Mine rescue certification is preferred, including but not limited to being medically fit for the nature of the work required
+ Willingness to obtain and/or maintain first aid certification

Job Description:
- Collaborate with the Mine Planning team to develop comprehensive short and mid-range mine plans, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and standards.
- Utilize advanced software to optimize mine plans, considering equipment utilization, ore sequencing, and waste management.
- Conduct regular site visits and pit tours to monitor mining progression, identify bottlenecks, and propose adjustments for optimal productivity.
- Work with the Mine Engineering team to review and optimize design standards for the autonomous fleet.
- Integrate within the production planning, maintenance, and reliability teams to provide recommendations for daily practices on site.
- Foster strong communication with the customer's Mining Automation team to enhance planning and maintenance efficiency.
- Stay updated with industry best practices, technological advancements, and emerging trends in mine planning, maintenance, and reliability.
- Promote and ensure adherence to all safety standards and procedures.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a mining technical role, including mine planning, reliability, maintenance planning/scheduling, or operations.
- Post-secondary education in Mining Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Registration as a Professional Engineer in BC or Alberta is an asset.
- Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) such as SAP, Maximo, or similar platforms.
- Proficiency in using office programs like MS Project, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Demonstrated understanding of best practices in mine design, planning, and operations.
- Knowledge of reliability centered maintenance (RCM) principles and predictive maintenance technologies.
- Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and project management skills.
- Technical proficiency in mine planning software such as Civil CAD, Vulcan, Deswik, or similar tools.
- Commitment to safety and risk management in mining operations.
