**What you can expect to do here:**
As a Senior Designer, you'll bring your technical expertise and leadership mindset to high-impact mining infrastructure projects. You'll:
+ Develop and review 3D models and detailed mechanical layouts using AutoCAD, Plant3D, and other design platforms
+ Establish and refine drafting standards and QA/QC procedures for consistently excellent deliverables
+ Check and validate drawings created by junior team members - and ensure every pixel and pipe meets the mark
+ Own time management across design phases, ensuring projects are delivered efficiently and effectively
+ Mentor junior staff, providing guidance, support, and technical development
+ Contribute to feasibility and detailed mechanical design - from shaft infrastructure to ventilation and processing systems
+ Visit mine sites to validate designs and stay connected to real-world applications
+ Collaborate with clients, cross-functional teams, and other WSP disciplines to deliver integrated solutions
+ Assist with cost estimating for proposals, bringing your practical insights to the front end of project development

**What you'll bring to WSP:**
You're a seasoned designer who thrives in dynamic environments and takes pride in elevating others. You have:
+ A College Diploma (or higher) in Mechanical Engineering Design
+ 10+ years of industry experience with exposure to mining operations (bonus points!)
+ Proven experience in managing and mentoring junior staff
+ A valid driver's license and a flexible approach to both field and office work
+ Proficiency in AutoCAD and Plant3D, with familiarity in:

This position will be responsible for supporting the project management team on delivering engineering deliverables on complex multidisciplinary mining and/or heavy industrial projects from start to finish.

**What you can expect to do here:**
+ You will support Resourcing and Budget Management
+ You will handle coordination of Engineering Deliverables with discipline leads

+ You will prepare and maintain project schedule and cost control reports

POSITION OVERVIEW
Reporting to the Ontario Laboratory Supervisor, the Lab Technician assists the Research and Development Engineer and team by working on quality control as well as research and development projects.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for quality control testing of plant production at the designated plant including: verifying samples, testing products and reporting the results
- Ensure all non-conforming results are reported to the R&D Engineer or the lab supervisor
- Responsible for performing laboratory tests for research and development projects for R&D and communicating the test results
- Order supplies for the lab and maintain lab equipment
- Perform tests for Operations with a goal of improving plant efficiency and reworking non-conforming product
- Support the Sales team by reporting test results to the Technical Sales Representatives and Managers
- Report technical results from job site data collected by the sales team
- Other duties as assigned
- Civil Engineering Technology or Technologist Diploma, Chemical Engineering Technology or Technologist Diploma also applicable
- Relevant laboratory work experience considered an asset
- Experience performing standard concrete quality tests considered an asset
- Ability to communicate (verbal and written) in English required
- Experience using Microsoft Office, Outlook, Excel and the able to learn new software
- Understanding of concrete technology
- Attention to detail
- Works well independently and without direct supervision
WORKING CONDITIONS/ PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Dusty and dirty environment
- Uniform provided
- Hearing protection required in some areas due to loud environment
- Handling of various chemicals (i.e. cementitious materials), proper respirator fit, and wear required
- Substantial repetitive physical effort required – ability to lift up to 30kg
- Safely working with or around moving machinery/equipment
