Working closely with the Fleet/Equipment Manager, the Heavy Duty Mobile Mechanic performs duties and tasks related to the preventative and corrective maintenance of a variety of construction equipment and vehicles. The ideal candidate loves working with their hands, takes pride in their work and likes the challenge of figuring out how to make things work.
What you will be doing:
· Performs preventative and corrective maintenance by troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing all systems associated with heavy equipment and vehicles (mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic)
· Prioritizing repair requirements and schedule
· Inspect and test repaired equipment to ensure work meets operational performance and safety standards
· Evaluate equipment parts for reuse, repair or replacement
· Document time, parts used, and repairs completed in shop system
· Ensures shop, tools and equipment are kept safe, clean and organized
· Assist team members as needed
· Occasional travel to job sites to assist field mechanics on large jobs
· Discuss preventative techniques with drivers/operators to minimize future repairs
· Other related duties as assigned
Requirements
· Relevant experience with heavy equipment
· Excellent diagnostic skills and technical aptitude

Major Responsibilities:
* Demonstrate proficiency in the repair and diagnosis of u2013 with some assistance: Engines (gas and diesel), power train to include differentials, transmissions, clutches, drive shafts, PTOu2019s and wheel ends, electrical systems including starters and alternators, HVAC systems, steering systems, electronics to include ECMu2019s, ECUu2019s, sensors etc., engine bolt on items such as turbos, fan clutches, injectors, cooling system etc., brake systems including ABS, suspension systems (spring and air)
* Perform mechanical and general appearance reconditioning of equipment for u201ctrade-insu201d and prepare new equipment for delivery.
* Identify and determine parts required for repair of disassembled units
* Perform all levels of preventive maintenance services
* Identify warrantable repairs and document on repair order
* Maintain work area appearance and safety
* Road test vehicles when necessary to diagnose malfunctions or to ensure that they are working properly.
* Use hand tools such as screwdrivers, pliers, wrenches, pressure gauges, and precision instruments, as well as power tools such as pneumatic wrenches, welding equipment, and jacks and hoists.
* Inspect brake systems, steering mechanisms, wheel bearings, and other important parts to ensure that they are in proper operating condition.
* Perform routine maintenance such as changing oil, checking batteries, and lubricating equipment and machinery.
* Adjust and replace brakes, tighten bolts and screws, and reassemble equipment.
* Raise trucks, buses, and heavy parts or equipment using hydraulic jacks or hoists.
* Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions, using test instruments such as handheld computers, motor analyzers, chassis charts, and pressure gauges.
* Examine and adjust protective guards, loose bolts, and specified safety devices.
* Inspect and verify dimensions and clearances of parts to ensure conformance to factory specifications.
* Specialize in repairing and troubleshooting of major components such as engine, transmissions and differentials, to include replacing complete assemblies, turbochargers, fuel system components etc.
* Other projects and tasks as assigned by supervisor
Qualifications:
* 2+ years practical experience with tractor trailer maintenance required
* Must be currently enrolled in an apprentice program
* Must maintain membership/registration with respective Government Agencies
* Will consider candidates with a 310S license or automotive background
* Specialized training in the repair and replacement of vehicle components preferred
* Proficiency in the use of shop tools required
* Current driver''s license class G or class 5 and the ability to obtain class DZ it within 6 months of been hired required
* Basic computer skills preferred for data entry into maintenance systems.
* Ability to work in non-climate controlled conditions required
* Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job

This diesel technician/mechanic position at Penske is focused on providing top service to our customers who have roadside assistance needs. This position will be responsible for being able to diagnose and repair all types of maintenance issues on the truck in all weather conditions in the safest manner on the side of the road.
Qualified candidates will have prior, demonstrated experience in tractor trailer repair and have proficiency in the use of all types of repair tools. Individuals must be willing to drive a Penske Road Assist vehicle that is outfitted with tools and supplies.
**Major Responsibilities:**
u2022 Respond timely to road assist calls and repair units by identifying and determining: 1) parts requiring replacement, and 2) warrantable repairs, documented appropriately.
u2022 Perform diagnostics and non-road assist call repairs that can be dropped quickly, as needed.
u2022 Restock rapid assist vehicle with tools, parts, tires, or anything else required to perform an effective road assist.
u2022 Perform maintenance or repairs to road assist vehicle as required.
u2022 When not out on road calls, assist with designated in-shop repairs as directed by supervisor.
u2022 Other projects and tasks as assigned by supervisor
**Qualifications:**
u2022 4 plus years practical experience with tractor trailer maintenance required
u2022 High school diploma or equivalent required
u2022 310T Certification required
u2022 Specialized training in the repair and replacement of vehicle components preferred
u2022 Proficiency in the use of shop tools required
u2022 Driveru2019s license class G required, class DZ preferred
u2022 Basic computer skills preferred for data entry into maintenance systems.
u2022 Ability to work in non-climate controlled conditions required
u2022 Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job
u2022 Willingness to travel as necessary within the district (customers yards, close geographical area and training sites), work the required schedule, work at the specific location required, complete Penske employment application, submit to a reference verification (to include past employment and education) are required

Responsibilities:
- Property & Casualty Service and sales with Life Insurance Sales Support.
- Establish customer relationships
