About the Role:
We are a fast-moving startup developing an ultra-fast qPCR platform paired with a custom-built AI system designed specifically for qPCR data analysis. Unlike generic integrations, our AI is engineered in-house by our software developers to directly interpret qPCR signals, optimize assay parameters, and accelerate decision-making.
We are seeking a PhD-level Molecular Biologist with deep expertise in PCR and qPCR. You will design and optimize protocols for our next-generation system, generate high-quality datasets for AI training/validation, and collaborate directly with developers and engineers to shape how wet-lab and computational pipelines converge.
This is an opportunity to pioneer breakthrough diagnostics technology in a lean, ambitious environment where your contributions have direct impact.
Responsibilities Include:
- Design, develop, and optimize PCR and ultra-fast qPCR protocols tailored to our novel platform.
- Run, troubleshoot, and validate assays across multiple qPCR instruments (Applied Biosystems, Bio-Rad, Agilent, etc.).
- Generate and annotate datasets to support the training and validation of in-house AI algorithms.
- Collaborate with software developers to define metadata, parameters, and edge cases critical for robust AI model performance.
- Benchmark the performance of our custom qPCR + AI system against conventional workflows.
- Document protocols, results, and analyses thoroughly to ensure reproducibility and scalability.
- Stay current on advancements in molecular biology and computational analysis, bringing ideas that push the science forward.
Skills and Qualifications:
- PhD in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Genetics, or related field.

- Must be a post-secondary student enrolled in applied physics, engineering physics or related disciplines (masters or undergrad with at least 3 years of program completed).
- Experience with the following will be considered a strong asset:
- Ion beam/ charged particle physics
- Monte Carlo simulation of ion beam interactions with solids
- Hands-on experience in a lab environment with high vacuum systems and ion beam sources
- Software tools like Python, Excel for recording and evaluating data
- Prototyping mechanical jigs, mechanical design using CAD
- Strong analytical problem diagnosis skills.
- Ability to independently find, organize and present information clearly and concisely.
- Demonstrated record of learning rapidly and mastering diverse techniques.
- Tenacity, persistence, and an inquisitive mindset.

**About the Role**
Position function: Reporting to the Senior R&D Scientist - DAMINAIDE for Caldic Canada, Inc. the individual will be responsible for supporting the Product Management Team in building and growing the Premix & Damin-Aide Solutions through formulation and development of products and customer projects .
Scope: The position will be responsible for leading and completing the R&D process of formulation and development of new products from the concept stage to prototype and full-scale production as well as ingredient matches and modifications for existing products for customers within the specific sector. This role will be an Integral R&D Scientist in the Product Management Team and will provide technology support both internal and customer facing ,leadership and management of R&D specialist Damin-Aide.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Leading, developing and completing R&D projects with a focus on Damin-Aide as defined by the Senior R&D Scientis Damin-Aide or, outlined thru the NPD process.
- develop R&D capabilities for premix solutions to support the growth of the brand.
- Formulation of premix and supplement solutions in specified target markets. ( USA F&B/ NUTRITION/ Companion Animal )
- Responsible for supporting the successful commercialization of new products.
- Collaborate with the appropriate business team to outline new product development and improvement projects.
- Collaborates with Procurement, Sourcing , Replenishment and commercial to develop and execute a comprehensive strategy in support of optimal placement and pricing for current and future portfolio
- Provide support with CDM’s and collaboratively works with and develops customer facing relationships and presentation skills.
- Collaborates with the pricing team to understand cost and develop competitor R&D initiatives.
- Collaborate with Technical and Applications Team to develop, coordinate, prepare and present relevant concepts to customers featuring Caldic manufactured or distributed products
**Knowledge / Skills & Experiences**
- University. M.Sc. – Food Science or equivalent is a strong asset
- Minimum of 5 - 7 years of product development experience in the food industry preferably in Vitamins and Minerals
- Commercial Sales experience is an asset
- Must have strong oral/written communication and good interpersonal skills
- Must have strong presentation skills
- Must have strong computer knowledge and skills (MS Office)
