Accounts Receivable


Position Summary
The primary function of the Accounts Receivable Clerk (ARC) is to perform the day-to-day processing of the accounts receivable transactions to ensure that M'Chigeeng First Nation's (MFN) finances, as they relate to revenues, are recorded in an accurate and timely manner.


Reporting Relationship
The ARC reports to the Finance Manager (FM).


General

  • M'Chigeeng First Nation Post Office
  • Live and promote the Vision, Mission and Values of MFN
  • Comply with all MFN policies and processes
  • Identify areas for efficiency improvements (LEAN methodology) within the Accounts Receivable function
  • Notify supervisor of any discrepancies or non-compliance with policies and processes
  • Maintain the financial records, as it relates to revenues and accounts receivable, for the following affiliates to MFN:
    • M'Chigeeng first Nation
    • She'ndwin Teg Gaming Commission
      Mother Earth Renewable Energy (MERE)
      HIAH

Accounts Receivable Sub-ledger

  • Record accounts receivable and revenues in an accurate and timely manner
  • Ensure that customer information is accurate and up-to-date
  • Reconcile the accounts receivable sub-ledger to the general ledger

Collections

  • Review and monitor the aged receivable listing
  • Recommend an allowance for doubtful accounts
  • Prepare a summary for recommended write offs to be submitted to the FM on a regular basis

Supports to Others

  • Respond to customer enquiries with a focus of maintaining good relationships
  • Inform Department Managers (DM) and FM of expected and received revenues on a regular and consistent basis
  • Assist DMs with queries and budget preparation, as it relates to revenues
  • Support the FM with reports to the Enaagdenjged and or Chief and Council

Accounts Receivable - General

  • Receive, verify and issue receipts for all revenues for MFN
  • Prepare and make bank deposits on a regular basis
  • Maintain accounts receivable filing and record systems
  • Accept online electronic payments through the BMO Merchant Bill Payments module
  • Reconcile and prepare schedules for all major funders, for example, Indigenous Services Canada
  • Record and mail accounts receivable items and/or send to other departments for mailing
  • Perform month end accounts receivable process in support of the preparation of monthly unaudited financial statements
  • Complete the accounts receivable working papers for the year-end financial audit

General Ledger

  • Maintain the general ledger in an accurate and timely manner
  • Create accounts and departments in consultation with the FM
  • Complete all general ledger adjusting journal entries
  • Maintain accurate deferred contribution summaries
  • Reconcile monthly, all banks for MFN and its affiliates as mentioned above
  • Maintain the fixed asset sub-ledger, when implemented
  • Reconcile the inventory sub-ledger to the general ledger, when implemented
  • Prepare month end and year end accruals with the support of the Accounts Payable Clerk
  • Distribute monthly, actual financial results with budgets to the Department Managers (OM)
  • Prepare and maintain an Excel departmental budget template that rolls into a summary
  • Pre-populate departmental salary date prior to distributing template to DMs
  • Populate departmental budgets into a template and when final, import to accounting software
  • Print system generated draft month end financial statements for MFN and applicable affiliates as mentioned above, for the FM's review
  • Complete pertinent working papers in preparation for the year-end financial audit

Other

  • Undertake personal professional development benefitting MFN
  • Complete other duties as assigned by the FM

Qualifications (Education, Certifications, Experience, Licensure)

  • College Diploma in accounting or related field; and
  • Minimum of two (2) years previous work-related experience with accounts receivable
  • Previous experience working with First Nation organizations is an asset
  • Knowledge of the Anishinabek culture and traditions as well as, fluency in the Ojibwe language or willingness to learn, are assets

General Ledger Clerk


Position Summary

**Scope:**
As the HR Generalist, you will support all HR activities at our only Canadian Facility. You will be the first point of contact for all employees regarding employment matters and partner with the onsite supervisory and management team, as well as corporate centers of excellence to achieve business objectives. **Recruitment & Onboarding:**

* Coordinate timely end-to-end recruitment with hiring managers, and Talent Acquisition teams, to fill hourly and salaried roles, ensuring compliance with applicable policies, regulations and laws.
* Schedule and lead onboarding and orientation
* Overseeing agency associate program, fill rates, reconciliation of billing, labour reports, etc.

**Employee & Labour Relations:**

* Act as first point of contact for employee questions and concerns, escalating as needed.
* Partner with HR Manager and supervisors to address employee relations concerns.
* Foster and maintain positive relationships across all shifts
* Coach and counsel supervisors and managers regarding appropriate discipline in accordance with CBA and ESA and track/document results.
* Support labour discussions and arbitrations as needed

**Compensation & Benefits:**

* Support payroll inputs through verification of time entry accuracy, and manual adjustments.
* Educated team members on pension and benefits offerings (vacation, extended health care, EAP, etc.)
* Create a robust employee relations program that includes, but not limited to: performance counseling, and coaching the leadership team(s) on appropriate dissemination of company policies.

* Maintain physical employment and training files

**Other Duties & Projects:**

* Supporting external/3rd party audits
* Supporting Learning and Development programs
* Overseeing hourly staffing process by recruiting, coordinating interviews, extending offers of employment, processing new hire paperwork and coordinating new hire orientation and onboarding of all new hires
* Support company-wide, and site-specific wellness and engagement activities
* Vendor management (office supplies, uniform program, etc.)

**Education:**

* Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree with a focus on Human Resources Management
* CHRP in progress preferred

**Experience & Abilities Requirements:**

* 2 or more years of HR Generalist experience required (Union, production/manufacturing environment experience is preferred.)
* Must have understanding of Ontario Employment Standards and its application (knowledge of OHSA, OHRC, and OLRA is an asset)
* Experience in administering benefit program at a local level including Health, disability, workers compensation and return to work programs.
* Knowledge and experience HRIS systems, Time and Attendance System, MS Office (Word/Excel/Power Point) and Ceridian Dayforce is preferred

**Skilled in:**

* Strong interpersonal skills with a positive attitude

* Works with Production on new concept/processing methods ensuring ‘critical to quality’ processes are understood by manufacturing

As a Content Coordinator (12-month contract), you will develop, produce, and publish engaging, on-brand content across all digital channels to help us connect with our audience, grow our online presence, and support our business goals. Working closely with the corporate Marketing & Communications team, the ideal candidate is a versatile storyteller who can create content for all mediums including graphics, carousels, short and long form videos, and written posts, with a strong understanding of social media strategy, trends, and performance metrics.

This position is a 12-month fixed term and based in our Calgary office.

What You Will Be Working On

* Plan, develop and execute social media strategies and campaigns across platforms (LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, TikTok).
* Create original, visually appealing graphics, videos, and animations for social media that align with our brand identity and voice.
* Collaborate with internal teams (design, business development, subject matter experts) to gather ideas and develop high-quality content that supports key initiatives and campaigns.
* Plan and schedule posts using social media management tools, specifically SproutSocial.
* Monitor, analyze, and report on social media performance metrics, providing insights for improvement.
* Monitor social media channels daily; engage with followers by responding to comments and messages, fostering positive community interactions.
* Stay informed on social media trends, algorithm updates, and best practices; proactively suggest new ideas, formats, and channels to keep our content fresh and competitive.
* Provide overall support to Marketing & Communications team by designing promotional materials such as PowerPoints, infographics, ads, and more.
* Maintain brand consistency across all content, ensuring visuals, tone, and messaging reflect our values and resonate with our audience.

What We Are Looking For

* Post-secondary diploma or bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Graphic Design, or related field.
* 2+ years of experience creating and managing content for corporate social media accounts
* Able to self-manage and be proactive
* Proficiency in using tools such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, After Effects), Davinci Resolve, and/or Canva
* Video editing experience for social-first content (Reels, TikToks, YouTube Shorts) is an asset
* Strong understanding of social media algorithms, engagement strategies, and content planning
* Excellent communication and writing skills
* Strong organizational and time management abilities, with the capacity to manage multiple deadlines

About the Opportunity
Core Accounting:
  • Oversee day-to-day accounting workflows and safeguard the accuracy of financial data.
  • Prepare consolidated results, including handling intercompany balances, eliminations, and currency translation.
  • Develop and roll out accounting policies and procedures, including changes impacting financial systems.

Our client is looking for a Finance Manager for a 12-month contract.

About the Opportunity
General Accounting & Financial Oversight:
  • Supervise account reconciliation activities across all general ledger accounts, ensuring timely resolution of outstanding items
  • Approve reconciliations and journal entries prepared by junior accounting team members
  • Support monthly and quarterly financial close processes, including the preparation and review of journal entries, schedules, and reports
  • Produce full financial statements (balance sheet, income statement, cash flow) and support in delivering financial analysis
  • Identify and address financial or operational discrepancies as they arise
Audit, Compliance & Reporting:
  • Act as the main point of contact for audit-related requests and ensure accurate and timely documentation
  • Prepare and file indirect tax returns (e.g., sales tax) and other statutory filings in line with regulatory deadlines
  • Review contracts and ensure they meet the financial compliance standards of the organization
Receivables Management:
  • Lead the month-end receivables process, including bad debt analysis, aging reports, and necessary adjustments

Process Improvement & Team Leadership:

About You
  • Post-secondary education in Accounting or Finance; professional designation (e.g., CPA) is required

  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and Microsoft 365; knowledge of tools like Power BI and VBA is considered an asset
