Position Summary
Thales requires a Network Infrastructure Engineer who will be responsible for all aspects of Network infrastructure operations. As a Network Infrastructure Engineer, you will be expected to become a SME in several relevant domains and to have full professional knowledge of network infrastructure concepts and company objectives to resolve a wide range of issues in effective and sometimes creative ways. As an advanced engineer, you are expected to do these things with little technical direction and with only general guidance on new assignments.
Key Areas of Responsibility
Define network architecture, norms and best practices. Mentoring and training of new and/or more junior team members.
Administer firewalls and network filters, in both Enterprise, Stores, and cloud networks. Develop and maintain Intrusion Prevention policies.
Networking Protocols/Concepts (Routing(OSPF, BGP), VLAN, Sub-netting, Load balancing, TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP, TLS, SSH). Site-to-site and remote-access VPN connectivity. Network Access Control
Authentication, Authorization and Accounting (to include multi-factor authentication). Web access proxy servers and URL filtering. Network Security policy creation, exception documentation and approval. Help define network security requirements for current and future state end-to-end architectures and platforms to advance security controls and the security posture of the business.
Assist in performing proof-of-concept testing for network security solutions under consideration for purchase and implementation.
Assist in developing and maintaining network security policies, standards, processes and workflows. Provide 7/24 On-Call support for infrastructure related service incidents and follow internal management escalation procedures when necessary (team rotation).
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in a related field of study with a minimum of 5-8 years of relevant work experience or a Master’s degree in a related field of study with 6+ years of relevant work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Skills and Abilities:
Must have:
3+ years working with Palo Alto Firewall.
Must have:
3+ years working with Cisco ISE.
At least one vendor certification (with non-entry-level preferred) in the Network Security arena (Palo Alto PCNSA/PCNSE preferred, Cisco CCNA/CCNP Security, Juniper JNCIA-SEC/JNCIS-SEC, etc.) or equivalent experience.

Special Position Requirements
Schedule:
Core business hours are Monday to Friday, between 9:
30-3:
00pm. Specific work schedule and expected hours of work will be discussed. Some weekend and evening work may be required and will be dependent on projects and customer requirements.
Physical Environment:

  • Lead the technical delivery of projects, including design, configuration, and testing of technical solutions for enterprise-wide projects.
  • Work with vendors, customers, partners, providers, and peer technical staff on implementation, optimization, and security of Network and Security system.   • Perform infrastructure maintenance and upgrades to client environments.
  • Provide incident management and support to the critical issues escalated by Network Security Services Operations, including internal and external communications, team coordination of repair and then root cause analysis efforts.
  • Create and review the documentation of the current Network Architecture and develop Network solutions to enhance existing services.

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Network Engineer to join our dynamic team in supporting our customers. The ideal candidate will be part of a team responsible for supporting a large, complex customer environment. This role requires expertise in managing, troubleshooting, and optimizing a range of network technologies, including Cisco and Nexus switches, Meraki, Palo Alto, and Check Point firewalls, physical and virtual F5 load balancers, and Cisco SANs. The Senior Network Engineer will play a critical role in ensuring network reliability, security, and performance while contributing to documentation and process improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Incident Response and Troubleshooting:

  • Quickly assess and resolve network-related incidents, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
  • Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) and implement preventive measures to avoid recurrence.

Proactive Network Maintenance:

  • Perform firmware updates, patches, and upgrades across all network devices.
  • Monitor network health and performance, identifying and addressing potential issues proactively.
  • Documentation and Process Improvement:
  • Create and maintain detailed documentation, including Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and technical diagrams.
  • Develop runbooks to streamline troubleshooting and resolution processes.

Communication and Collaboration:

  • Provide timely updates and clear communication to stakeholders during incidents and maintenance activities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of network services.
  • On-Call Support:
  • Participate in an on-call rotation to provide 24/7 network support when needed.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

Technical Skills:

  • Switching and Routing: Expertise in Cisco and Nexus switches, with a solid understanding of VLANs, trunking, spanning tree, and Layer 3 routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP).
  • Firewalls: Hands-on experience with Palo Alto and Check Point firewalls, including policy configuration, troubleshooting, high availability and optimization.
  • Wireless and Cloud Networking: Experience with Meraki networks and cloud-based management.
  • Load Balancing: Proficiency with physical and virtual F5 load balancers, including configuration and troubleshooting.
  • Monitoring and Automation: Familiarity with network monitoring tools (SolarWinds) and automation techniques using scripting (Python, Ansible, or similar).

Soft Skills:

  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to provide clear updates and create comprehensive documentation.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.

Experience:

  • Minimum 7–10 years of experience in network engineering roles, with a focus on enterprise-scale environments.
  • Proven track record in incident management, RCA, and delivering network solutions under tight deadlines.
  • Experience with firmware updates, patch management, and hardware lifecycle management.

Certifications (Preferred):

  • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) or higher.
  • Palo Alto Networks Certified Network Security Engineer (PCNSE).
  • Check Point Certified Security Expert (CCSE).
  • F5 Certified Administrator or similar.
