Job Summary
The Network & Infrastructure Engineer willbe responsible for the design, maintenance, monitoring, performance, and administration of our LAN/WAN infrastructure. As a member of our IT Operations team, you will ensure that network connectivity at our facilities meet uptime and QoS standards as well as ensure that our network infrastructure is prepared for future growth and scalability.
Responsibilities
- Proactively monitor overall network performance to identify trends in usage and service across the organization and recommend improvements when applicable
- Assess current infrastructure capabilities including identification of service issues, gaps and risk to business operations
- Preparation and maintenance of network architecture documentation
- Define, document, and enforce network systems & standards including network security policies and network access monitoring and controls
- Oversee data centre networking and operations, including troubleshooting issues
- Responsibilities include supporting multiple locations (Ottawa & Belleville)
- Monitor performance, security, and capacity
utilization to ensure that they are meeting business needs (apply best practice framework / policies).
- Take charge of change escalated Service Desk requests, problem solving and incidents response.
- Frequently be available support any planned support/maintenance/emergency outages to support outside of normal office hours.
- Foster a collaborative team environment and ensure effective communication within the team and with other departments.
- Manage patching & security compliance of network devices and firewalls.
- Administer VPN, certificates & DNS
- Create templates and baseline configurations for network devices
- Manage backup & recovery of network configurations, and ensure high availability configurations are validated to support business continuity; participate in disaster recovery testing
- Support PCI DSS audits to ensure compliance with industry standards.
- Work with vendors and NHL officials to ensure the Leagues network connectivity are met.
- Administer VPN.
- Review, troubleshoot, and maintain Palo Alto firewalls & policies
- Support connectivity to digital displays and arena time-keeping appliances.
- Secondary support for Microsoft 365 applications Exchange online, MS Teams phone, and other applications (when primary support resources are not available)
- Secondary boardroom conferencing solution support / troubleshooting (when primary support resources are not available)
- On-call support 24/7
Professional Credentials you Posses
- University degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or a related field.
- CCNP, CCIP or equivalent certification
Skills and Experience You Posses
- 5 or more years of demonstrated experience in network administration, design, deployment, and security.
- Designing, installing, monitoring, securing, and troubleshooting LAN/WAN including high-availability design, switching, routing, load balancing, firewalls, SAN, VLAN, VPN/SDWAN, WAP, and cabling/patching
- Working in a NOC which monitors and troubleshoots network performance (uptime, QoS) with tools such as Wireshark, CACI, MRTG, PRTG, Nagios, Zabbix, etc.
- Familiarity with open-source network security and enterprise monitoring tools such Snort, Suricata, Zeek/Bro, Sysmon, ELK, etc.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting large multi-tier multi-segmented networks in a complex WAN environment
- Segregating networks to improve security and performance.
- Developing,
maintaining and testing
an enterprise network disaster recovery plan
- Provisioning and maintaining virtual servers (VMware and Hyper V)
- Patching and backup of network appliances and firewalls
- Patching and backup of servers and client devices
- Deploying and maintaining
desktop voice systems (VoIP, SIP trunking)
- Windows Server installation, configuration, and maintenance
- Automating IT Operations tasks with scripting (PowerShell, Bash, etc.)

The Network Engineer plays a vital role in supporting a hybrid network environment spanning WAN/LAN, data center, and cloud platforms (AWS & Azure). Responsibilities include network monitoring, health reporting, managing Palo Alto Firewalls and Prisma Access, conducting design reviews, and optimizing Graebel's network. The ideal candidate will take ownership of the network, proactively identifying and implementing improvements, making thoughtful recommendations on architecture, security, and performance. They must be able to work independently at times, collaborate effectively with the team, and be comfortable working off-hours when necessary for maintenance, upgrades, or issue resolution. Additionally, the candidate should be a flexible team player, willing to assist with general IT-related tasks such as supporting printers, computers, and other devices as needed, recognizing that these duties are not the primary focus but contribute to overall team success.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
+ Design, implement, test, and support new and existing deployments, expansions, environment refreshes, and upgrades on Graebel's hybrid network (on-premises, data center, AWS, Azure).
+ Create technical deliverables including network assessments, capacity planning, detailed design documents, implementation plans, configurations, and change orders.
+ Skillfully design and implement management and control solutions, including (but not limited to) Meraki Dashboard, Palo Alto Firewalls, Prisma Access, Cisco ISE, and IDS/IPS systems.
+ Administer and troubleshoot Palo Alto Firewalls and GlobalProtect VPN.
+ Configure and design network settings, including cloud VNETs, VPCs, VLANs, switches, routers, firewalls, access points, and other devices from multiple vendors.
+ Provide peer reviews of implementations, configurations, and documentation.
+ Assist and mentor team members on deployments, best practices, and security protocols.
+ Engage in continuous learning to stay current on new and emerging technologies.
+ Develop and maintain strong relationships with peers and vendor partners.
+ Configure, implement, and report on intrusion detection systems and firewalls.
+ Define and uphold network security policies and protocols.
+ Provide high-level troubleshooting support for Microsoft Windows Server environments (2016 and newer).
+ Participate in an on-call rotation with the Infrastructure Team.

- Deploy and maintain Cisco network switches and routers
- Review, troubleshoot, and maintain Palo Alto firewalls & policies
- Configure and optimize software defined datacenter networking (VMware NSX-T)
- Investigate network infrastructure issues (including configuration review, packet inspection, etc.)
- Define, document, and enforce network systems & standards including network security policies and network access monitoring and controls
- Facilitate network tasks related to DUCA IT technology roadmap projects & initiatives
- Assist in short and long-term planning for network technology roadmap (including cross-technology and cross-platform configurations, resiliency & High Availability)
- Manage patching & security compliance of network devices
- Administer certificates & public DNS with appropriate third-party services
- Create templates and baseline configurations for network devices
- Manage backup & recovery of network configurations, and ensure high availability configurations are validated to support business continuity; participate in disaster recovery testing when required
- Facilitate technology audits in network categories as required
- Working with the cybersecurity team to ensure security tools are properly in place and configured optimally. This would include vulnerability scanning, IPS/IDS solutions.
- Provide insight to prioritization and scope of security remediations based on networking knowledge & experience
- Share knowledge and collaborate with team members including systems engineers, system administrators, and IT support staff
- Work with 3rd party service providers and vendors to support the network infrastructure
Occupational Experience & Education Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work experience
- 5+ years working in an IT related field
- 3+ years working in a network administration capacity
- Palo Alto firewall & policy management experience required
- Proven experience with software defined networking (including VMware NSX-T & SD-WAN technologies
- CCNA, CCNP certifications or equivalent Cisco networking experience
- Load Balancer, DNS & Certificate Management experience
- Experience deploying and life cycling wireless infrastructure (e.g., Ruckus) an asset

Job Description
The Networking II role provides ongoing administration and support of large enterprise systems consisting of Cisco and other industry Vendors. This includes designing, planning, developing, installing, configuring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing all network software and communication links. This position has expertise on the Cisco routing/switching platform. Networking II analyzes and resolves end user software program and connectivity issues in a timely and accurate fashion and provides end user training where required. This role works with vendors, end users, customer service representatives and other technical staff to resolve advanced hardware/software issues. This position will also need to have excellent communication and presentation skills for customer engagements.
**This is an onsite role in Hamilton at our client site and share an on-call schedule.**
**Responsibilities:**
+ Administer all network equipment, hardware, and software upgrades. Action/resolve incidents escalated by Networking I support and/or customers as per documented guidelines.
+ Available to be on-call.
+ Cabling/Patching within Data Centre.
+ Cisco Wireless troubleshooting a must, familiar with Wi-Fi Surveys.
+ Remote testing/triage to validate alert/event/incidents.
+ Contacting customer helpdesk and/or end user and guiding through advanced triage/troubleshooting to isolate network issue to hardware/cabling/transport.
+ Troubleshooting and resolving higher level network issues, not localized to single sites.
+ Serve as the technical point of contact for the customer, and for the L1 team. Escalating with vendors/customers and troubleshooting issues with their specialists to work through critical/escalated/chronic/aging issues to resolution.
+ Performing triage/troubleshooting with field engineers during site visits and vendor meets to identify/resolve advanced device hardware, configuration and/or software/IOS/Nexus issues.
+ Cisco ACI an asset.
+ Conduct and provide RCAs to customers for major incidents, critical escalations & chronic/repetitive issues.
+ Escalate issues for Level 3 support as per documented guidelines.
+ Provide testing, implementation & validation support for change management.
+ Provide analytical support for problem management activities being performed by Level 3 support.
+ Providing support for tools audit and QA activities being performed by Team Leads & Management.
+ Contributing to documentation and knowledge articles.
+ Participate in technical panel for hiring of Level 2/3 associates.
+ Participate in technical aspects of service transitions.
+ Monitor network performance and troubleshoot problem areas as needed.
+ Allocate time and tasks in the Time Reporting System.

+ Expertise in routing and switching protocols, including BGP, OSPF, VLANs SD-WAN, and VPN technologies. Experience supporting a Tailscale mesh is a plus!
+ Hands-on experience with Cisco, Juniper, Aruba networking equipment and related technologies.
+ Strong understanding of network security principles and best practices, including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and secure access controls.
+ Experience with network monitoring and management tools, such as Logic Monitor and Netbox.
+ Experience with on-premise and cloud technologies including AWS and vSphere.
+ Experience with Terraform is a plus!
