**Overview of the Role or Responsibilities:**

Reporting to the Chief Engineer, this position is responsible for the facility maintenance, ammonia, compressed air, steam, boilers, water treatment, and effluent treatment plant operations.

**Schedule:** 12-hour continental shift. Days and nights.

**Salary: $45.60**

**How you will make contributions that matter:**

- Perform all maintenance functions within the Plant, refrigeration and auxiliary equipment, pumps, motors, high pressure steam plant, etc.;
- Operate all plant refrigeration and heating systems
- Preventative Maintenance on related equipment;
- Complete all required documentation (work orders, log books, etc.);
- Comply with GMP, HACCP, and BRC practices;
- Comply with TSSA requirements and Operating Engineers act;
- Other maintenance/duties as required.

**You are best suited for the role if you:**

- Minimum Third Class Power Engineering or Class B refrigeration;
- College/University degree in related field is an asset;
- Current knowledge in PMP, SOP, HACCP and GMP procedures;
- Minimum Three years of operating and ammonia plant maintenance experience;
- Extensive hands-on experience in manufacturing environment, installation, start-up, troubleshooting, service and field operations of various auxiliary equipment – air compressors, water treatment plants, etc.;
- HVAC knowledge and experience;
- Power control, electrical and mechanical skills;
- Familiar PLC, operation and troubleshooting;
- Familiar with fire suppression and building security system;
- Must be willing and able to work shift work and across shifts, including weekends;
- Must be willing to work from heights
- Proven communication and inter-personal skills;
- Ability to maintain accurate written records and documentation;
- Strong analytical and organizational skills;

Job Summary

Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Assistant Shift Engineer will strive to enhance the province of Ontarios quality of life by providing safe, clean, hydrogen production as part of the Clean Energy initiatives in Ontario. This role will be responsible for ensuring the safety of our employees and our neighbours, be a team player, possess strong leadership and analytical aptitude, show attention to detail, have excellent communication skills, be willing to take part in continuing education, be creative, think logically, have good problem-solving skills, and have excellent technical knowledge. This position is represented by the Power Workers Union.



Responsibilities

Typical duties and responsibilities include but are not inclusive of overseeing shift operations of the Niagara Hydrogen Centre, troubleshooting technical issues and applying operational skills in maximizing energy production and efficiency. This includes the application of problem-solving skills in real time, managing outage activities and aiding in the development of and adherence to operation procedures. The position requires an operator with strong education, knowledge, and experience in the operation of power equipment, gas equipment, auxiliaries and its operational impact on station performance. Accountabilities will include overseeing the activities of assigned staff and planning, organizing, and assigning tasks to ensure the continuous safe, efficient, and economical operation of the Niagara Hydrogen Centre

In addition, the successful candidate will be expected to:

  • Oversee the daily operation of the facility during a 12hr rotating shift schedule
  • Operate equipment safely and reliably, in accordance with O. Reg. 219/01. Execute start-up, shutdown and operation of the plant consistent with Atura Power operating procedures
  • Daily work planning including (but not limited to) the following activities:
    • Communications with the Commercial team, Hydro One, OPG, Hydrogen Customers and all other operations stakeholders
    • Completion of Maximo work orders
    • Completion of all site documentation requirements including the Shift Engineer Log as required by OE Reg 219/01, ensuring completeness and accuracy according to all HHGS procedures and policies.
    • Shift changeover communication & documentation as necessary.
    • Review of all shift logs
  • Training of new employees
  • Engagement of Atura Power personnel as required to support critical management system processes including (but not limited to) the following:
  • Management of Change
  • Hazard Identification
  • Safety Observations
  • Work Authorizations / JSA`s
  • Oversee and carry out all operating, monitoring and reporting activities for all units, common and auxiliary equipment, and systems associated with the electrolysers, compressors, water treatment train, electrical equipment and balance of plant auxiliaries
  • Assist in the loading of Hydrogen trailers at varying pressures at the Hydrogen loading station
  • Coordinate and prioritize shift work activities in conjunction with the planning/work management function.
  • Administer and oversee LOTO.
  • Adhere and operate according to all current Operating and Off Normal Operating Procedures.
  • Communicate effectively through our computerized maintenance management system and be familiar with PLC/DCS/HMI interfaces
  • Participate in the establishment and achievement of plant operational objectives
  • Responsibly perform various safety functions including lockout, hazard assessment/job safety analysis, active control of contractors
  • Participate in routine preventive and corrective maintenance on equipment
  • Willingness to work extended hours, as required, based on operational and business requirements, especially during outages or emergency call outs and work various shift schedules including a rotating 12 hour shift



Qualifications/Competencies:

  • Minimum: Recognized interprovincial 3rd Class Power (Operating) Engineer Certificate
  • 3 Years experience in combined/simple cycle power plants, industrial gas or chemical facilities
  • Experience with refrigeration or compressor station operation
  • Team player attitude, ready to collaborate and participate

This position requires candidates to:

  • Have and maintain a valid drivers license
  • Provide a criminal background check for employment


Physical Requirements:


  • Lift 50 pounds
  • Ascend/descend stairs multiple times during a 12 hour shift and climb ladders

Our team is expanding and looking to hire a Sr. Maintenance Engineer. We are looking for a dynamic and driven candidate interested in joining a fast-growing global company in the automotive sector.

The Senior Maintenance Engineer is responsible for ensuring optimal performance, reliability, and safety of all plant equipment and systems. This role involves leading maintenance strategies, overseeing preventative and corrective maintenance activities, troubleshooting complex equipment issues, and mentoring junior maintenance staff. The engineer plays a key role in continuous improvement initiatives and supports capital projects. Other duties include:

  • Equipment Maintenance and Fault Management
    • Develop preventive maintenance plans (PM) for critical equipment, including die-casting machines, CNC machining centers, and robotic welding lines, to minimize mean time to repair (MTTR). Lead root cause analysis (RCA) investigations for complex equipment failures and implement failure modes and effects analysis (FMEA) to reduce repetitive downtime incidents.
  • Equipment Optimization and Automation
    • Oversee equipment upgrade initiatives, such as transitioning legacy hydraulic presses to servo-driven systems, to enhance energy efficiency and production performance. Collaborate with the automation team to integrate robotic and vision inspection systems, thereby advancing the realization of "unmanned workshops."
  • Introduction and Standardization of New Technologies
    • Assess and introduce cutting-edge technologies within the industry, such as high-pressure die-casting islands and laser cleaning systems, while preparing comprehensive technical feasibility reports. Develop standardized operating procedures (SOPs) for global equipment operation and maintenance and provide training to local teams.
  • Cost and Supplier Management
    • Manage the equipment maintenance budget effectively and optimize spare parts inventory through ABC classification methodology. Engage in technical negotiations for equipment procurement and evaluate supplier proposals from leading vendors such as Fanuc and ABB.
  • Cross-departmental Collaboration
    • Support equipment selection processes for new projects by aligning with product process requirements. Work closely with the quality assurance department to address and resolve customer complaints related to equipment performance.


To be a qualified candidate, you must meet the following
:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in mechanical engineering, electrical automation, mechatronics, or related fields
  • More than eight years of professional experience, including involvement in cross-border projects (e.g., equipment coordination across factories in China, the United States, and Europe) or comprehensive line renovations.
  • Proficient in PLC debugging (Siemens/Mitsubishi), CNC system configuration, and foundational knowledge of the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT).
  • Skilled in using AutoCAD/SolidWorks and equipment data analysis tools (e.g., Pi System).

Position Summary:
We are hiring a Licensed AME or Aircraft Technician with hands-on experience and run qualifications on the ATR 42/72-600 series. The successful candidate will provide technical expertise, lead a team of licensed AMEs and apprentices, and support continuous training and operational excellence within the maintenance department.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform, supervise, and certify maintenance tasks and engine runs on ATR 42/72-600 aircraft in accordance with regulatory and OEM standards
  • Oversee day-to-day line and base maintenance operations, ensuring safety, efficiency, and compliance
  • Lead and mentor technicians and apprentices, providing training and skills development
  • Coordinate maintenance schedules, manpower allocation, and ensure timely project delivery
  • Maintain high standards of documentation and quality assurance throughout all tasks
  • Act as the primary point of contact between technical teams, operations, and management regarding ATR maintenance issues
  • Support the development and implementation of internal SOPs and training programs
  • Ensure compliance with all Transport Canada and company policies and procedures

Qualifications:

  • Valid Transport Canada AME License (M2 preferred)
  • Run-up qualified on ATR 42/72-600 aircraft (must be current or recently active)
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience working on ATR 42/72 series aircraft
  • Proven leadership or supervisory experience in a Part 705 or 145 environment
  • Strong background in technical training, mentoring, or team development
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Flexible, hands-on, and proactive approach to aircraft maintenance operations
  • Must be eligible to work in Canada
