As the largest test lab on the west coast of North America, the High Voltage lab is capable of conducting distribution and transmission level high voltage tests on all types of equipment such as transformers, insulators, switchgear, bushings, cables, instrument transformers, transmission line hardware, surge arrestors, SF6 insulated equipment, and transformer rectifier units (TRUs). The lab’s independent, third-party status, and experienced technical staff of more than 30 years enhance the credibility of manufacturers’ test reports.

Our lab offers a full range of qualification and certification tests, as well as custom testing solutions. Condition assessment tests may be performed in the field or in the lab to evaluate the equipment condition. It also has a long history of conducting forensic analysis investigations to identify the cause of failures and providing expert witness services.

Under the direction of the Division Manager, the successful candidate will provide technical and professional leadership to a team of Engineers and Technicians to achieve work program and department objectives. The Team Lead will excel at enhancing the scope of services and work prioritization to ensure that the team is focused on delivering core work on time, on budget and to the required level of safety, quality, and customer service.

• Lead and support in the execution of projects of varying complexities which would include a variety of field testing, consulting and laboratory work.

• Provide technical guidance and support to the team by actively mentoring and coaching junior members and training the team members in safe operating procedures and best practices.

• Define and lead equipment maintenance activities such as troubleshooting equipment issues, developing maintenance schedule and coordinating maintenance tasks. 

• Actively engage in business development by:
-- identifying and pursuing opportunities for new lab services.

• Provide technical guidance on work prioritization and resource allocation to meet project needs, review work in progress and assess work for accuracy, required results and compliance with Quality and Engineering standards.

• Monitor project progress, resolve scheduling/resource issues, and implement contingency plans as needed.

• Contribute to the development and achievement of long-term strategic and annual departmental goals related to safety, quality, environmental compliance, client engagement, and financial performance.

• Set performance goals, conduct evaluations, manage performance issues, and support staff development through training and career planning.
• Support the Division Manager in building a resilient team through recruitment, change management, staff development/training, and staff promotions.

Qualifications
•    Bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical or mechatronics engineering recognized by universities in Canada.
•    Eight (8) years of relevant engineering experience. Preference will be given to candidates with an Electrical Engineering background and hands-on experience in high voltage testing.
•    Demonstrated a minimum of three years of direct experience in managing all aspects of a highly qualified team of technical experts.
•    Registration as a Professional engineer with the Engineers and Geoscientists of BC
•    Strong project management and goal-setting skills with the ability to work with senior management and subject matter experts.

In addition, the following are desired skillsets: 
•    Strong problem-solving abilities to diagnose and address equipment and testing issues in the lab.
•    Possess strong leadership skills to guide, mentor and coordinate team of lab technicians and engineers.
•    Demonstrated management of a P&L and an understanding of annual planning, budgeting, and business forecasting is an asset
•    Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communications skills including the ability to build successful relationships, make presentations to technical and non-technical audiences and liaise with peers in industry.
•    Excellent risk-based decision-making capabilities
•    Previous experience working in a unionized environment is an asset.
•    Thorough understanding in principles of managing multifaceted multidisciplinary projects; inclusive of budgets, resources, schedules, and deliverables through proposal, definition, initiation, planning, execution, reporting, and closure stages.

Quality Assurance Technician will verify that production activities and staff comply with Food Safety and Quality programs through on site observation, inspections and auditing. * requirements.
* Perform CQP and CCP Verifications daily.
* Input results of on floor checks and verification activities into Redzone Software, perform verifications of production data input into Redzone and perform partial shift signoffs daily of production data.

* Perform microbiological sampling when necessary using aseptic sample collection techniques.
* Perform audits of products including batch controls, component weights, finished weights, organoleptic evaluations along with various other checks, and collect samples of raw materials, in process products and finished products as required.
* Create quality and food safety deviations when programs are not followed and participate in root
* cause analysis activities to eliminate and prevent reoccurrence, and follow-up to ensure they are closed out.
* Initiate product holds and supplier corrective action reports when necessary to ensure customer, internal quality and food safety requirements are met. Ensure documentation is completed and products are adequately labelled and dispositioned.
* Assist in maintenance of prerequisite and CCP monitoring documentation as required.
* Verify production and quality department documentation is complete and accurate.
* Perform various HACCP and SQF related verification activities.
* Participate in external audits (Regulatory, 3rd Party & Customer).
* Lead Internal Audits on Quality and Food Safety Programs as per internal audit plan.
* Follow up on any necessary corrective action items associated with these audits.
* Assist with Employee Food Safety and Quality Training
* Assist in investigation of consumer and customer complaints.
* Ensure Calibrations of key tools and equipment is maintained and current.

**ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:**

* Perform and document inspections and testing for piping/pipelines fabrication/construction to assure compliance with contract documents, codes, standards, regulations, clients’ specifications, and applicable Mastec Canada Quality Manuals.
* Create or revise the ‘Inspection & Test Plan(s)’ for the project and obtain client approval as applicable.
* Ensure compliance with the approved ITPs through:

o Qualification of welders

o Materials verification

o Materials mapping and traceability

o Weld mapping

o NDE logging (confirm clearance before pressure testing)

o Verifying compliance with welding parameters

o Preparation and witnessing of test packages (hydrotesting/pneumatic testing)

o Walkdowns

o Preparation of turnover packages, as required

o Preparation of work packages for Shutdowns and Outages and signoff accordingly

* Train staff and subcontractors on quality requirements
* Review codes requirements and ensure compliance through the implementation of the Mastec Canada Quality Management system
* Inspect and document the receiving condition of materials and equipment for deficiencies
* Inspect and document the site storage conditions to confirm compliance with requirements
* Report and follow-up on non-conforming work and conditions
* Ensure work conforms to project quality plans and specifications
* Act as a role model for, and behave in ways that are aligned with, MasTec’s Core values of Teamwork, Excellence, Respect, Duty, Integrity and Protect, while encouraging other to do so as well
* Other duties as required




**EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:**

* Certification in a trade or equivalent work experience, such as Welding, Pipefitting experience is preferred
* 5 years of relevant experience
* CWB Level 2 required

**Dawson Civil** is looking for an experienced Quality Control Technician to join our team!

In this role you will be a valued member of Dawson Civil, working in a permanent, full-time position of **Quality Control Technician**, reporting to the Manager of Quality. The Quality Control Technician will ensure that quality standards and procedures are met and aligned with legislation and customer specifications. Your base location will be **Kamloops, BC** and will require travel throughout our great province.

**WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE**

* Conducting and coordinating inspections of work activities
* Generating daily reports for works completed, analysis of aggregates / asphalt
* Maintain accurate and detailed records in accordance with the QMS
* Participate in all levels of the organization to continually improve process and procedures
* Manage incidents of non-conformance
* Regular travel, as required, throughout jobsites
* Communicate effectively with the Ministry of Transportation (MoTI), stakeholders, crews, supervisors, and the general public
* Preforms other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate

**WHAT YOU BRING**

* Minimum two (2) years road and maintenance and/or construction experience
* Knowledge and understanding of the MOTI specifications, Master Municipal Construction Documents (MMCD)
* Strong leadership skills, managerial experience and analytical skills
* Strong communication and organizational skills
* Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite

**PREFERRED SKILLS**

* A combination of Engineering technologist designation or similar
* Knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 QMS standards
