Key ResponsibilitiesDaily Operations: Monitor and operate oil field equipment, including wells, separators, tanks, and pumps, to ensure consistent production and safe operation.
Equipment Maintenance: Conduct basic field-level maintenance and report mechanical issues to minimize downtime.
Field Inspections: Perform well checks, read meters, collect samples, and monitor tank levels to maintain operational efficiency.
Troubleshooting: Identify, diagnose, and resolve issues with production systems, including artificial lift equipment.
Production Optimization: Adjust settings on pump jacks, plunger lifts, and other equipment to maximize output and efficiency.
Safety & Compliance: Strictly adhere to environmental, safety, and health protocols – especially in sour gas environments.
Documentation: Keep detailed records of production data, maintenance logs, and incident reports.
Team Collaboration: Communicate regularly with foremen, engineers, and control room staff to ensure alignment and safety.
Emergency Response: Participate in drills and respond effectively to field emergencies or unexpected equipment failures.
Field-Experienced: Proven experience in oil field operations with exposure to pump jacks, plunger lifts, tank batteries, and field-level troubleshooting.
Safety-Focused: Demonstrated commitment to safe operating practices and compliance, ideally with sour gas handling experience.
Technically Capable: Able to work with SCADA systems, conduct field diagnostics, and perform mechanical adjustments as needed.
Problem Solver: Resourceful and confident in identifying and resolving production and equipment issues in remote locations.
Local Resident: Must live within a commuting radius of Grande Prairie – this is a local position with no accommodations or fly-in provided.

As a Field Services Technician , you will be responsible for a wide variety of in-field services such as installing, inspecting, maintaining, modifying, and servicing fire protection equipment and fire suppression systems at commercial, industrial, and institutional sites. Additional, but not limited to duties of this role includes:
- Reading and interpreting diagrams, specifications, schematics, and operational/product manuals;
- Evaluating plans, customer requests, code, and non-conformance issues to determine specific solutions and recommendations for customers and management;

The Opportunity:
Blumetric is looking for a full time Field Service Electrician responsible for the installation and commissioning of water and wastewater treatment systems and maintenance and repair of all ancillary equipment used in the operation of water and wastewater treatment plants. Instrumentation/ PLC experience is required as the position will be responsible for programming controls within our production facility as well as in the field, so all systems function as per engineering and customer requirements.
Job Responsibilities:
- Maintain, install, repair, setup of process control equipment (i.e. controllers, transmitters, final control elements).
- Maintain, repair and calibrate instrument equipment.
- Maintains proficiency in prescribed TSSA, ESA safety procedures, codes and standards.
- Perform special investigation and experimental work as required.
- Application and setup of VFDs.
- Interpret electrical schematics and process flow drawings involving blueprints, PLC or DCS systems.
- Diagnose complex process problems, determines best resolution, and execute safe repair.
- Develop, provide, and ensure complete and proper safety clearances and procedures as required.
- Prepare detailed daily activity log, updates drawings and calibration sheets when required.
- Detailed teardown and repair of control valves, actuators, and positioners. Reassembles, tunes and setup associated hardware.
- Perform simple layouts and fabrications to install or upgrade instrument hardware.
- Respond to service calls on all water and wastewater systems, repair, replace or adjust components where needed.
- Work with Production, Testing, Purchasing and Field Start-up to resolve questions/issues that arise.
- Site work travel required for commissioning and troubleshooting. Typical travel can be expected up to 50% and sometimes on short notice.
- Creating HASP prior to site work.
Key Qualifications, Education, and Skills:
- Four (4) years of experience (minimum) in the electrical field.
- Valid Electrician License (309A or 442A) or equivalent degree is considered an asset.
- Experience in programs such as Allen-Bradley, Automation Direct and Siemens PLC's & HMIs.
- Ability to pay attention to detail, manage time effectively, produce high quality output and meet deadlines consistently.
- Ability to act proactively and work independently in a self-directed manner.
- Be a strong team player.
- Demonstrate strong communication, interpersonal, problem-solving skills.
- A valid Ontario unrestricted G class drivers license (or provincial equivalent) with no more than 6 demerit points accumulated.
