Who You Are

Mikisew is currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Red Seal Plumber/Oil Burner Technician,you will play a vital role in maintaining, repairing, and installing both plumbing systems and oil heating systems across our community. Your expertise will help ensure the safety, functionality, and comfort of our residential, commercial, and public facilities. You will work closely with a team of skilled professionals who are committed to providing top-notch services to our community members.


This position is based in Fort Chipewyan, AB

Roles & Responsibilities:



  • Install, repair, and maintain plumbing systems in accordance with local codes and regulations.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot plumbing issues and recommend effective solutions.
  • Collaborate with other team members to plan and execute plumbing projects.
  • Conduct regular inspections of plumbing systems to identify potential problems and areas for improvement.
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and time spent on each job.
  • Provide exceptional customer service while addressing the plumbing needs of community members.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends and advancements to enhance your skills and knowledge.
  • All other duties as required.


Qualifications

Journeyman Plumber certification or equivalent.

Red Seal Plumber certification is required.

Oil Burner Technician certification

A minimum of 2 years of experience working as a Plumber, with experience in oil burner servicing a plus.

Strong knowledge of plumbing codes, oil burner installation/maintenance codes, regulations, and best practices.

Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing both plumbing and oil burner issues.

Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Strong communication and customer service skills.

Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

This exciting opportunity will allow you to gain hands-on experience and develop essential skills in residential and commercial oil heating systems.


As an Oil Heat System Technician Apprentice, youll work directly under the guidance of a certified Oil Heat System Technician, learning everything from installation and servicing to troubleshooting and maintenance. This entry-level position offers the opportunity to grow your career over a four-year period, leading to an Oil Heat System Technician trade certification.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the installation, repair, and maintenance of residential and commercial oil heating systems under the guidance of experienced technicians.
  • Support routine servicing, inspections, and safety checks on oil-fired heating equipment.
  • Prepare materials, tools, and equipment needed for system installation and repair.
  • Learn to troubleshoot system malfunctions and provide basic repairs under supervision.

  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents (training will be provided).
  • Basic math skills for measurements and calculations.
  • Physical stamina and ability to lift and carry heavy materials and equipment.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Valid drivers license considered an asset.

Responsibilities include:

  • Operation of a 2-ton service and lube truck
  • Performing on-site oil and filter changes, equipment greasing, and fluid level checks.
  • Replacing wear parts and performing small mechanical repairs.
  • Keeping detail records of work performed using the company's asset management software.

Requirements

  • Valid Class 5 Driver's license (or higher)
  • MUST BE ABLE TO DRIVE A STANDARD TRANSMISSION VEHICLE
  • Proven experience as a lube/service technician, or equivalent experience/education
  • Previous experience with scheduled maintenance on construction equipment and trucks
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently
  • Must be able to work outdoors in a wide variety of conditions

Yard Technician

Geotech Drilling Services Ltd. is looking for a motivated Yard Technician to join their team in Prince George! This dynamic role will involve general yard tasks to effectively support the loading and unloading of equipment for drilling programs based across Western Canada. Yard Technician Responsibilities:

  • Performing routine laboring tasks on a daily basis such as yard clean up.
  • Moving, carrying and hauling materials and inventory.
  • Filling requisitions for project work.
  • Operating hand-held equipment and forklift.
  • Sorting, inspecting, and cleaning equipment for future projects.

Qualifications:

  • Ability to prioritize and delegate tasks at hand
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Drilling experience in various methodologies such as Coring, Auguring and Air Rotary considered assets
  • Knowledge of drilling equipment, related tooling and consumables
  • Forklift experience considered an asset
  • Must have valid Class 5/7 (N) License


Rate:

21.00 - 28.00 per hour based on experience.


Schedule:

Working schedule is four days a week, including weekends. Typically this will consist of 10 hours per day and 40 hours per week. The typical schedule is 6:30am - 5:00pm.

  • Safety-Focused: Demonstrated commitment to safe operating practices and compliance, ideally with sour gas handling experience.

  • Technically Capable: Able to work with SCADA systems, conduct field diagnostics, and perform mechanical adjustments as needed.

  • Problem Solver: Resourceful and confident in identifying and resolving production and equipment issues in remote locations.
