Summary :
The Polymers Department is seeking to fill the role of a Process Operator. We are looking for team minded individuals to work in a crew setting. The responsibilities of this position include operating polymer extrusion equipment, pellet transfer systems, refrigeration systems, as well as ethylene gas systems.

Responsibilities:

• Responds to emergencies and operating conditions ensuring that established procedures are followed
• Performs routine operating tasks (i.e. monitor levels, temperatures, pressures, etc.)
• Monitors operating area for abnormal conditions and performs troubleshooting activities (i.e. mechanical or process related)
• Performs any and all sampling as required
• Creates notifications to initiate equipment/unit repairs and assists in preparation of equipment for Maintenance
• Understanding of the job progressions, knowledge requirements and departmental procedures related to the department.
• Understand and execute on all production processes within the work unit
• Understand and execute the support processes for the department and site
• Ensure work unit production targets are met on a daily basis.
• Promote and participate in continuous improvement activities related to both Safety and the process

• High School Diploma or recognized equivalent.
• Fourth Class Power Engineering certificate and a member in good standing with ABSA
• Proof of successful completion of the 4th Class Steam Ticket is require

• 2-5 years Process Operator Experience is preferred
• DCS or DELTA V control system

• This position requires shift work. The shifts will be rotating twelve-hour (days to night) shift schedule.

• Ability to regularly lift up to 50 lbs (22.7 kg) is required

Primary Responsibilities include:

• Operate processing equipment in a fast paced environment.
• Adhere to safety policies and standards set forth by the company.
• Monitor and log process information.
• Troubleshoot process and mechanical issues throughout the facility.
• Perform housekeeping duties in compliance with food safety regulations.
• Conduct in process quality checks through various sampling methods. 
• Operate various pieces of PME.

• Must have 2 years of previous work experience in an industrial setting.

• Must participate in shiftwork rotations and overtime in a facility which has continuous operations, working 200 hours in a 5 week period, including day and night shifts, weekends, holidays, etc.  
• Must be able to work at heights, as well as frequently climb stairs and ladders as required for the responsibilities of the job.
• Must be able to withstand extended periods of walking and standing.
• Must be able to move, lift, push, pull and grasp manufacturing materials, products and equipment of 50 lbs or more, which may require regular bending and crouching. 
• Able to thrive and work in fast-paced, challenging and changing environments, including hot/cold outdoors/indoors, varying degrees of dirt, dust, odor, sound, etc. 
• Able to follow written and verbal instructions.

Job Description

We are currently looking for an experienced Loader Operators with some Process Support experience for a rewarding opportunity with an excellent company in the Surrey/Langley area. This is a full-time permanent position that will be starting on a Sunday to Thursday graveyard shift.

Key Duties:

• Load vehicles, tunnels, and equipment with organic waste.
• Operate mobile machinery to maintain and optimize process equipment.
• Conduct safety inspections to ensure everything is ready to roll.
• Use SCADA systems to monitor and manage daily operations.
• Troubleshoot alarms and coordinate production schedules with the Process Leader.
• Oversee composting and biogas production, identifying and resolving process anomalies.
• Champion safety and compliance in everything you do.
• Collaborate with maintenance and process teams to solve problems and keep operations flowing.
• Contribute to safety meetings and continuous improvement

Qualifications & Requirements:

• Minimum 2 years of experience in a Loader Operator role
• Have a high school diploma (bonus points for post-secondary studies in biology, chemistry, environmental science, or engineering)
• Know your way around SCADA systems (preferred) and have solid computer skills
• Hold certifications like a heavy equipment operator license, valid driver’s license, and ideally First Aid
• A proactive problem-solver who thrives both independently and in a team
• Embrace flexible shifts and are ready to jump in when needed — including on-call

Schedule:

Sunday to Thursday - 10pm to 6:30am
