About the Role
This lab is seeking a talented Orthodontic Wire Bender Technician to join our orthodontic laboratory team. In this role, you will be responsible for fabricating and shaping orthodontic wires used in appliances such as retainers, expanders, and aligners. Working closely with technicians and orthodontists, you will ensure that every appliance meets precise specifications and delivers the highest level of quality for patient care.
Key Responsibilities
- Bend and shape orthodontic wires using specialized hand tools and pliers
- Interpret prescriptions and appliance designs provided by orthodontists
- Fabricate wire frameworks and components for retainers, space maintainers, and other orthodontic devices
- Trim, polish, and finish wire appliances to exact standards
- Maintain accurate documentation of materials used and work completed
- Collaborate with laboratory colleagues to ensure timely delivery of appliances
- Adhere to established safety, hygiene, and quality control protocols
Qualifications
- Previous experience in orthodontic wire bending or dental lab work preferred
- Strong manual dexterity and fine motor skills
- Knowledge of orthodontic appliance types and wire materials (e.g., NiTi, Beta Titanium)
- Ability to read and interpret dental prescriptions and plaster or digital models
- Proficiency with orthodontic pliers and specialized hand tools
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment

Description:
Shanto Dental Ceramics, one of the largest and fastest-growing full-service labs in BC, is currently seeking experienced, skilled orthodontic technicians to work full time in our dental lab.
We are seeking knowledgeable technicians with experience in the responsibilities listed below.
General Responsibilities:
- Custom bend wire framework for various fixed and removable orthodontic appliances
- Design, fabricate or repair orthodontic appliances
- Read and follow detailed instructions from the dental professional
- Prepare dental models for the fabrication of appliances
- Polish and buff appliances
Qualifications:
- CDT/RDT license preferred but not required
- Minimum 2 years wire bending experience
- Knowledge of orthodontic appliances and their functionality
- Be able to multitask and make quick decisions
- Be independent and self sufficient
- Keep up with the fast-paced operation
- Good hand eye coordination
- Excellent time management skills
- Attention to detail
- Ability to work unsupervised
