Job Duties:
- Remove exterior trims and hardware
- Identify and evaluate all painting surfaces to determine the proper level of repair
- Identify and apply corrosive-resistant primers and topcoats for fiberglass and plastic
- Sand, spot fill, price and condition areas of repair
- Mask and tape for multi-tone work or to protect areas that do not require painting
- Apply primers, acrylic enamel, polyurethane, base coat, clear coat and other types of paint using spray painting guns
- Mix paint to blend and match colors
- Dry or bake newly painted areas
- Apply decals, transfers, stencils, specialty refinishing and detailing
- Other duties as required
Ideal Requirements:
- 2-3 years of previous experience in automotive painting
- The ability to work well in a team environment
- Strong attention to detail
- Education in automotive painting an asset

The painter will be responsible for ensuring that all parts are sprayed consistently and high quality in a fast paced environment. Responsibilities will also include identification and discharging of defective products, performing all work in a safe manner, cleaning and maintaining painting and coating, ventilation, compressed air and PPE.
You will:
- Select appropriate paint or mix paints using paint mixing equipment according to a pre-determined formula
- Operate hand-held spray guns to spray paint or coat large items with protective or decorative coatings.
- Clean and maintain painting and coating, ventilation, compressed air, and personal protective equipment.
- Mark, record and report defects.
- Clean and perform preparation of work-site.
- Signal equipment and line operators to facilitate alignment, movement, and adjustment of machinery, equipment, and materials.
- Operate, read, and maintain air monitoring and other sampling devices when working in confined spaces and/or hazardous environments.
- Load, unload, and identify building materials, machinery, and tools, and distribute them to the appropriate locations, according to project plans and specifications.
You have:

About the Role:
Were seeking a versatile, proactive painter with experience in automotive, industrial, or manufacturing environments. Youll be responsible for prepping and painting aerospace composite parts using spray guns, applying primer, paint, and clearcoat, and ensuring top-tier quality and finish.
Job Purpose:
The Painter will prep parts and paint, and utilizing spray guns, apply primer, paint and clearcoat to manufactured composite parts. This person will maintain all paint, paint equipment and accessories as applicable, as well as demonstrate quality workmanship.
Duties & Responsibilities (Other duties may be assigned):
- Follow production work orders carefully and understand order requirements
- Prepare material, check paint viscosity and validate that the parts have been prepared, masked and cleaned accurately prior to painting
- Coat surface of parts, assemblies and finished products with protective or decorative materials such as primer, paint and clear coats using spray gun in accordance with part drawing specifications and engineering documentation
- Completes curing of parts using appropriate baking procedures
- Troubleshoot and correct problems with the equipment/paint booth as they arise
- Maintain paint equipment, spray booth, and PPE
- Regularly clean machines, related equipment, and work areas using water, solvents and other cleaning aids
- Follow ISO 9001 and AS 9100 procedures accordingly
- Adhere to top notch safety standards and work in compliance and provisions of the Occupational Health & Safety Act and the regulations as well within the company policy and procedures
- Assist with other shop projects, duties and responsibilities as needed.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED Certificate
- 1-2 years experience with mixing paint, safety, cleaning lines and using spray painting equipment
- Experience with composites (carbon fiber/fiberglass) an asset
- Experience with clear coating
- Individuals who are detail-oriented, safety-conscious, and comfortable with physical work
- Perform work as outlined on work order with efficiency and on time delivery
- Upon approval, continuing education will be supported by PCI as needed
Working conditions
PCI promotes a safe and clean working environment that meets or exceeds standards prescribed by the Ministry of Labour (Ontario). Work will be conducted indoors in our manufacturing shop. Personal protective equipment will be necessary when operating on the shop floor including safety shoes (CSA Green Triangle) and safety glasses. Respiratory protection, hearing protection, appropriate gloves and work suits will be mandatory as required.
Other conditions include:
Ability to work flexible hours, overtime, and different shifts, on occasion, based on demanding manufacturing schedules
Physical requirements:
Stand for long periods of time. Use their hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls. Repeat the same movements. Bend or twist their body. Climb ladders, kneel, stoop, or crouch for long.
