Responsibilities:
We are seeking a Payroll Analyst who will be responsible for the accurate and timely processing of payroll, performing various clerical task such as data management and keeping employee information that is relevant to payroll and benefit purposes up to date.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Process weekly and biweekly multi-provincial full cycle payrolls for hourly, salary, union, and non-union employees, following employment standard regulations and collective agreements
- Validate time entry, validate approvals, and follow up on any discrepancies.
- Create and maintain payroll profiles for all employees, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Processing changes to employee files, employee salary and benefit changes in systems
- Administer benefit enrollments and terminations.
- Reconcile all Payroll data and output reports, ensuring all policies, procedures, and internal controls are met
- Accurate and timely completion of weekly and monthly remittances such as benefits, pension, WSIB, union dues, garnishments, and other payroll related remittances
- Provide outstanding service to both internal and external customers and partners
- Stay current with payroll regulations, standards and work methods.
Qualifications:

- Required working knowledge of ADP WFN payroll system
- Minimum 1 to 3 years work experience in a payroll department required.
- CPA designation or working towards completion.
- Demonstrated knowledge of payroll and payroll tax laws required. Knowledge of multi-province payroll, federal and provincial wage and labor laws, employee benefit plans, employment practices and payroll taxes.
- Advance Excel skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication in English.
- Written and verbal proficiency in French will be an asset.
- Detail oriented with a high degree of accuracy even while working in a fast paced, dynamic environment
- Ability to prioritize tasks under tight time constrains
- Ability to handle confidential information in an ethical and professional manner
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a solutions-oriented approach
- Excellent client service, strong organizational skills
- Comfortable in a Flexible work arrangement, both remote and onsite

What will you be doing?
As a Payroll Analyst , you will work with employees and our Finance and HR Departments to manage all aspects of payroll processing. Responsibilities include:
• Processing large volume payroll for hourly and salaried employees, including new hires, terminations, overtime, etc.
• Ensuring payroll reporting and payments are compliant with company policy and applicable regulations.
• Working with system programmers to achieve solutions in ADP Workforce Now.
• Responding to employee inquiries and requests regarding payroll.
• Ensuring all statutory and other remittances are reconciled correctly.
• Other duties as assigned.

The primary focus of the Analyst, Payroll is to support Payroll Manager with payroll related projects, maintain payroll system, perform analysis of employee and earnings/deductions/taxes configuration, and administer accurate, efficient and timely payroll execution for employees across Canada. Analyst, Payroll will be responsible for executing payroll for high volume teams across multiple Provinces and uphold the integrity of payroll system and making sure legislation requirements are met and company policies are configured in Ceridian Dayforce.
What you will do in this role:
- Conduct regular analysis of payroll data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement
- Partner and lead process improvement initiatives to ensure efficiency is an ongoing focus for the payroll function
- Work with government agencies and stakeholders performing internal and external audits
- Troubleshoot and resolve data errors that arise from all external systems interfaces
- Setup and maintain employee options; Group Benefits, Vacation and Personal Days entitlement
- Perform payroll JE booking in JDE and work closely with the Finance team on all payroll related financial transactions, initiatives, audits and reconciliations
- Work with Payroll Manager in maintaining Ceridian Dayforce payroll by setting up earnings/deductions/org. structure items in accordance with changing company requirements
- Perform periodic audit of employee set up, earnings and deductions, identify deficiencies and fix accordingly
- Perform quarterly tax forms verification, PIER balancing, analyze mapping for tax forms reporting to prepare for smooth Year End
- Assist Payroll Manager with Year End activities such as year-end adjustments, tax forms issuance (T4, RL-1, T2200, etc.)
- WCB/EHT calculation and reporting
- Accurately run payroll for 2 pay groups (Salaried, Hourly) by processing payroll information including but not limited to master file changes, earnings/deductions/taxable benefits, department, leaves, new hire set up and terminations
- Process and balance payroll expenses, deductions and adjustments
- Provide a timely response from inquiries from Finance, HR, managers and employees
- Provide guidance to the Payroll Team
- Provide back up to the Payroll Manager
- Provide support for project work and other duties as required
What we are looking from you:
- Post-secondary Education with a focus on Administration and or Accounting preferred
- Canadian Payroll Association - PCP is required, CPM preferred
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in full cycle payroll processing in organizations with over 5000 employees
- General knowledge of Canadian employment law and payroll legislation, including multi-provincial payroll requirements
- 2+ years experience with and or working knowledge of Ceridian Dayforce and JDE is preferred
- Experience with unionized payroll environment will have an advantage
