Insight Global is looking for a Payroll Specialist to join a leading HCM/Payroll company for a full-time job that starts off as a 6 month contract through Insight Global. The ideal candidate would be joining the service delivery team and working with small, medium, and national-size accounts which provide end-to-end payroll solutions for these companies. They should have experience managing or running end-to-end, complex payrolls that cover different provinces and unions across Canada. They should have their PCP (Payroll Compliance Practitioner) and have worked in problem-solving or complex process improvement within payroll. Applicants must have valid Canadian work authorization and currently reside in Canada.

Position Summary
The Payroll Specialist position help support our growing client base. This position will be responsible for all payroll-related processing activities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsible for processing our growing client base's payroll using applicable laws, regulations and company policies.
- Payroll Specialists should have knowledge of time clock systems, voluntary payroll deductions, federal/provincial/local taxation, and quality assurance

- Resolve client issues or discrepancies with payroll data & problem resolution for clients/employees.

- Review and calculate pay for status changes, new hires, transfers and promotions
- Calculate terminated employee final pay following the appropriate state laws and regulations
- Resolve issues or discrepancies with payroll data
- Troubleshoot and problem-solve employee payroll and HRIS issues or concerns
- Make necessary entries or uploads to payroll data, which includes adjustments, incentives, additional hours, etc. after appropriate approvals and documentation is received
- Prepare off-cycle payrolls and manual checks as needed
- Respond to all HRIS and payroll questions and inquiries
- Enter new hire information into HRIS
- Manage, maintain, and update Human Resource Information System (HRIS) and specific modules
- Generate reports as requested and for compliance and audits
- Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to efficiently organize work activities to meet daily and weekly deadlines.
- Ability to multi-task with a strong attention to detail
- Good communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment

About the Role
As our Payroll Specialist in our Vancouver office, you will be responsible for end-to-end payroll processing. The ideal candidate brings expertise with ADP systems (especially Workforce Now), strong attention to detail, and a solid understanding of payroll compliance.
Youll play a key role in ensuring timely and accurate processing of payroll, employee expenses, and while supporting financial reconciliations and reporting.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Payroll:
- Process bi-weekly payroll for salaried and hourly employees using ADP Workforce Now.
- Manage employee timesheet submissions and approvals; resolve discrepancies as needed.
- Prepare and post payroll journal entries with correct departmental/project coding.
- Reconcile payroll accounts, ensuring accuracy of wages, benefits, and tax data.
- Maintain employee payroll records, including deductions, garnishments, bonuses, and adjustments.
- Respond to payroll-related inquiries from employees, including questions on taxes, and time tracking.
- Collaborate with HR to ensure accurate onboarding and offboarding payroll data.
- Ensure compliance with federal, provincial and local payroll and tax regulations.
- Generate payroll reports and analytics for internal use.
Employee Expenses:
- Review and process employee expense reports in line with company policy.
- Ensure proper approval and accurate coding of expenses to projects or departments.
- Post and reconcile expense entries in the accounting system.
Our Must Haves:
- Minimum 3 Years of experience in payroll processing with at least 2 years using ADP Systems.
- Experience working in a time-tracking and job-costing environment.
- Familiarity with Deltek, Unanet, or similar ERP systems for engineering/consulting firms.
- Solid understanding of payroll regulations.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other MS Office applications.
- High level of integrity and ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
Compensation: $60,000 -70,000
