Position Summary
IDL is seeking a Labourer/OFA Level 3 (Advanced First Aid) attendant for projects in Prince George and other Project locations. The Labourer is part of an effective construction team that successfully completes projects according to approved plans, specifications, and applicable codes while maintaining high quality and a safe workplace. The successful candidate will represent IDL's safety culture and provide response to crews in the event of an injury, illness, or emergency situation.
Responsibilities
- Administer first aid services to all personnel on the worksite as necessary
- Performs tasks on the labour crew to support operations in the execution of work and assisting various trades
- Provide general construction labour or administrative support, depending on skillset
- May perform other related duties as required
Qualifications
- Occupational First Aid Level Three (3) (Advanced First Aid) is required
- Experience working in a construction environment
- Knowledge and practical experience in incident investigation
- Strong knowledge of WorkSafeBC and applicable regulation
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including good oral and written English and the ability to maintain confidentiality

Abstract Construction is looking for a competent OFA3/Advanced First Aid Labourer to work on our multifamily residential projects in the Greater Victoria/Langford area. You will work on site closely with the Site Foreman, as well as the Site Superintendent to complete a wide variety of construction related tasks. You must be reliable and capable of working, 5 days a week. The ideal candidate would have their own transportation or be able to be at the site for 7:00a.m. start time. Knowledge of safe work procedures is key, safety is our top priority. We have lots of work on the horizon and are looking to add to our team.
Responsibilities
First Aid (level 3), newly named Advanced First Aid designation for the site; CSO or NSCO designation also considered.
Unloading and loading construction materials, and moving them to appropriate areas
Report to site Foreman/Superintendent for tasks/concerns
Tending equipment such as compressors or pumps
Operate gas powered compactors/cut off saws/generators
Operate power tools including chop/table/circular saws, air nailers, hammer drills, etc
Leveling earth to fine grade specs using shovels and rakes
Remove construction waste and debris using shovels, rakes and wheelbarrows
Directing traffic at or near construction sites
Requirements
- Proven experience as skilled labourer
- Able to work in a team
- Able to communicate clearly; knowledge of English (spoken and written)
- Excellent balance and eye-hand coordination
- High school diploma or equivalent
- OFA Level 3/Advanced First Aid is a requirement
- Telehandler certification would be an asset
- Skidsteer experience would be an asset
- Don’t have telehandler or skidsteer training? We can provide this for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities:

Key Responsibilities- Manage the on-site first aid station and respond immediately to injuries
- Administer first aid care (e.g., bandages, oxygen, splints) within the scope of your OFA certification
- Maintain accurate treatment records, incident logs, and reports
- Inspect and restock first aid kits and eyewash stations as needed
- Assist the Safety Officer with toolbox talks and daily hazard inspections
- Coordinate with emergency services and guide EMS personnel if a serious incident occurs
- Valid OFA Level 2 or Level 3 certification (or equivalent recognized first-aid ticket)
- If your certification has expired or you have strong first-aid experience but no ticket, training support may be available
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and communicate instructions clearly
- Physically fit and able to lift up to 40 lbs and move efficiently around a construction site
- Full PPE required: hard hat, steel-toe boots, high-visibility vest, gloves, eye protection
