**Position Overview**
The Computational Sciences group within Autodesk Research is seeking exceptionally talented and experienced Research Scientists to join our team. We are focused on advancing the state-of-the-art for design tools to allow architects, artists, designers, and engineers to "Make Anything". Our research centers around generative methods for the design, manufacturing and construction of objects in the built environment and spans physics-based modeling, simulation, design optimization and inverse problems. You will join a group shaping the future of physics informed AI/ML and its applications in areas of interest to Autodesk. You will work closely with experts in geometric modeling, simulation, robotics, high-performance computing, machine learning, sensing, computer vision, industrial manufacturing and construction.
The Physics Informed AI/ML group will be specifically focused on researching and implementing novel algorithms for physics-informed AI/ML for use in design, simulation and engineering tools. We are interested in physics-based generative models, surrogate and reduced-order models, data assimilation and digital twins, physics-based reasoning and the interpretation of physical results using AI/ML.
**Responsibilities**
+ Research and implement physics-informed AI/ML algorithms, and demonstrate their applicability to areas of interest for Autodesk
+ Design and build physics-informed AI/ML workflows and data pipelines, create and curate training data, develop and test models
+ Work closely with a multi-disciplinary team of research scientists and engineers to conceive, plan, develop, and implement scientific research projects
+ Mentor or lead researchers, engineers and interns (undergraduate, graduate or post-doctoral)
+ Participate in research collaborations with external research institutes and universities
+ Publish papers in peer-reviewed scientific journals/conferences
+ Document and communicate the intent and the results of projects in clear terms to both technical and non-technical team audiences both internally and externally
+ Promote the use of research findings throughout Autodesk
+ Consult with product teams on the implementation of research into products
**Minimum Qualifications**
+ PHD's in Physics or Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering and 3+ yrs of professional experience
+ Excellent knowledge of computational physics and numerical methods, e.g. for deriving and solving the large linear and non-linear systems that arise from discretizing differential equations
+ Knowledge of computational geometry, topology and geometric deep learning
+ Extensive experience with methods that combine modern machine learning and AI/ML methods with computational physics algorithms
+ Familiarity with best practices in data creation, data and workflow management as related to training AI/ML models
+ Experience creating and training machine learning models at scale (e.g. using PyTorch, TensorFlow, Flax, etc)
+ Ability to articulate how physics-informed AI methods relate to more traditional numerical methods, surrogate models, reduced order models and simulation approaches in, for example, CFD or computational mechanics
+ Python and C++. Familiarity with HPC techniques
+ Familiarity with collaborative development environments and version control systems
+ Excellent written and oral communication skills

The IMSR is a non-Light Water Reactor of the Generation IV class that operates at the high temperature required for broad industrial relevance with transformative economic potential. The IMSR plant is capable of grid-based electric power generation and industrial cogeneration in many energy-intensive industries, including petrochemical and chemical synthesis for hydrogen and ammonia production. The IMSR plant offers a near 50 percent improvement in efficiency of electric power generation compared to Light Water Reactor nuclear plants. Its industrial cogeneration capability delivers to todays markets industrial competitiveness, security of energy, and zero-emissions industrial production. The IMSR plants use of existing industrial materials, components, and fuels supports its near-term deployment, setting the stage for a rapid global decarbonization of the primary energy system. The R&D Physics Scientist, under the direction of the R&D Director and in collaboration with the R&D Technical Project Lead (Physics), will contribute to the initiation and execution of test programs to investigate and validate the reactor physics of the IMSR. This role is closely integrated with Terrestrial Energy (TE) Engineering Physics and contributes to the Materials Engineering, Thermal Hydraulics, Instrumentation and Controls, and Chemistry groups within the R&D program. Within this role, responsibilities include:
- Reactor physics modelling and simulation to evaluate the function of reactor core design concepts and interacting systems;
- Criticality, depletion, sensitivity and uncertainty, and shielding analyses to develop physics test setups in alignment with IMSR design requirements and in accordance with applicable safety and licensing standards;
- Preparation of documents tailored to identifying and justifying necessary physics tests in support of the IMSR design, safety analysis, licensing activities, and other integrated system designs;
- Review of internal documents and published literature as related to test identification and experimental procedures to create detailed scopes of work and instrument specifications for test activities;
- Detailed experimental design and test data analysis in coordination with test Supplier(s) and R&D group members;
- Detailed reviews of test Supplier experimental procedures, calibration methods, uncertainty propagation, and data outputs to qualify results, resolve technical issues, and extend analyses to applications required by TE Engineering;
- Application of uncertainty quantification methods to simulation and measurement results;
- Reporting and presentation of Physics R&D activity development, results, risks, assumptions, and constraints to the R&D Director and general technical audiences, and proposing paths forward;
- Collaboration with TE Engineering Physics and other interfacing teams to manage the alignment of modelling and simulation activities as well as to implement relevant R&D results in reactor design development;
- Collaboration with the R&D Project Coordinator to maintain and update the R&D Program schedule, including the status and cost of all projects;
- Contributions to code verification and validation plan development and documentation.

- Experience with experimental design for tests under irradiation and/or for post-irradiation examination activities.
- Demonstrated ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills, including experience delivering technical presentations and writing manuscripts and/or technical reports for subject matter experts.

This position is perfect for anyone who loves working with students, enjoys numbers and equations, and is passionate about helping others build their skills in these areas.
Teacher-Tutors at Oxford Learning do not have to lesson plan before class, as all lessons are pre-planned. Applicants will be fully trained in our proprietary philosophy and methods.
Position Requirements
All Teacher-Tutors at Oxford Learning work during after-school and evening hours (4:00pm - 8:00pm) as well as the occasional Saturday (9:00am - 1:00pm). A commitment until the end of the school year is preferred. Continuing through the summer is even better. Your students will love working with you, and being reliable is a must.
This role is in-person. You must be able to commute to this location. This is not an online position. Relocation packages are not offered.
Vulnerable sector screening is mandatory.

Education :
- Bachelor’s degree or similar certification in a relevant field
- Fourth year university students with extensive tutoring experience will be considered
- Teaching certification an asset
- Good knowledge of the current Grades 9-12 math and science curriculum, particularly senior math and including, but not limited to, Advanced Functions, algebra, trigonometry and Calculus, vectors, and physics.
Experience :
- Some experience teaching/tutoring math and science at a Grade 9 to 12 (or equivalent) level
- Strong English written and oral communication skills
- Strong math skills and ability to guide students’ understanding
- Ability to multitask and balance working with up to three students at a time
Responsibilities (Position Details)
You will work directly with students as an Interactive Coach with the following responsibilities:
- Teaching up to 3 students at a time at different levels
- Teaching online and in-person
- Following the Oxford Learning methodologies and philosophies
- Filling in post-lesson notes
- Completing daily student communication updates
- Maintaining a friendly and professional manner at all times
