Job Description

We are currently looking for a Junior Analyst, Systems Engineering to join our Platforms Team.  The Platforms Team works on designing installations for Communication Systems within ground combat vehicles and other mobile structures. Communication Systems have become some of the most complicated subsystems that are installed with vehicle platforms.  These systems require specialized knowledge and skillsets to design and qualify. The Platforms Team works closely with end customers as well as OEMs in order to ensure the systems are installed in accordance with our strict requirements and function as intended. 

Your day to day responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Contribute to the development of quality requirements for products or subsystems specifications.
  • Perform technical analysis and document in trade studies, technical papers, and interface or design documents.
  • Participate in technical peer reviews by applying engineering knowledge and problem solving techniques.
  • Begin integrating activities with System Integration and Development teams to enable comprehensive solutions.
  • Solve problems by parsing the problem, examining options, gathering appropriate data, and performing analytical assessments.
  • Explain and document technical analysis, assumptions, conclusions, and recommendations.
  • Establish and maintain strong internal and external relationships.
  • Conduct themself professionally in all meetings, activities, and when included in customer attended events.
  • Participate in examination of existing vehicles and installation support of new designs into the vehicles.
  • Develop cable interconnection diagrams for platform cable harnesses and participate in reviews of cable designs.
  • Develop system diagrams for overall vehicle communications suite.
Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or related technical/scientific degree.
  • Able to apply problem solving skills to daily activities
  • Strong communications abilities, both written and verbal.
  • Willingness to learn and grow in knowledge area
  • Knowledge of wireless and infrastructure-based networking principles is an asset
  • Positive approach to learning and trying new things
  • Willingness to travel to vehicle location (typically an army base)

Job Description
Reporting to the Manager, Site Reliability Engineering – Platforms and Data, the Specialist, SRE is responsible for supporting application systems, databases, automated workflow processes, and integrations used in our Capital Markets and Investments Operations & Applications. As part of the technical team, this role will participate in business initiatives and projects related to core investment application upgrades, database administration, and integration activities, as well as supporting automated workflows as part of the overnight processing. Excellent client service, interaction, and communication skills, along with the ability to perform in a high-paced, deadline-driven environment, are necessary.
  • Perform database administration duties across database servers dedicated to investment systems (including MS SQL Server, Azure SQL Server, and Oracle instances).
  • Install and configure various investment systems (Calypso, Eagle Pace, CRD, Frontier), as well as provide direct support, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
  • Develop scripts and automations for data retrieval from third-party vendors and integration between systems.
  • Analyze existing programmatic solutions and workflows to identify opportunities for automation, improvement, and optimization.
  • Maintain and administer application and architecture security standards for investment applications.
  • Manage and support the overnight investment process, including all data flow solutions and enterprise scheduling.
  • Manage all problem and enterprise change management processes, representing investment requirements and maintaining the change management system in a timely manner.
  • Work cross-functionally with both technical and business teams to facilitate the roll-out and ongoing support of major infrastructure and solution enhancements for investment users.
  • Ability to multitask and manage projects with aggressive timelines.
  • Demonstrate high personal and ethical standards with the ability to collaborate across the organization.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients and external vendors, with a specific focus on managing OMERS Capital Markets production environment.
  • Build and maintain documentation for all supported technology platforms and applications.
  • Continuously broaden knowledge, learn new things, and adapt to a multifaceted and evolving technical and business investment environment.
PLEASE NOTE: This role may require some work to be performed outside regular business hours, including evenings, nights, and weekends for troubleshooting and implementation purposes.
 
To succeed in this role:
  • A university or college degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics is a plus, but other programs will be considered.
  • 3+ years of relevant experience in a position related to database administration, scripting, and maintaining business systems, preferably in the investment industry.
  • Solid grasp of database technologies with an emphasis on SQL Server and Oracle. DBA knowledge of SQL Server or Oracle, or both, is a strong plus.
  • Experiences with leading investment applications such as Eagle, Calypso, Charles River, Frontier, and SimCorp are nice to have.
  • Experience with the Azure cloud platform and/or Snowflake is nice to have.
  • Familiarity with investment industry terminology.
  • Knowledge of programming principles and comfort with using common development platforms and languages (PowerShell, Python, VB, Java).

The role

The Cloud & DevOps Practice Lead will be a key resource in growing the Cloud & DevOps business for mobileLIVE. The candidate will take ownership of the practice, direct the strategy & organizational capacity building, key priorities, and decisions. You will

Business Development, Sales and Client Relations

Who you are

  • 15+ total years of experience in IT services/technology and at least 10+ years of experience in Cloud computing technologies, concepts and Cloud consulting, in the areas of Public Cloud, Private Cloud, Hybrid Cloud, Global Cloud technologies.
  • 5+ years of experience in IT or Technology sales roles with good communication skills, proven experience of managing business relations with clients and customers.
  • Extensive knowledge of the software development landscape and experience changing the software development lifecycle.
  • Ability to appropriately target information across technical audiences, clients and executive leaders.
  • Intimate familiarity with architecting solutions on cloud computing platforms such as Azure or AWS.

The role of a Cloud Field Engineering Manager at Canonical

The Field Engineering team is our team of cloud solutions architects at Canonical, working directly with our customers, designing private and public cloud solutions fitting their workload needs. RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Building end-to-end cloud solutions using low-level architecture documents.
  • Works closely with other IT Infrastructure Specialists, Enterprise Architects and Security to design and integrate cloud and on-premises services, enabling secure operations in the cloud environment
  • General administration and operational support of the Kong API Gateway data plane.
  • Manage onboarding of new applications to the API gateway, including approvals for publishing APIs to the marketplace.
  • Oversee and manage issuance, renewal, and revocation of digital certificates via the Venafi Trust Protection Platform.
  • Maintain, upgrade, and troubleshoot the Venafi platform, ensuring system health, high availability, and compliance.
  • Provides leadership in infrastructure migration methodologies and techniques to migrate large scale enterprise applications and services.
  • Implement Infrastructure as a Code delivery pipelines using CI/CD tools and DevOps Tools
  • Design and deployment of pipelines consisting of Docker, ECS, and/or EKS
  • Provide expert hands-on Core AWS technologies including: IAM, ECS, EKS, VPC, ELB, KMS, S3, CloudFront, RDS, AWS-CLI. Experience working with large data sets, data lake,
  • Design and provide support on AWS Data Engineering Technologies– Glue, EMR, AWS Lake formation, S3 as Data Lake, DMS, Aurora Postgres
  • Practice DevOps (Expert Level) – Terraform, Jenkins, AWS Code Build, , Artifactory, AWS CloudFormation , Atlassian Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket,
  • Demonstrate knowledge of Web APIs, UIs, infrastructure, data architecture, security, and new technologies and experience with Cloud API’s, streaming, metrics
  • Ability to script with modern languages including PowerShell, Bash, or Python
  • Investigate and resolve any integration issues that arise during implementation.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Experience

  • 5-10 years of experience working in a Software Development or IT Operational role with at least 5 years working directly in a Cloud Engineering/DevOps roles
  • Proven experience and Strong knowledge of Public Cloud (AWS Preferred) in IaaS/PaaS/Serverless
  • Experience deploying and managing Containers and Container Orchestration (eg. Docker and Kubernetes)
  • Strong experience in Information technology, with infrastructure and platform services automation expertise.
  • Extensive experience with engineering and supporting containerization technology.
  • Proven experience with Kubernetes/OpenShift and Docker.
  • Experience in of industry-leading open-source CI/CD pipeline tools including Confluence, Jira, Rundeck, Bitbucket, Jenkins, Spinnaker, Ansible and Terraform, etc.
  • Experience in developing cloud migration patterns
  • Experience with multiple programming languages such as Java, Python and PHP
  • Experience and knowledge of Infrastructure security environments including cloud security
  • Experience and knowledge of networking concepts
  • Prior experience with information technology in a financial institution preferred.

Education/Training

  • Bachelor’s degree within a business, computer science or equivalent experience
  • Public Cloud Related Certifications (AWS )
