The Lethbridge Police Service (LPS) will be opening a hiring process in January 2024
To apply, Police Officer eligible applicants must:
- Must be a Canadian citizen, or have landed Immigrant status or permanent resident status.
- A Grade 12 Diploma or equivalent.
- Current, class 5 Drivers license.
- Less than 5 demerits.
- Pass the vision and hearing test.
- Not have any criminal convictions for which a pardon has not been granted, or any outstanding criminal or internal investigations prior to an offer of employment being made.
Police officers will participate in the complete recruiting process and meet the same standards set out by the Police Selection and Employment Manual and provincial guidelines for recruiting.
STEPS OF HIRING PROCESS
All components of the selection process will be administered, scored, evaluated and interpreted in a fair and uniform manner. The duration of the process should be approximately two to three months.

- Application packages will be reviewed by recruiting officers prior to the APREP testing.
- APCAT testing can be arranged through the recruiting officer. See dates below or, email the recruiting officer at
- Completion of the APREP physical abilities testing is a perquisite for this position. APREP testing will be arranged by the Lethbridge Police Service. These tests will be booked through the recruiting officer after reviewing the application.
- Personal Disclosure Interview
- After the application package is reviewed by the recruiting officer, competitive applicants will be contacted for a Personal Disclosure interview.
- Behavioral Descriptive Interview
- Given to candidates still competitive after Personal Disclosure interview;
- Successful candidates will move onto the next stage of the process.
- Integrity (truth verification Polygraph) and Psychometric testing (Psychological interview) will be scheduled.
- Security Clearance Check will be conducted.
- Background check will be conducted.
- Successful candidate(s) will be selected and offered the position.

- Report any security incidents, accidents, or hazards immediately to supervisors or appropriate authorities, documenting observations and actions taken
- Collaborate with law enforcement, emergency responders, and other security personnel to coordinate responses to incidents and emergencies effectively
- Maintain accurate logs and records of patrol activities, incidents, and observations, ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements
- Conduct routine inspections of security equipment, vehicles, and emergency supplies, reporting any issues or deficiencies for prompt resolution
- Conduct risk assessments and security audits of client premises, identifying vulnerabilities and recommending security enhancements to mitigate risks
- Participate in training sessions and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge of security procedures, emergency response protocols, and relevant regulations
QUALIFICATIONS (MUST HAVE):
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid Ontario drivers' license - Class G
- Valid provincial Security Guard License
- Valied First Aid and CPR
- Prior experience in security operations, preferably in a mobile patrol or similar role
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed
- Strong observation skills and attention to detail
- Proficiency In using security equipment, and technology, including surveillance systems, radios, and mobile devices
- Ability to make sound decisions under pressure and respond effectively to emergency situations
- Skilled in de-escalation techniques
- Proficiency in security procedures, protocols, and emergency response techniques
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (NICE TO HAVE):
- Additional education or training in security management or related field

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Safely operating a Mobile Patrol motor vehicle in accordance with all laws and regulations;
- Conducting security checks at client sites according to directives, standards and post orders;
- Utilize company cell phones, two-way radios and Tracktik phone app;
- Conducting alarm response to client sites as needed;
- Conducting House Watch patrol if necessary;
- Attending lone worker sites to check on workers when requested;
- Ensuring incident and shift reports are completed including Run Sheets, Vehicle Inspection reports, Key Muster reports, Tracktik reports, Alarm reports and Inventory reports;
- Reporting for shifts on time, and maintaining proper dress and deportment at all times;
- Reporting any unsafe incidents, practices and/or issues;
- Conducting vehicle checks at start of shifts and ensuring any issues are reported accurately;
- Being respectful towards tools/equipment and ensuring proper key control at all times;
- Ensuring vehicles are kept clean and washed as required;
- Maintaining high standard of work ethic and professionalism;
- Promoting a respectful workplace by displaying a courteous, professional attitude;
- Keeping management aware of any unusual incidents;
- Assisting in the training of new Patrol Drivers, and setting a good example at all times;
- Completing any additional assignment as instructed by the Client Service Manager for Mobile Patrols.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Must possess a valid B.C. security workers licence.
- Must possess a valid BC driver's licence with a clean driver’s abstract.

- You can work under pressure and have a calm demeanor.
- You are proficient at operating equipment such as cell phones and two-way radios.
- Able to work independently, especially in the evenings and overnight.

What You Will Do:
- High-visibility patrol of assigned areas, on foot and in company vehicles
- Ensure the security of all personnel, visitors, and the general public
