As a Structural Design Engineer, you will be a part of a growing team that supports all aspects of the construction process by performing innovative design engineering through brainstorming conceptual designs, performing and/or reviewing structural calculations, developing plans, scheduling tasks to meet client needs, as well as mitigating risk to keep our construction crews safe.

# **Location**
This position is based out of our Calgary, AB office with flexibility for hybrid work.
# **Responsibilities**
- Prepare designs for assigned structure(s) including research, selection of lateral force resisting system, analysis, and drawing preparation for power generation projects
- Apply department and industry standards when preparing calculations, project drawings, and project specifications
- Understand and meet or exceed the requirements of the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contract, customer Requests for Proposals (RFPs), professional service agreements, or other contractual requirements
- Research new markets and adapt current process and workflows to successfully execute project deliverables
- Coordinate with internal and external partners including cross-discipline, construction, vendors, fabricator(s), and owners to address structural-related issues or concerns
- Prepare, monitor, and update project plans, schedules, and budgets (including staffing needs) to project management and department management
- Support department managers in achieving performance goals for the department
# **Qualifications**
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Structural or Architectural engineering program from an accredited four-year university program required
- At least three years of experience in structural engineering and design
- Experience in the power industry or industrial markets is preferred
- Functional in utilizing spreadsheets, databases, word processing, and computer operations
- Knowledgeable in engineering software. SAP2000, SAFE, and Mathcad are preferred
- General knowledge of engineering standards including ASCE 7, ACI 318, AISC 360, and IBC
- Licensed Professional Engineer preferred; Candidate with Engineer In Training certificate, or equivalent, and relevant experience will be considered
- Strong written and verbal communication skills

PURPOSE OF POSITION:
The Codes & Standards Engineer position is responsible for ensuring that all IEM’s electrical distribution products and plant and field services operations meet relevant industry standards, codes, and safety regulations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The role is responsible for compliance with relevant industry regulations for multiple electrical distribution product lines. The position will support IEM’s expanding production campuses within the US and Canada. The Codes & Standards Engineer position will include the following functions:
- Provide guidance in the interpretation of technical language and requirements of various codes and standards (e.g., NEC, UL, CSA, ANSI/IEEE C37.20, etc.)
- Ensure IEM’s products comply with relevant industry codes, standards, and regulations, and monitor changes that potentially impact products and/or operations.
- Collaborate with R&D, Product Engineering, and recognized NRTLs to ensure that new product designs are aligned with testing methods and certification requirements.
- Manage UL listing and certification processes including administrative review and maintenance of IEM’s UL files.
- Coordinate with IEM Services, Sales, NRTL Inspectors, and customers for any on-site Field Inspections/Field Evaluations ensuring detailed and accurate record management.
- Analyze the impact of proposed changes to codes and standards on IEM’s products or business and develop strategies to address regulatory challenges and opportunities.
- Develop training and educational materials related to codes and standards for internal and external teams as needed.
COMPETENCIES:
- Detailed technical understanding of industry regulations relevant to electrical distribution products including UL1558. UL891, UL1008, UL67, IEEE C37.20, etc.
- Familiarity of product testing and certification processes (Electrical Manufacturing Industry knowledge preferred)
- Constructive problem solving to address key technical challenges
- Demonstrated success collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams.
- Highly effective written and verbal communication.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, especially Word and Excel.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum 2-year technical degree in electrical/mechanical engineering or related science field.

The Shift Engineer has the responsibility of taking complete care and maintenance of all the mechanical equipment in the hotel including high- and low-pressure boilers, guest rooms and equipment related to engineering.
What you will be doing:
- Attend to all guest issues in 340 guest rooms in the hotel.
- Support Rooms Maintenance personnel in project works in guest rooms.
- Take temperature readings of all supply air units, concourse tenant spaces, meeting rooms, restaurants, guest rooms, converters, walk-in freezers and refrigerators Identifying any issues to rectify.
- Complete walk-throughs in all areas of the hotel to visually inspect, repair and/or report deficiencies.
- Complete maintenance of all other engineering equipment such as Chiller/Cooling equipment, Boilers, Guarded Status, and the Pool.
- Must be a holder of a Provincial 5th class power engineering ticket from the Department of Labour.
