Job Title: Process Operator I

Duration: 06 Months (Temp to perm depending on performance)
Pay Range: $(21.00 – 22.78)/hr on T4
Shift Schedule: Monday – Friday 10:00 PM – 6:15 AM, 38.75 Hours a week – Two 30 minute breaks (1 paid, 1 unpaid)
Training Schedule: Training will be up to two months then transitioning to the night shift. The training will either be Monday – Friday 6:00 AM – 2:15 PM or Monday - Friday 2:00 PM to 10:15 PM. More details to be shared around the offer/clearance of screenings.
Position Summary:

- Manufactures products by operating various equipment in accordance with the Master Batch Record (MBR) and in compliance with EH&S policies, GMPs, and controlled procedures (SOP, EM, WI, JA, etc.) and performing troubleshooting and setup in a basic capacity, as required per Department/Site
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Performs duties in accordance with the MBR and in compliance with EH&S policies, GMPs, and controlled procedures
- Completes all GMP documentation (MBR, controlled procedures, labels, logbooks, validation documentation, etc.) in accordance with Data Integrity
- Independently runs at least one (1) process type and performs all required in process checks (IPCs). Performs ERP data entry and transactions, and verification checks as required
- Conducts basic troubleshooting: Identifies issues and reacts to resolve (i.e. reset and fine tune equipment)
- Conducts basic equipment setup: Programming batch information, setup and configuration of equipment including dismantling, cleaning, and assembly of processing equipment/rooms according to controlled procedures
- Notifies Supervisor when processing issues, product quality concerns and safety incidents occur
- Ensures the proper care, use and condition of tools, equipment, rooms, and GMP area
- Retrieve, move and store materials in appropriate areas of facility, as required per Department/Site
- Supports and engages in OPEX activities/ initiatives (OEE, SMED, RCPS, Kaizen, 5S, etc.)
- Acts as a coach and supports training of new employees

- Requirements should include course of study, degree level and major/field of study
- Required: Minimum successful completion of High school diploma or equivalent
- Preferred: Pharmaceutical Diploma or a university degree in a related science field

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for the safe, efficient, and environmentally sound operation of the rendering/Equacooker system.
Follow established operating practices and standard operating procedures
Responsible for continuously monitoring and making appropriate corrective adjustments as required to maintain the processes under control e.g. production rates, flow rates, levels, temperatures and steam heating, pressures, residence time, etc.
Responsible for maximizing process throughput and operating the equipment as intended without causing material plugs and spills, damage to equipment, causing a risk to health and safety, or negatively impacting the environment
Responsible for reporting and recording all shift activities, events, reportable incidents, production information, maintenance issues, and other data as required (e.g. Shift Report/Log, production/process statistics, inventory sheets, maintenance work requests, HACCP records)
Responsible for communicating all relevant operational information at shift change directly or otherwise through logs and reports etc.
Provide shift coverage backup for holidays, vacation, sick days, or other absences
Maintain good housekeeping in work area

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- 1 years' experience with heavy equipment in a continuous manufacturing process environment.
- Capable of understanding basic physical principles related to flow, steam pressure, temperature and heating, and linear and rotational mechanical forces.
- Must be available and flexible to work shifts as required

The responsibilities of this position include operating polymer extrusion equipment, pellet transfer systems, refrigeration systems, as well as ethylene gas systems.

PURPOSE OF GROUP / UNIT:
The Operations Group works as a team to plan and efficiently execute processes that will provide high-quality services to clients. This position requires Union membership.
PURPOSE OF POSITION:
As a member of the plant operations team, the Process Operator 1 is responsible for following all safety and quality rules and procedures, process setups, process execution, including operation of equipment, process wrap-up, housekeeping, and other tasks as defined by POS procedures and assigned by the supervisor.
PRIMARY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensure assigned process activities are carried out safely and effectively, within the guidelines of the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and within GMP and HACCP standards.
- Ensure policies, safety standards, regulations, and protocol are followed and adhered to.
- Maintain a knowledge and awareness of plant safety and fire prevention as part of each process execution, which may vary from process to process.
- Run simple processes and follow process directives, under the general supervision of the senior operators and Shift Supervisor.
- Assist with running complex equipment runs, cleaning of equipment and tanks, data collection and packaging of final products.
- Ensure accurate and up-to-date records are maintained. Communicate with the process leader as required. Provide accurate and timely communication notes to Shift Supervisors and other team members.
- Maintain the plant area of operation in clean and safe working conditions, including the cleanup of spills from processes.
- Show a positive work attitude in performing assigned tasks. Work effectively with others as a team, and ensure positive and productive work relationships are maintained within the department and company.

This recruitment post is for full-time role based at our Manufacturing facility located at Ancaster, Ontario. The incumbent shall be on an Night shift schedule starting at 10:00pm until 6:30am.

Role Responsibilities :
- Unload, store, open, and dump green coffee beans into the receiving silos
- Ensure the proper quantity and type of green coffee bean is always available from the silos
- Blend, bag and weigh blended green coffee for outbound shipments
- Set-up and safely operate packaging machines including completing start-up checklists
- Perform quality checks, including inspection and cleaning of magnets
- Complete production reports
- Perform basic machine adjustments and maintenance
- Stage, load and unload finished product and raw materials using forklift
- Inspect and receive incoming deliveries, including completing In-bound checklist
- Replenish processing and packaging lines with necessary materials and take away finished goods
- Complete accurate records for all outbound shipments, including Out-bound checklist
- Follow all Health and Safety, GMP and food safety policies and regulations reporting any deviations to the Supervisor
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Ability to safely operate a forklift and other material handling equipment
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to regularly lift up to 50 lbs (22.7 kg) is required
- Proven track record of reliability and safety
- Effective verbal communication skills and the ability to read and follow written instructions
- 2 or more years of experience with production and packaging in the food industry is strongly preferred
