As a Machine Operator, you will be responsible for performing pre-shift inspections and morning start-up of equipment. You will operate manual lathes with a foot press or hand button and strip materials using the overhead crane to move them. You will follow instructions to set up and operate machines efficiently.
**Responsibilities**
+ Conduct pre-shift inspections and morning start-up of equipment.
+ Operate manual lathes using foot press or hand button.
+ Strip materials and handle them with an overhead crane.
+ Set up and operate machines according to instructions.
+ Place material on the mantel to form hoses.
+ Wrap wire around formed hoses and apply fabric to mesh everything together.
+ Place assembled hoses in an oven and conduct quality checks once cooled.
+ Package completed products ensuring no imperfections.

Job Responsibilities
- Set up machine according to work order and operating procedures
- Ensure product meets quality requirements as per work order, operating procedures and customers’ specifications. Diligently inspect product and document
- Basic troubleshooting of machine and process flow
- Read work orders and understand all measurements
- Follow priority schedule and achieve production requirements
- Be fluent in measuring devices
- Safely operate equipment follow ALL safety requirements
- Keep workstation clean and organized
- Work collaboratively with incoming/outgoing shifts
- Full time role – 3-month contract to start with potential to become a full-time permanent role.
- Working continental shift rotations
Qualifications
- Strong measuring skills (tape measure & micrometer experience preferred)
- Exceptional communication skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Mechanically inclined
- Organized
- Basic computer skills
- 1–2-year minimum Manufacturing experience is a requirement

What You'll do
- Responsible to manage the stretcher controls, ensuring that the proper settings are entered so that parts are not over or under stretched
- Understand the stretcher settings and the impact that each setting has on different materials
- Prepare any extruded material for the stretching process
- Detect defects on extruded materials such as stretching and bowing and alert the Press Operator as appropriate
- Able to use measuring devices such as a square and caliper
- Assist in other areas on the line, such as packing, as needed
- Maintain a safe and clean workspace at all times
- Responsible to follow the Occupational Health and Safety Act and all Can Art Company Policies
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 2 years' experience in a machine operator capacity
- Previous experience in heavy manufacturing is an asset
