**POSITION OVERVIEW**

As a member of the Production Team, the Production Lead is responsible for leading all production efforts within the sign & woodshop departments. They will assist in leading a team of sign technicians, print operators and woodshop technician in effective and efficient production operations. Reporting to the Production Manager, the ideal candidate will be a team player who can work well under pressure in both team and individual environments.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**

* Lead, guide, train, and mentor production technicians
* Assign and oversee work allocation
* Participate in interviewing, hiring, and training new team members
* Communicating with other departments regarding potential problems or delays impacting deadlines
* Establish work schedules for operators and technicians
* Review time sheets for accuracy and approval
* Coordinate cleaning and maintenance of production machines (printers, cutters, laminators, etc.) and provide routine maintenance and minor repairs
* Monitor signage print and application processes for quality, accuracy, and consistency
* Complete printing and sign manufacturing processes when required
* Establish good interdepartmental relationships to help balance conflicting priorities
* Establish and review standard operating procedures, practices, and policies
* Monitor and lead worksite safety and compliance within production
* Provide progress reports to Production Manager
* Other duties as required



**QUALIFICATIONS**

* Working experience with SAP an asset
* Experience leading small to medium-sized teams
* Positive hardworking attitude
* Work efficiently and effectively to meet short timelines
* Handle precise calculations in measurements, conversions, and other amounts.
* Experience with Google spreadsheets
* Knowledge of provincial sign specifications in Western Canada is considered an asset
* Experience with manufacturing/lean manufacturing an asset



**HOURS OF WORK**

The typical work schedule will be Monday through Friday 8:00am – 5:00pm with a 30-minute lunch break.

What the position entails:

The primary purpose of the Geomatics Production Lead position is to lead our survey data processing, quality control and survey calculations (Geomatics Tech) team members and processes across the organization.

This person will serve as a team leader for all the Geomatic Technicians at GeoVerra by providing direction, coordination, and support to ensure consistent quality and efficiency across all production operations.
All activities are undertaken in support of the GeoVerra strategic plan.
 

What you will do:


Communication and Coordination:
  • Coordinate with the National Office Production Manager on projects and workflows to ensure all tasks within the survey workflow are scheduled and executed with optimal timeliness and quality.
  • Work with the project managers and production managers to plan Geomatics Tech tasks and allocate effort by gathering project details on existing and proposed projects.
  • Prepare project cost estimates and schedules related to data processing and survey calculations as required.
  • Provide input and recommendations related to the purchase of software, service contracts, CAD equipment and workstations.
  • Liaise with managers and personnel from other departments; attend department and management meetings.
  • Work with Production Standards, CAD IT team and GIS Development team to build high quality, efficient workflows for survey data tasks.
Task Management:
  • Lead the coordination, scheduling, and assignment of all Geomatics Tech tasks, ensuring efficient workflow; closely monitor progress and timelines to ensure overall schedules are met across various departments.
  • Maintain up to date task status and timeline information.
  • Queue work for team members to ensure workloads are managed.
  • Report on project schedules and utilization.
  • Prepare project cost estimates and schedules as related to data processing and survey calculations if required.
  • Collaborate on non-conformance and quality improvement tasks as per the quality management program and lead continuous improvement initiatives related to Geomatics Tech tasks.
  • Perform data processing, quality control on survey data returns and survey calculations are required.
Team development and Management
  • Developing best practices for Geomatics Tech work, including understanding existing software packages capabilities to efficiently utilize
  • Maintain skills matrix for Geomatics Tech team.
  • Lead training initiatives, including developing training material, onboarding new team members and developing existing team members skills. 
  • Participate in Geomatics team recruitment/retention and the performance/salary review process.

What you will bring:

  • Diploma or Degree in Geomatics Engineering Technology, Engineering Design & Drafting Technology, Civil Engineering Technology, or related discipline.
  • Member in good standing or eligible for registration with local Survey or Technologist Association.
  • 5+ years’ experience in AutoCAD and Civil 3D and Trimble Business Center.
  • 2+ years of experience leading projects and/or teams.
  • An understanding of Survey Calcs/CAD/GIS requirements on various surveying projects.
  • Working knowledge and familiarity with the AutoCAD software (Civil 3D, Map), Trimble (Trimble Access, Trimble Business Center, Trimble Connect), Bluebeam, Adobe (Photoshop, Acrobat), Microsoft (Word, Excel, Outlook), Microstation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills required.
  • Ability to mentor and develop team members in technical and leadership skills.
  • Ability to liaise with clients.

The Production Lead Hand is required to organize and manage employees and raw materials for the safe and efficient operation of the production line. Job Duties:
  • Use motorized walkie to transport raw materials from the cooler/freezer locations into the production rooms
  • Support team members daily activities which may include bending/lifting materials from pallet at floor level to table at waist level, de-boxing and unwrapping meat to set up the line for production
  • Operate motorized equipment in a safe manner
  • Follow operating instructions and SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures); troubleshooting/support request from maintenance as needed
  • Produce products as per customer specifications and defined controls from FSQA (Food Safety Quality Assurance)
  • Fulfill customer orders based on defined operational performance indicators
  • Ensure general housekeeping throughout assigned work area
  • Assist in training, cross training, including health and safety, and quality awareness
  • Adhere to all workplace safety policies, procedures, compliance and regulations
  • Use all required PPE (personal protective equipment) safety equipment (e.g. Steel-toed safety boots, safety glasses / goggles, hearing protection, face masks, gloves, etc.)
  • Communicate production requirements to line workers and inform Supervisor if concerns arise
Requirements:
  • High School Education or GED
  • 3+ years’ experience in the food and/or meat processing industry
  • butchery experience would be considered an asset
  • Experience with meat cutting, forming or packaging machinery
  • 2+ years front line leadership experience managing a team
  • Able to communicate clearly and deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and maintain a professional work environment at all times
  • Knowledge of GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices), preferably in a food/pharma/CPG manufacturing facility
  • Punctual, with a strong work ethic, and a positive attitude
  • Organized self-starter with proven ability to co-ordinate production lines and effectively follow up on multiple activities to meet all deadlines
  • Think safety, work safely; responsible for safety of self and others in a fast paced production environment
  • Ability to work independently in a busy environment
  • Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal communication skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environment
  • Working proficiency in basic software; such as labeling machines and emails
