POSITION SUMMARY
As a Welder at New Flyer, you’ll be hands-on in fabricating durable, high-quality buses that keep cities moving. As a Production Welder, you will be using MIG and TIG welding, you’ll follow CWB procedures to assemble critical bus components with precision and craftsmanship.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:
- Perform MIG and TIG welding on a variety of metal components, following precise specifications and blueprints.
- Set up materials and fixtures, ensuring proper fit and alignment before welding.
- Read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings to determine welding requirements.
- Inspect welds for accuracy, making adjustments as needed to meet quality standards.
- Maintain and troubleshoot welding equipment, keeping tools in good working condition.
- Work collaboratively with other welders, fabricators, and production teams to meet daily targets.
- Follow all safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized workspace.
WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:
- Formal welding training or certification, with the ability to pass CWB certification.
- Experience with MIG welding (TIG welding experience or willingness to learn is an asset).
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and welding symbols.
- Strong attention to detail to ensure high-quality, structurally sound welds.
- Physical strength and stamina to lift materials, bend, and stand for extended periods.
- Commitment to safety, teamwork, and meeting production deadlines.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including overtime as needed.

Position Summary:
The Production Welder position will work primarily on at the Production Facility. Welders need to be able to follow instructions and produce consistent, reliable, leak-tight quality welds. The Welder will set up components for welding according to specifications.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Perform manual welding operations using FCAW / GMAW
- Determine the appropriate welding equipment or method based on requirements.
- Set up components for welding according to specifications (e.g. cut material with powered saws to match measurements).
- Operate angle grinders to prepare the parts that must be welded.
- Align components using callipers, rulers etc. and clamp pieces.
- Weld components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions (vertical, horizontal or overhead).
- Test and inspect welded surfaces and structures to discover flaws.
- Maintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety.
Position Qualifications:
- Certified welder preferred
- 1+ years experience in welding
- Strong work ethic, dependable and a positive approach
- Able to stand and walk 8-10 hours per day
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs

**Job Summary**
The Track Thermite Welder is responsible for welding and repairing steel and manages track components. Additionally, the incumbent performs other activities, including maintaining tracks.
**Major Responsibilities**
· Utilize thermite charge kits
· Work safely with molten steel
· Utilize high frequency tools
· Weld and grind carbon steel and manganese track components
· Inspect track work on completion and approve track
· Maintain train operating restrictions in alignment with track standards
· Remove and replace defective ties, rail spikes, and anchors
· Correct deviations in track surface, alignment, and gauge
· Install and repair street and railroad crossings
· Unload and assist in unloading ballasts
· Unload and distribute track material
· Sort used track material for loading, which may be loaded by hand
· Clean up after work completion
· Comply with track safety standards, operating rules, and safe work procedures
· Complete work, material inventory, and inspections reports
**Working Conditions**
· Must be available to work shifts, extensive hours.
· Must be able to work outside the headquarters location, as needed
· Ability to work outdoor in various types of weather conditions with regular exposure to dust, pollen, noise, and vibrations
· Ability to use various common and specialized hand tools
· Must be able to utilize a respirator for some tasks
· Ability to perform repetitive physical activities
· Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds (22 kg) and up to 70 pounds (32 kg) occasionally
· Must have good eye-hand coordination and grasping
**Requirements**
· Federal and provincial welding qualification or equivalent experience
· High School Diploma or equivalent General Education Diploma (GED)
· Valid Driver's License, Class 3 in Quebec or equivalent in other provinces
· Collaborates with others and shares information
· Sets direction and inspires others
· Demonstrates active listening
· Experience in similar working conditions*
· Knowledge of signals or Rail Operating Rules*
· Operator qualifications and experience*
· Experience and training in Mechanical*
· Post secondary trade education*
*Any experience/education/skills/knowledge for these above would be considered as an asset
**Training**
The incumbent attends formal and on-the-job training. The role is required to complete the training program successfully. The incumbent receives classroom training over a period of 4 weeks at 40 hours per week. The training is primarily on health and safety rules and basic machine operator procedures.
