Role Overview

We are seeking a talented Project Director to join our team. In this role, you will lead multiple small capital projects as well as major projects up to $800MM TIC, from proposal development through commissioning. You will engage with clients to define bespoke execution strategies, manage cross-functional teams, and deliver high-impact projects with certainty.

You will thrive in an environment focused on decarbonization, hydrogen innovation, and responsible development . Bilingual capabilities in French and English are required to support our growing portfolio across North America.

Key Responsibilities

1. Leadership

  • Lead and mentor project teams across geographies.
  • Organize and lead the project team; includes mentorship, aligning project objectives and goals, defining roles in the project, and assigning project team members to those roles. 
  • Set performance expectations and foster professional growth through guidance and mentorship.

2. Technical Expertise

  • Develop execution plans, scopes of work, project budgets, staffing plans and schedule baselines during bid phases. 
  • Oversee all phases of project execution from concept through commissioning including the ability to administer contracts and subcontracts.
  • Control and deliver projects to their baseline (scope, budget, schedule,). Develop level 3 schedules to define the logic and sequence of activities necessary for efficient execution and on-time completion.
  • Apply rigorous change control and risk management practices throughout the execution phase to achieve client satisfaction.
  • Acquire and coordinate products and services from external sources including subcontractors, vendors, and fabricators.

3. Communication

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, ensuring transparency, professionalism, and responsiveness.
  • Articulate execution strategies, progress, and key decisions through presentations and regular updates.
  • Demonstrate the ability to manage project changes with diplomacy and clarity.
  • Manage project communications to generate and disseminate information to the project team and internal stakeholders.

5. Compliance and Standards

  • Ensure compliance with engineering codes, health and safety regulations, and company quality standards.
  • Organize phase reviews and integrate lessons learned into future projects.

6. Strategic Contributions

  • Active, client-focused approach to anticipate client challenges, needs, and priorities and become an extension of their organization.
  • Support business development through proposal preparation and effort estimation and demonstrate Sacré-Davey’s value proposition of client focus, speed, and flexibility.
  • Continuously improve project management through the practice of ongoing refinement of tools, standards templates, methodologies, and practices.

7. Mentorship

The Ideal Candidate will:

Skills & Qualifications

  • 10+ years of project delivery experience, preferably in energy, renewable fuels, hydrogen, or industrial gas sectors.
  • Experience delivering both large capital projects and small brownfield upgrade projects.
  • Expertise in proposal writing, cost estimation, scheduling (MS Projects), and execution planning.
  • Fluency in French and English (required).
  • Licensed with the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec.
  • Commercial acumen in budgeting, invoicing, forecasting, and change management.
  • Willingness and ability to travel as required.
  • Familiarity with hydrogen technology applications, safety protocols, and permitting is preferred.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) designation is an asset.

The Project Director is responsible for oversight of the conduct of a program or portfolio of clinical studies or large global multicentered trials with large study budgets. The portfolio may comprise studies for specific customers, and/or a group of studies within the same therapeutic area or indication for more than one customer. The Project Director oversees Project Managers (PMs) who are managing projects ranging in size and complexity from single service studies to large full scope, multiple protocol projects, global projects and/or portfolio of projects. IDEAL PROFILE

Education

  • Bachelor of Science in a relevant discipline.
  • A Master’s degree is an asset.
  • PMP or PRINCE2 Certification is an asset

Experience

  • At least 15 years industry experience and a minimum of 5 years at a CRO
  • At least 10 years of clinical project management experience, including management of all projects phases from start up to closure, management of all functional services, vendor management. Your Role & Impact

As a Project Director, you’ll be the strategic and operational force behind some of British Columbia’s most ambitious marine infrastructure projects. Your responsibilities will include:


- Project Leadership: Manage the full project lifecycle—from planning and procurement to execution and close-out—ensuring safety, quality, and budget targets are met.
- Team Development: Lead and mentor multidisciplinary teams, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Serve as the key point of contact for clients, regulators, and community partners, building trust and ensuring alignment.
- Financial Management: Oversee project budgets, forecasts, and reporting with precision and transparency.
- Contract & Risk Oversight: Negotiate and manage contracts, mitigate risks, and ensure compliance with all regulatory and safety standards.
- Technical Leadership: Apply your expertise in marine construction—including pile driving, crane operations, barge logistics, and deep foundations—to deliver exceptional results.
- Strategic Growth: Contribute to business development efforts and help shape the future direction of VanPile’s marine operations.

What You Bring


- Education: Degree or diploma in Civil, Structural, or Geotechnical Engineering.
- Experience: 10–15 years of progressive project management experience in marine or heavy civil construction, with a strong portfolio of large-scale projects.
- Professional Designation: Registered or eligible to register as a P.Eng., EIT, or AScT in British Columbia.
- Technical Proficiency: Deep knowledge of marine construction methods, contract documentation, scheduling tools (e.g., MS Project), and financial controls.
- Leadership Skills: A proven leader who inspires teams, drives performance, and leads with integrity.
- Communication: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders.
- Other Requirements: Valid driver’s license and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Summary of Position:
Our client seeks an experienced Project Director to assist with their expansion in the Calgary market. This firm already have projects underway in Calgary and are looking for a talented individual to manage projects, whilst also taking on the responsibilities of growing this firm's presence in Calgary, building client relationships and driving local business development efforts. You'd have plenty of support in this role, including extensive business development coaching and training, and collaborating with the partners in Business development efforts and pursuits (they'd fly in to attend meeting with you, etc.). This is an amazing opportunity for someone looking to take their career to the next level!

Role Responsibilities:

  • In collaboration with the principals, develop and implement the strategic plan for launching and growing the Calgary office,
  • Lead architectural project teams to deliver high-quality design solutions that align with client goals, regulatory requirements, and industry standards.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, acting as the primary point of contact and ensuring client satisfaction from project inception to completion.
  • Develop project schedules, budgets, and resource plans to meet delivery deadlines and financial targets.
  • Coordinate closely with internal and external teams, including clients, contractors, consultants, and regulatory agencies, to drive project progress.
  • Oversee the preparation and review of architectural drawings, specifications, and contract documents to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Identify and mitigate project risks proactively to minimize impacts on timelines and budgets.
  • Mentor and guide junior staff, fostering their professional growth and ensuring high standards in project execution.
  • Represent the firm at client meetings, industry events, and networking opportunities, positioning the firm as a trusted partner in Calgary.
  • Work closely with the partners to establish a brand presence in Calgary, including local business development initiatives and networking.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture or related field
  • Professional Alberta Architectural license required (AAA)
  • 10+ years of experience in architectural project management
  • Ideally have been involved in commercial and industrial projects, such as distribution centres, car dealerships, warehouses, etc. with a high level of design quality (this firm has excellent design work), if not, then an interest in pursuing this type of work
  • Strong local market network in Calgary and proven experience in business development and client relationship management
  • Effective leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative approach to team and client interactions
  • Proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, and project management tools such as Microsoft Project
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Alberta building codes, zoning regulations, and industry standards
  • Experience in establishing and growing a team or office location is a plus

As our Project Director, Electrical Construction , you will:

• Lead the planning, coordination, and management of large-scale electrical construction projects, ensuring they’re completed on time, within scope, and within budget.

• Provide strategic leadership and actively promote Health and Safety initiatives across all project teams.

• Drive project performance by monitoring progress, controlling costs, and staying on schedule using Plan Group’s T.I.M.E. efficiency program.

• Identify and resolve high-level project challenges, offering solutions to avoid delays or budget overruns.

• Oversee and ensure the successful execution of project quality assurance, commissioning, and handover processes.

• Champion value engineering and cost-saving strategies to maximize project profitability.

• Guide critical path analysis to help project teams meet timelines.

• Lead pre-job planning, including estimate turnover, project kick-offs, subcontractor selection, and risk management.

• Collaborate with site supervision to ensure optimal resource allocation for labour and manpower.

• Ensure accountability and excellence in project documentation, change orders, material coordination, and site meetings.

• Mentor and develop project managers, providing feedback, coaching, and training to foster career growth and project success.

• Build strong relationships with clients, GCs, and Engineers to drive project success and maintain Plan Group’s reputation.

Our ideal candidate has:

• A post-secondary degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.

• 10+ years of experience in electrical construction, with at least 7 years in a senior leadership or project director role; trade experience is a strong asset.

• Proven track record of managing large-scale commercial and institutional electrical projects.

• Strong expertise in electrical construction, with trade experience considered an asset.

• Knowledge of project management methodologies and tools (PMP, PMI certification is a plus).

• Familiarity with scheduling software like Primavera or MS Project is an asset.

• Exceptional leadership skills with a knack for managing and mentoring diverse teams.

• Excellent communication and people skills, comfortable working with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams.
