**Job Description:**
Parsons needs your Rail and Transportation expertise in Vancouver! In this role, you will get to work with other rail & transit/systems professionals to execute new and upgraded rail system infrastructure projects for our key clients in the Vancouver area **.**
The Senior Systems Engineer will perform a variety of engineering tasks related to project delivery for all stages of the project including writing proposals, developing various project documentation throughout conceptual, preliminary, and detailed design stages, project management, systems engineering, and construction support for the development, integration, testing and commissioning, operation, and maintenance of complex technology systems. The systems engineer will actively support the integration of system processes and methodologies to ensure the effectiveness of total system performance. This role will involve extensive coordination with various internal and external design teams to address issues and progress project activities and deliverables.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
+ Support overall project initiatives (RFP/bid stages) and systems delivery on both greenfield and brownfield projects.
+ Deliver system engineering and integration activities in accordance with ISO/IEC/IEEE 15288 and CENELEC EN 50126, EN 50128, EN 50129, EN 50159
+ Develop and implement systems engineering processes to manage project life cycles including systems engineering, requirements management, and interface and integration management plans.
+ Analyze the design and interface points for various Systems such as: Communication Systems including communication/data networks, fiber optics distribution infrastructure, radio systems and DAS, building structured cabling, SCADA systems, passenger information systems, CCTV, telephony, security and access control systems, and station PA systems; Power Supply and Distribution Systems including traction power and substation equipment; Guideway Intrusion systems; Tunnel Ventilation systems; Power Rail/LIM Rail; Trackwork; Station design elements including fire life safety and other electrical and mechanical systems/components.
+ Interface and coordinate designs with various design disciplines including civil, mechanical, electrical as well as external stakeholders (architects, code consultants, vendors/suppliers).
+ Develop system architectures using model-based system engineering (MBSE) tools and track/manage interfaces through registers and issues logs.
+ Support development and review of specialty engineering deliverables such as EMC, Cybersecurity, Software Quality, and Human Factors.
+ Develop design guideline manuals and technical/performance output specifications.
+ Support construction and installation activities including responding to RFIs, develop/review site instructions, change orders and claims for progress payments.
+ Support testing and commissioning (T&C) activities including development and review of T&C procedures, developing T&C schedule, and performing field inspections and witnessing T&C tests as needed to ensure compliance with design.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
+ Engineering Degree from an accredited institution. An advanced degree may be preferred at this level. Incumbents typically have a BS/MS degree in engineering, technical, or scientific discipline.
+ 8+ years of related professional experience in railway projects
+ Registered (or eligible to register) as a P.Eng. in BC
+ Experience using MBSE tools such as Sparx Enterprise Architect or equivalent to develop architecture diagrams
+ INCOSE ASEP/CSEP certification an asset
+ Functional Safety certification and/or experience with CENELEC standards (EN 50126, EN 50128, EN 50129, EN 50159) an asset

$95,300 - $177,100

**Job Description:**
Ready to take your engineering and management experience to the next level to work on complex Rail Systems construction projects that will have a huge impact on the local community in Vancouver, Canada. Parsons is now hiring a Systems Integration Manager who can lead a team of professionals overseeing the extensive and critical Systems Engineering activities for the Broadway Subway Extension to the Millennium Line, part of the SkyTrain fully automated rapid transit system serving the greater Vancouver area. This role would require you to be located in the Vancouver, BC area.
Parsons' extensive experience in this field, combined with your management and technical guidance, will propel your career forward with opportunities for advancement with top performance. We need our Engineering Managers to be versatile as well as have exceptional communication, analytical, and management skills. In this role, you will provide management and direction for the Systems Engineering team and activities for a major Rail Systems Infrastructure project, to ensure the delivery of a fully integrated and operational extension to the Millennium Line.
Responsibilities:
+ Maintains appropriate staffing level, including temporary personnel, as needed. Reviews and approves staff forecasting reports.
+ Manages the Systems Engineering processes for relevant disciplines required for the project or program.
+ The role will require coordination with the System Safety and RAM teams and processes.
+ Coordinates all Systems Engineering staffing requirements for the program, providing supervision, guidance, and mentoring.
+ Monitors the quality and progress of the Systems Engineering activities on the project, ensuring that performance and process requirements are satisfied.
+ Works closely with other Engineering Managers, including System Safety, System Design, civil and other disciplines to resolve any existing or forecasted problems related to team staffing, quality of work, schedule, performance or delivery.
+ Supports precontract and business development efforts as required, serving as technical consultant.
+ Ensures performance within overhead budgets authorized for the Systems Engineering discipline.
+ Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.
Qualifications:
+ Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering (or related field)15+ years of related work experience, including supervisory/managerial experience in the field of complex systems involving significant software components
+ Professional Engineer registration or able to obtain registration in the Province of British Columbia
+ Proven ability to perform in a supervisory/managerial capacityExcellent written, oral communication and presentation skills, combined with attention to detail
+ Thorough knowledge of industry practices, standards and regulations are required, including the ISO/IEC/IEEE-15288 Standard for Systems and Software Engineering and the EN-50126 RAM and Safety Standard for Railways and other related standards
+ INCOSE CSEP certified an assetMust also possess a thorough knowledge of current technology and the capabilities and efficiencies of specific system engineering software tools for use in completing engineering assignments, including Requirements and Configuration Management.
+ Participates in the application and development of Systems Engineering tools, processes and procedures for the project or for the organization.
