This role is a great opportunity to work on Quality activities for all Nestle Categories of products. You will be working daily with quality management professional and some cross-functional teams' members to strengthen quality process to ensure compliance to Nestle Standards, CFIA and Health Canada regulations
**A** **day in the life of a** **Quality Assurance Intern**
As a Quality Assurance Intern, you will be responsible for driving & sustaining successful change management through identifying opportunities to optimize product specification and quality release process while also developing the capabilities of the department colleagues and 3rd parties processes, and thinking.
**The key activities are the following:**
+ Implementation of Quality Tools.
+ Evaluation of data.
+ Follow up of action plan and planned activities.
+ Training to 3rd parties on the available Digital Tools with proper coaching.
+ Support the team with daily activities as well as some specific tasks (i.e. update of bulk specifications, update list of disqualified products, etc.).
+ Upload and evaluation of documentation to ensure flawless product release execution.
+ Follow up of closure of consumer complaints investigation.

**About the Role**

**Position Function**

Reporting to the Senior QA Specialist, this role is responsible for implementing, managing, and continuously improving Food Safety and Quality Programs. **Knowledge / Skills & Experiences**

- BSc degree, preferably in Food Science or a related field.
- Minimum 7 years’ QA experience in a food manufacturing environment.
- Strong working knowledge of GFSI standards and HACCP programs.
- Experience working with regulatory and certification bodies (e.g., CFIA, FDA, GFSI).
- Strong organizational, time management and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent oral/written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

Position Summary
The Quality Technician is responsible to ensure all aspects of the manufacturing process conform to customer and internal quality requirements, and that only good quality products are being produced and shipped to customers.

What You'll Do
  • Inspect material for compliance to drawings, dimensional and surface finish inspection
  • Quality System Documentation: Assist in maintaining process control documents (SOPs, control plans, risk assessments) to support ISO requirements.
  • Auditing: Conduct internal product and process audits; assist in supplier audits; document non-conformities and track closure.
  • Customer Support: Collect and analyze data to support responses to customer complaints; prepare documentation for customer quality reviews.
  • Perform and manage calibration activities across all plant equipment, devices, and gauges, including recall, scheduling, and records management.
  • Problem Solving: Participate in corrective action teams using structured tools (8D, 5-Why, Fishbone).
  • New Product Support: Assist with quality inspections and documentation during introduction of new products or processes.
  • Continuous Improvement: Track quality performance metrics (scrap, rework, complaints) and support initiatives to reduce defects.
  • Review and disposition material on hold and material returns (RMA) due to quality issues
  • Collect and analyze data and samples in support of quality assurance, inventory control and production posting aspects of EPICS
  • Identify, prepare and machine tensile samples. Perform tensile testing for mechanical properties and enter them in EPICS
  • Responsible for completion of PPAP submissions with paperwork as per customer requirements
  • Audit material hardness prior to packaging
  • Assist production with directing and training temporary and new employees in quality standards
  • Provide manufacturing information by compiling, sorting, and analyzing production
  • Maintain performance records by conducting quality audits
  • Work closely with Die Shop and Sales departments to improve extrusion profile dimensions and surface quality
  • Maintain a safe and clean workspace at all times
  • Responsible to follow the Occupational Health and Safety Act and all Can Art Company Policies
What You Bring
  • Post-Secondary Diploma in Quality Assurance or similar program
  • Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office Suites, ERP systems
  • Experience in a manufacturing plant is an asset

  6. Assist in writing clear release notes for developments you have tested to inform Goway staff how the development will affect them
  7. When a Development is not working as per the specification describe step by step how to get to the failure and what the failure is so it can be reported
  8. Provide detailed recreation steps identifying bugs found so that a case can be opened with 3rd parties
  9. Must be able to understand and load contracts to the system to understand how they interact with the Reservations module
  10. Conduct troubleshooting for any system/technical issues
  11. Communicate with our developers via Jira, Slack, MS Teams and/or Video Conference when needed to resolve time critical issues
  12. Contribute in meetings to review development requests and offer opinions and suggestions where specifications could fail to meet Goway's needs
  13. Manage personal and team goals with the required service level agreements, standards and targets
  14. Liaise with Team Lead to set KPIs and for any procedural Concerns and critical issues
  15. Action Escalated Level 2 Bug cases to confirm they are actually a bug and report to Developers Recreation steps via Jira
  16. Work with Bug and Training Helpdesk Team to ensure API issues are fixed and agents assisted
  17. Offer creative solutions and suggestions for streamlining testing or procedures
  18. Maintain User Manuals and LMS for Travel Agents and Loaders

Job Overview:

This position is primarily responsible for managing the quality, regulatory and environmental programs for Dextran Product's Scarborough, Ontario Facility. This position would be ideal for a quality professional who is seeking a challenging opportunity with a small manufacturing plant that is part of a growing Bio-Pharmaceutical Company.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Management of Multiple Plant Functions:
    1. Management of the Quality, Regulatory and Environmental and Safety Programs at Dextran Products.
    2. Ensure accurate and complete documentation is provided in support of product commercialization.
    3. Author, review and approve quality assurance, compliance, lab, safety and environmental procedures.
  • Manages Quality Assurance and Quality Control Personnel:
    1. Provide leadership to the plant with respect to quality systems, compliance, quality control, safety and environmental procedures and systems.
  • Regulatory Program Management: Manage Dextran's regulatory program to ensure compliance with internal SOPs and external regulations.
  • Corrective and Preventative Action: Conduct internal audits, investigate discrepancies and oversee corrective and preventative actions for all Regulatory programs.
  • Review/Approve Qualifications & Validations: Author, review and approve qualifications and validations related to process equipment and laboratory instruments.
  • Manage Change Control Process: Manage change control program including issuance, approval and communication to support implementation.
  • Customer & Regulatory Audits: Host and prepare for customer and regulatory audits.
  • Quality & Manufacturing Training: Implement and manage the quality and manufacturing technician training program to ensure compliance with procedures and regulations.
  • Quality Control Department Management
    1. Oversees QC testing, reviews and implements testing procedures to ensure compliance with Dextran's QC testing procedures and in order to meet customer order requirements.
    2. Develops, reviews and approves lab testing method validations.
    3. Manages the effectiveness of lab testing equipment through preventative maintenance and ensures adequate inventory of laboratory supplies.
  • Environmental, Health & Safety: Works with Corporate EHS to ensure Dextran's environmental, health and safety program is effective and meets federal and provincial legal requirements.
  • Chemical Safety Program: Manages plant chemical safety program, including developing and implementing procedures, conducting safety training, PPE and chemical handling to ensure compliance with safety and environmental standards and regulations.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Education : Bachelor's degree in Science, Engineering or related field or the equivalent in related experience.
  • Experience : A combination of seven or more years of experience in EHS, quality control, quality assurance and/or compliance within a GMP chemical manufacturing facility.
  • Skills & Capabilities : The ideal candidate will have demonstrated the following abilities:

o Demonstrated working knowledge of quality control testing and be able to review and approve lab testing methods.

o Demonstrated working knowledge of regulatory requirements and be able to create, review and implement procedures and documentation that ensure Dextran's regulatory compliance.

o Capable of building an internal audit program that will ensure compliance with Dextran's regulatory, quality control, quality assurance, environmental and safety programs.

o Leadership to direct plant staff and work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders to drive a level of excellence across the Company's regulatory, quality control, environmental and safety programs.

o Effective communication skills and the ability to critically assess and take decisive action to achieve results.
