Reporting to the Quality Control Supervisor, you will be responsible for performing Quality Control testing of Pharmaceutical and Natural Health products.
**Responsibilities:**
Participating in various testing on raw materials, in-process and finished products using established analytical procedures and compendia methods.
Provide support on equipment cleaning verification in manufacturing area.
Operating HPLC/UPLC instruments.
Preparing various reagents (buffer solutions, standard, mobile phase)
Recognizing out-of-specification or out-of-trend results and assisting in the completion of lab investigation.
Ensure compliance with good manufacturing practices (cGMP) and regulatory requirements in manufacturing of pharmaceutical products.
Participate in the area of occupational health, safety, and wellness.
**Education and Experience:**
Bachelor of Science degree with a Major in Chemistry or related studies and/or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
Strong knowledge of HPLC techniques (min 5 years of experience)
Experience in a pharmaceutical manufacturing environment.
Working knowledge in Microsoft Office with a proficiency in Word and Excel.
Knowledge of the US or European Pharmacopoeia will assist

What You Would Do in This RoleThe Senior Cost Control Analyst is responsible for providing cost control, project change management, progress and performance, forecasting and reporting on multiple projects with focus on timeliness and accuracy. Reporting to the Lead of Project Controls, you will also be supporting the Project Manager and liaising as required with the client, engineering disciplines and project team members. Duties will include:
- Preparing EP Cost Reports and Spend Profiles
- Monitoring commitments, incurred and actual costs
- Change management development and reporting
- Maintaining work breakdown structure (WBS)
- Manpower reporting and updating forecasts
- Calculating Engineering Accruals and analysis of variances
- Setup and updating Timesheet codes and approved budgets
- Earned Value management reporting
- Forecasting risk assessments
- Collaborate with other disciplines including Estimating, Supply Chain Management and Accounting
- Performing ad-hoc project analysis using Excel
- Managing large databases and generating reports
- Performing other duties as requested
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field (commerce, engineering, or similar)
- Eight to twelve years of direct project controls experience
- Previous Capital Projects experience
- Previous Project controls experience with cost reports, spend profiles and change management
- Strong understanding of project cost control fundamentals and best practices
- Exceptional MS Excel skills to analyze and interpret complex data
- Quality focused with acute attention to detail
- A self-starter, able to work with minimal supervision
- Strong communication and influencing skills, both verbal and written
- Working knowledge of EcoSys and Excel Power Pivots
- Field and construction planning experience
- Graduate degree in a related field (commerce, engineering, or similar

General Functions
The Project Control Analyst acts on behalf of The Company and is responsible for project schedules and cost data as used to analyze project progress against baseline plans. The Project Controls Analyst participates in planning, budgeting, contracting, and other project management activities for the purpose of establishing and maintaining appropriate plans, schedule, and budgets in support of the project activities.
Job Tasks and Responsibilities
- Gather, analyze, and report project actuals (task progress and cost) versus planned values in summary and detailed formats.
- Track and manages revisions to the project schedule and cost forecasts.
- Establish and maintain project schedules, budget and tracking of actual costs for the purpose of reporting on project progress, cost and variance.
- Develop and maintain cost and schedule forecasts for use in managing the project to completion.
- Ensure compatibility of project plans, schedules, estimates, risk plans, related operations, and maintenance work.
- Monitor, identify, and highlight schedule critical path, non-critical activities and risks.
- Monitor and enforce the quality of project schedules, estimates, budgets, costs and related reports.
- Ensure appropriate industry practices are used in project work plans and schedules.
- Instruct other team members in learning, establishing, and using appropriate industry practices in contracting, making progress payments, cost analysis, tracking costs, and reporting on costs.
- Gather, merge, analyze, reconcile, and report on project progress including Earned Value Analysis (EVA).
- Identify risks, current and emerging issues in accordance with project risk and issue management practices.
- Provide input to formal project reporting in support of the Project Manager.
- Establish and maintain other project controls as required e.g., documentation, etc.
- Manage changes to the work through facilitating the appropriate level approval of change management documents.
- Prepare month-end accruals for work.
- Where required, facilitate independent auditing or sample auditing by internal auditors.
- Coordinate close-out activities e.g., initiate financial closeout, contribute to Benefits Realization report, participate in lessons learned discussions, etc.
Mandatory Requirements
- University degree in Engineering or Business Administration or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible work experience in project controls within a large capital project with preference given to electrical utility sector.
Education and Experience Preferences
- Experience in excess of four (3) years’ work experience related to in project controls within a large capital project with preference given to electrical utility sector.
- Experience in project planning, scheduling, cost control and risk management areas.
- Experience in in the field of estimating/cost engineering would be considered and asset.
- Formal training in project management methodologies. Certification as a Certified associate in project management (CAPM) or as a Project Management Professional (PMP) would be considered an asset Work experience and/or accreditation in the areas of Safety inspection.

The Mactaquac Life Achievement Project (MLAP) is NB Power’s initiative to extend the lifespan of the Mactaquac Generating Station. Built in 1968, the station has faced structural issues due to alkali-aggregate reaction in its concrete. MLAP proposes a long-term strategy of maintenance, equipment upgrades, and environmental enhancements including improved fish passage.
Description of work:
- A critical role to provide cost reporting to the project team. This role will develop, track and update cost KPIs and reports in collaboration with Project Accountant, Project Scheduler, Contract Administrator and other key management team members.
