  • Inspection & test planning: Lead creation and approval of ITPs, hold/witness points, method statements, and checklists for civil/structural, stations, systems interfaces, and finishes (e.g., concrete, reinforcing, structural steel, welding, waterproofing, track support, architectural).
  • Design quality: Oversee design verification/validation processes, design reviews, constructability and maintainability checks, and configuration control with the design lead (WSP) and construction JVs.
  • Materials & workmanship compliance: Ensure conformance to CSA/OPSS/TBM/Metrolinx standards (e.g., CSA A23.1, CSA G40.21, CSA W59/W47, OPSS for concrete/structures), manage laboratory testing, and certify results.

Successful completion of a diploma/degree/certificate; an Engineering field is preferred, or in Trades and Technology.
At least 2 years of experience in construction in either the residential, commercial, institutional, industrial, factory building, or modular manufacturing sectors is preferred.
Previous experience in a QA/QC role is preferred.

Comprehensive experience reading specifications, drawings, and other associated project documentation.

Public Works and Government Services Canada, Level 2 Secret clearance will be required which includes 10 years Canadian Citizenship and clean criminal record.

Familiar with the use and interpretation of Canadian Code Books and Industry Standards (TSSA, CAN ULC, ESA , ASTM, ASHRAE , NFPA etc.)
Possess and maintain a safe driving record.
Comprehensive experience reading specifications, drawings, and other associated project documentation.
Able to assist in the coordination and maintenance of an applied program for Quality Control.
Public Works and Government Services Canada, Level 2 Secret clearance will be required which includes 10 years Canadian Citizenship and clean criminal record.

BE Power Equipment is a leading manufacturer of pressure washers, air compressors, generators and water pumps serving industrial markets in over 30 countries. Headquartered in Abbotsford, BC, our third generation, family-owned business is focused on designing quality products and delivering exceptional service.

We are currently looking for a Quality Control (QC) Manager to join our team. The Quality Control Manager is responsible for leading and overseeing all quality control functions within our manufacturing facility. This role ensures that all products meet or exceed internal and customer quality standards while maintaining compliance with applicable regulatory and industry requirements. The QC Manager develops and implements effective quality control systems, leads a team of technicians, and collaborates cross-functionally with Production, Engineering, and Supply Chain teams to ensure product consistency, reduce non-conformance, and drive continuous improvement across operations.

Requirements

  • Provide strategic leadership to the Quality Control department in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Develop and implement quality control systems, procedures, and metrics to ensure compliance with internal standards, industry regulations (e.g., ISO 9001), and customer expectations.
  • Manage daily QC operations, including inspections, audits, sampling, and testing procedures for raw materials, in-process production, and finished goods.
  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of quality control technicians, including hiring, training, performance evaluation, and professional development.
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for quality performance; analyze trends and implement corrective and preventive actions to drive improvement.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for quality-related issues, including customer complaints, product returns, and internal deviations.
  • Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to address quality concerns.
  • Collaborate with Production and Engineering to ensure new product introductions (NPIs) and changes are validated and meet quality requirements.
  • Oversee calibration and maintenance of inspection and testing equipment to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Maintain audit readiness and lead internal and external quality audits, including certification and customer audits.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, or other methodologies to enhance process and product quality.
  • Develop and maintain training programs to ensure quality awareness across production teams.

What we are looking for in a successful candidate:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality Management, or a related technical field (required).
  • 5+ years of progressive quality control experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • 2+ years of supervisory or management experience leading quality teams.
  • Strong understanding of ISO 9001 standards and other relevant quality systems.
  • Experience with root cause analysis, corrective action processes, and CAPA systems.
  • In-depth knowledge of manufacturing processes, quality control methodologies, and inspection techniques.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; data-driven decision-maker.
  • Familiar with ERP/MRP systems and quality modules (e.g., SAP, Epicor, Oracle).
  • Effective communicator with the ability to influence cross-functional teams.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
  • Certification in Lean, Six Sigma (Green/Black Belt), or ASQ Certified Quality Manager is a strong asset.
