As a Quality Specialist, you will report directly to the Quality Manager, and will administer the Company Quality Plan. **Responsibilities**
+ Maintain a high level of understanding of company standards and guidelines.

+ Facilitate quality presentations.
+ Disseminate quality information in the office and on the intranet, send results to managers on a weekly basis, write monthly articles for company newsletter, present information at department discipline meetings, etc.
+ Mentor other Project Quality Specialists as required.
+ Draft and maintain a Project Quality Plan for any given project including the Quality activities required on a project and associated metrics.
+ In regards to Suppliers, the Quality Specialist is responsible for:
+ Collaborating with the supplier to identify Quality requirements.
+ Performing Quality Kick-Off meetings with the supplier to explain project Quality Management.
+ Auditing the supplier to determine if required Quality records submitted.
+ Participating in weekly coordination meetings to resolve Quality issues.
+ Ensuring that all Quality issues are resolved before the release of the final payment.
**Qualifications**
+ Ability to travel and relocate as needed.
+ Bachelor's degree and/or ten years of related experience in Quality preferably within a heavy civil and industrial contractor and/or an engineering/quality consultancy.
+ Experience in a project management type environment; specific experience in Kiewit-related projects such as mass transit, transportation, power, oil & gas, mining and heavy industrial would be an asset.
+ ASQ Audit certification is preferred.
+ Experience with word processing, spreadsheet and database applications required.
+ Strong critical thinking skills.

Raytheon ELCAN is looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Supplier Quality Specialist to help ensure our suppliers meet the highest standards in performance, compliance, and delivery. + Participate in supplier evaluation and selection by conducting assessments and audits of potential suppliers.

**Qualifications we are looking for:**

**Position Overview:**
The Supplier Quality Specialist (SQS) performs a critical role in developing new and existing suppliers, assessing supplier quality performance and ensuring that products are received free of defects. The SQS is the liaison between our supply chain management team, quality team, and suppliers to investigate, analyze and resolve supplier quality related issues by conducting audits, analyzing trend defects and leading continuous improvement initiatives. The SQS will assess the supplier's capability to meet contractual needs, will measure their performance during the contracting period, and will work with suppliers to identify challenges whilst looking to improve the working relationship. The SQS will also ensure the right levels of contact to ensure that the relationship remains on track for both parties, in order to get the best result for BWXT.

**Your Day to Day:**
+ Evaluate and communicate on a regular basis the quality performance of key suppliers.
+ Generation of supplier scorecards.
+ Collaborate with cross functional teams to determine any trends and identify opportunity for improvement.
+ Implement and assign supplier corrective action plans to satisfy opportunities.
+ Work with purchasing team to quickly resolve vendor issues.

**Required Qualifications:**
+ University or college level education in quality assurance, engineering, or technology.
+ Certified quality technician (CQT) or quality engineer (CQE) via the American Society of Quality is preferred.

+ A minimum 5 years of experience managing supplier quality relationships.
+ Previous experience building positive relationships with suppliers is preferred.

+ Ability to interpret and comprehend quality documentation including reports pertaining to non-destructive testing (NDT), dimensional inspection, coordinate measuring machine (CMM) reports, material test reports (MTR), certificates of conformance (C of C) etc.
+ Lead formal (8-D or 5 why) root cause investigations.
+ Basic knowledge of dimensional and weld inspection techniques.
+ Proficient in MS Office applications.

• Performs audits by testing and measuring parts and applying experience, knowledge, and judgement to ascertain the acceptability of parts, including SPC data entry and analysis.
• Audit quality alerts, measurements, and testing ensure that all comply with all requirements, followed by operations.
• Prepares and submits test results and reject reports to the Customer Quality Specialist, Quality Supervisor, and Quality Manager, and maintains and files records, ensuring document control and the correctness of data; all appropriate paperwork is completed, filed, and retrievable.
• Participate in the problem resolution process (input) in resolving quality concerns of internal and external customers, as well as feedback on the viability of improvements.
• Audit Team Leader records correct lot traceability, and the maintenance of records pertaining to traceability is properly recorded and completed per Dortec quality protocol.
• Ensure rejected parts in assigned areas or lines are segregated, identified, and quarantined following the DMN/QPF process and timely follow-up of disposition using the containment work sheet.
• Audit, if any, reworked parts, or salvaged components to meet all specified requirements per rework instructions, including lot traceability, prior to reintroduction into the production system. Containment worksheets are included in the required audits.
• Responsible for escalating information and data on processes or parts not meeting established quality requirements to the customer quality specialist, quality supervisor, and/or quality manager per Dortec Quality Protocol
• Participate in and conduct Layered Process Audits (LPAs) as per the scheduled release and follow up on any action items found during the audit.
• Audit daily to ensure that operators and TL are performing quality inspections as per Quality Alert instructions.
• If required, support training new personnel in quality control inspection and investigation techniques, including third-party inspectors.
• Identify and be able to react to any anomalies in control characteristics (LV).
• Audit/address in real time high scrap/NVA inspection/review and audit third party inspection
• Participate in a VAVE cost-saving activity.

Qualifications and Skills

• Completion of post-secondary education in Quality or Engineering related field preferred

• Blueprint reading skills and knowledgeable of SPC and correct measuring techniques.
• Above average computer skills necessary in Microsoft applications. Team Center, Compliant Pro & Minitab experience an asset.
