The purpose of this Chair is to support the work of emerging researchers, and to support the development of quantum engineering, identified as an important emerging field in ETS's Strategic Research Plan.

MEIE Research Chair in Quantum Computing

This seven-year Research Chair is worth $100,000 per year, and contributes to the full funding of the Chairholder's research work.

The incumbent must have demonstrated significant research potential, as well as the ability to collaborate effectively in interdisciplinary research teams and with industry.

Then consideration for complementary fields, including :

Requirements
  • Must hold a doctoral degree (Ph.D.) in engineering or a related field. An engineering degree is an asset.
  • Must have industry experience or experience conducting research in close collaboration with industry (if the candidate does not have related industry experience, then such experience may be substituted by solid R&D experience, or the candidate must agree to acquire such experience through an industrial practicum).
  • Must demonstrate excellent research skills;

Technical Skills: Solid understanding of quantum computing concepts, quantum computing architectures, and ideally photonic technologies. Experience with quantum programming (Qiskit, Perceval, Cirq, etc.) is a plus.

Soft Skills: Excellent communication and pedagogical skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Languages: Fluency in French and English is essential.
