This role is a rare opportunity to join a large-scale natural resource development project from the earliest stages of construction and play a direct role in securing the approvals that will enable its long-term success. As a permanent employee versus an external consultant, you will influence the project’s strategic direction and growth by ensuring it meets all regulatory requirements on time and with the highest level of quality.
Remote / WFH / Hybrid: Hybrid in Vancouver, Victoria, BC or 100% remote.
Travel: Minimal, some site visits
Salary: $115k - $165k DOE, plus health benefits, RRSP matching, annual bonuses (The final salary will reflect the qualifications, relevant experience, expertise, and professional designations that each candidate brings to the role. Individuals who offer additional strengths or bring exceptional value to the team will be considered for compensation beyond the stated range, as our client recognizes and rewards unique contributions.)
What Success Looks Like:
Within this role, your performance will be measured by your ability to:
- Secure all major project approvals on schedule and within budget, ensuring zero delays to the project construction and operations timelines.
- Deliver complete, high-quality regulatory applications that consistently receive positive feedback from regulators and require minimal resubmissions.
- Develop and maintain a permit tracking system that provides accurate, real-time information on the status of all applications for the development team.
- Manage external consultants and internal teams so that deliverables meet or exceed expectations on cost, quality, and timelines.
- Proactively identify and resolve permitting risks, ensuring the project maintains compliance with regulatory obligations across all phases (development, operation, closure).
- Strengthen relationships with regulators, Indigenous communities, and other stakeholders, resulting in productive partnerships and positive reputation outcomes for the project.
- Integrate environmental management plans and auditing practices that reduce non-compliance findings and demonstrate continuous improvement in environmental performance.
- Submit and achieve approval for all priority Mines Act (MA), Water Sustainability Act (WSA), Environmental Management Act (EMA) applications and amendments required for early construction activities.
- Establish a clear and auditable process for tracking, reporting, and fulfilling regulatory commitments and permit conditions.
- Provide measurable technical support to the community relations team that improves engagement outcomes with Indigenous and non-Indigenous communities.
- Lead or support strategic initiatives in water quality management, biodiversity, terrestrial effects, and mine closure planning with measurable risk reduction.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Biology, Environmental Science, or related field; professional registration (EP, P.Ag, R.P.Bio, or equivalent) preferred.
- 5+ years experience in regulatory approvals and compliance, preferably within mining.
- Proven ability to lead complex permitting processes and manage multiple, concurrent applications (e.g., Notices of Work, MA/EMA amendments, WSA, Fisheries Act authorizations).
- Track record of meeting deadlines and budgets on major permitting initiatives.
- Strong technical writing, data analysis, and project management skills.
- Experience building and maintaining positive relationships with regulators, Indigenous groups, and other external stakeholders.
- Working knowledge in water treatment and aquatic disciplines, as well as environmental assessment legislation, is considered a strong asset.
- Willingness to travel to the project site to integrate with on-site teams and stakeholders.

Our Senior Regulatory Compliance Specialist will work alongside the Director to ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, providing information to the business on regulatory matters, manage issues related to labelling and advertising, and more.

THINGS YOU WILL DO…
- Review and streamline processes and systems to improve management of compliance activities
- Work in a team environment to manage projects and onboard suppliers
- Remain current and drive regulatory updates on all company labelling standards and policies
- Participate in resolving regulatory issues raised by customers, consumers, and government agencies and initiate corrective actions
- Work with the Director to standardize compliance processes and document templates
- Support the development of product and internal labelling standards, policies, and guidelines
- Develop accurate label copy and review advertising ensuring both meet appropriate standards and policies
- Manage all regulatory affairs related documents to ensure accuracy and implementing updates
- Manage customer and supplier documentations to ensure compliance and help resolve issues
- Work with the QA team to provide direction on claims for new products with customer consideration

Join Our Team as a Regulatory and Compliance Specialist at Epiroc!
Responsibilities:
* Lead compliance for Epiroc's next generation battery platform. Ensure the design team is following relevant standards, and the products will be compliant when released.
* Interpret, summarize, and communicate current and future standards to the engineering teams.
* Actively monitor the industrial battery industry to maintain a strong up to date understanding of regulatory standards, regulations, and compliance as it pertains to mining in key Epiroc markets.
* Lead compliance risk assessments, and compliance gap analysis.
* Assist marketing by performing compliance checks with select markets/regions.
* Work with key suppliers to ensure their products and components meet both Epiroc's internal standards, and also the regulatory standards required for our key markets.
Your profile:
* Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering. Others relevant/relatedfields may be considered as well.
- Certification or specialized training in regulatory compliance andproduct compliance preferred.- 5+ years of regulatory/compliance experience preferred, 2+ year required.
* Experience with a product cycle development cycle is an asset.
* Experience with high voltage batteries, EV chargers, and stationary energy storage in beneficial.
* Proficiency in compliance related tools such as Polarion, Doors,Jama, etc.
* Familiarity and experience with regulatory bodies and related standards such as ISO, IEEE, UL, CSA, CE, AS/NZS, etc.
* Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to articulate complex ideas and concepts clearly.
* Strong interpersonal skills to foster collaboration and build relationships with the engineering design teams.
* Ability to prioritize tasks, handle multiple projects simultaneously, and work under pressure.
* Problem-solving skills to anticipate and mitigate risks, resolve issues, and adapt to changing circumstances.
* Flexibility to adapt to changing project requirements, timelines, and priorities.
