Oak Valley Health (OVH) is on a journey to becoming a leading community academic centre of choice. This is a three-year term position.

Reporting to the Senior Director, Academics, the ideal candidate is a seasoned methodologist with an entrepreneurial spirt and experience designing and conducting research on implementation science, knowledge translation and quality improvement. In addition to pursuing their own successful scientific work, the Research Scientist will support and mentor emerging researchers in designing and conducting research, analyzing and interpreting data using statistical methods, developing and implement new research methodologies, writing research reports and scientific publications, collaborating with other researchers and scientists and presenting their findings at conferences and workshops.

Qualifications:

  • A Ph.D. or equivalent in a field relevant to healthcare
  • Expertise in research methodology relevant to healthcare
  • Experience with statistical analysis software
  • Knowledge of research ethics and regulatory requirements
  • Familiarity with scientific literature databases and search tools
  • Experience mentoring emerging researchers
  • Demonstrated success in obtaining external research funding through grants and partnerships

- University. M.Sc. – Food Science or equivalent is a strong asset
- Minimum of 5 - 7 years of product development experience in the food industry preferably in Vitamins and Minerals
- Commercial Sales experience is an asset
- Must have strong oral/written communication and good interpersonal skills
- Must have strong presentation skills

**Position Overview**
The Simulation, Optimization and Systems (SOS) group within Autodesk Research is seeking an exceptionally talented and experienced Scientific Leader to join our team. We are focused on advancing the state-of-the-art design tools to allow architects, artists, designers, and engineers to " _Make Anything_ ". Our research centers around generative methods for design and spans physics-based modeling, simulation, optimization and systems modeling. You will lead and help build build a group focusing on the future of physics informed AI. Your group will work closely experts in geometric modeling, simulation, systems, robotics, high-performance computing, machine learning, sensing, computer vision, industrial manufacturing and construction.
The Physics Informed AI group will be specifically focused on researching and implementing novel algorithms for physics informed machine learning for use in design and engineering tools. We are interested in a scientific leader to help guide and direct research into physics-based generative models, surrogate models, data assimilation & digital twins, physics-based reasoning and the interpretation of physical results using AI.
**Responsibilities**
+ Identify, recruit and hire a team of scientists in Physics Informed AI with a focus on design
+ Work closely with a multi-disciplinary team of research scientists and engineers to conceive, plan, develop, and implement scientific research projects
+ Direct & perform research on machine learning models combining physics simulation and measurement data
+ Manage a team, perform bi-annual evaluations, plan development, coach, mentor and connect your personnel to academic communities and throughout the company
+ Publish papers in peer-reviewed scientific journals/conferences
+ Supervise researchers, engineers and interns (undergrad, Masters, PhD or Post-docs)
+ Document and communicate the intent and the results of projects in clear terms to both technical and non-technical team audiences
+ Present research findings at conferences and participate in research collaborations with external research institutes and universities
+ Communicate and promote the use of research findings throughout Autodesk
+ Consult with product teams on the implementation of research findings into products
**Minimum Qualifications**
+ Ph.D. or MSc. 12+ years experience in Computer Science, Engineering, Physics or Applied Mathematics
+ Extensive experience with Physics Informed Machine learning models
+ Experience authoring physics-based solvers eg; fluids, thermal, structural, kinematic
+ Strong publication history in relevant conferences and journals
+ Proven track record as a practitioner of ML, creating, training and leading groups that can build and train models at scale
+ Excellent written and oral communication skills
+ Excellent knowledge of Numerical Methods
+ Ability to quickly learn new technologies and adapt to new situations
+ Ability to collaborate effectively with a diverse, multicultural global team of scientists, engineers and architects
**Preferred Qualifications**
+ Knowledge of geometry and topology
+ Experience training large-scale, multi-modal models and ensembles
+ Familiar with collaborative development environments and version control systems
+ Experience with:
+ 2D and 3D computer graphics programming
+ Visualization techniques
+ Bayesian statistics
+ NVIDIA Warp and/or JAX, NVIDIA Modulus or similar
+ Pytorch, Pytorch Lightning, Weights & Biases, Ray, AWS Sagemaker
+ Experience training diverse architectures: CNNs, GNNs, Diffusion models, Contrastive learning, Transformers, LLMs, RNNs etc. at scale
+ Koopman, DMD, SINDy, Fourier Neural Operators, PINNs etc.
+ Computer Vision
+ Python, C++, Rust
+ OpenMP, Clang, SIMD, etc.

**Salary transparency**
Salary is one part of Autodesk's competitive compensation package. For U.S.-based roles, we expect a starting base salary between $199,900 and $323,400. Offers are based on the candidate's experience and geographic location, and may exceed this range. In addition to base salaries, we also have a significant emphasis on annual cash bonuses, commissions for sales roles, stock grants, and a comprehensive benefits package.

Job Summary

This research assistant position will provide research-oriented support to the BC Injury Research and Prevention Unit.

The RA will:

  • Coordinate the execution of projects, assuring they are done in an efficient manner, that they adhere to project protocols, that they conform to applicable institutional and ethical policies and procedures and privacy legislation, and that they are completed within the required timelines.
  • Actively support the management and facilitation of time-limited projects and programs to identify best practice-grounded strategies and activities for health professionals, policy/decision makers, and the public in research, practice, and policy.
  • In collaboration with the Research Coordinator, conduct systematic reviews to identify and synthesize research on sports injuries.

Organizational Status

The research assistant will report to the Project Coordinator, and to the Director of the BC Injury Research and Prevention Unit.

Work Performed

  • Identifies, collects, and analyzes relevant information and injury data relating to current projects.
  • Conducts systematic reviews including but not limited to: title and abstract screening, full-text review, quality assessment, and data extraction.
  • Prepares documents summarizing research results including reports, graphs, tables, and summaries.
  • Assist in preparation of manuscripts, presentations, and posters.
  • Provides input and recommendations to project team for development, implementation, analysis, dissemination of findings, and policy/practice implications.
  • Presents project updates to internal stakeholder groups, external agencies, organizations, and other stakeholders as needed.
  • Assists with the dissemination of information and knowledge related to projects and key programs and initiatives under the identified priority areas through a variety of vehicles.
  • Performing other related duties as required including work on other BCIRPU projects.

Consequence of Error/Judgement

All work performed by the research assistant will be reviewed by the Project Coordinator. Inappropriate judgment or error on the part of the research assistant will result in wasted time and money. Inadequate workmanship will reflect poorly on the project staff and may impact the sustainability of the project.

Supervision Received

The research assistant will report primarily to the Project Coordinator. It is expected that the research assistant be able to work independently and be pro-active in identifying challenges to the progress of the project.

Supervision Given

The research assistant may support the coordination and supervision of staff or students assisting in large or complex projects.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Completion of a relevant technical program or a university degree in a relevant discipline and a minimum three years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Willingness to respect diverse perspectives, including perspectives in conflict with one's own
  • Demonstrates a commitment to enhancing one's own awareness, knowledge, and skills related to equity, diversity, and inclusion

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to effectively use MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and reference management software.
  • Ability to summarize, synthesize, and present research results effectively.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgement while adhering to protocols.
  • Effective organizational and time management skills.
  • Effective oral and written communication, interpersonal, and multitasking skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, for both academic and community audiences.
  • Ability to work both independently, pro-actively, and within a team environment.
  • Attentive to detail, with the ability to work quickly and accurately.
  • Experience with project evaluation, database management, online literature searches, conducting systematic reviews, and web-based applications an asset.
