As Construction Research Scientist in the Construction Research Industry Futures team, you will be doing fundamental and applied research that will help our customers imagine, design, and make a better world.
As a member of the Industry Futures team, you will be working side-by-side with world-class researchers and engineers to build new AI driven construction workflows that will help our customers imagine, design, and make a better world. The Industry Futures team is active in the wider research community and has developed active collaboration with academia and industry leaders in the field of construction.
You are a research scientist specialized in construction and have expertise in AI, Machine Learning, LLM. You have experience training large machine learning models with distributed deep learning. Your skills span across the design of large machine learning models, running large scale experiments informed by scaling laws, and optimizing data and compute GPU throughput to perform efficient model training. You are passionate about solving problems and building things. You are excited to collaborate with industry partners to build leading edge features in Autodesk products. You are a good communicator and comfortable working at the intersection of research & product. This role is ideal for a PhD student with a keen interest in advanced technology development and a passion for enhancing the experience for construction professionals.
The location of this role is in Toronto and remotely. Autodesk is a flexible hybrid-first company, allowing workers to work remotely, in an office, or a mix of both.
**Responsibilities**
+ Investigate cutting-edge hardware, software, and experiential solutions that can improve the way construction personas receive and act on insights
+ Research and implement experiences to test new technologies and approaches to construction insights delivery, tailoring them to the specific needs and challenges faced on construction sites
+ Assess the effectiveness of new tools and methods, analyzing their impact on worker performance and site operations to refine and enhance their utility
+ Work closely with a team of researchers, engineers, and external partners toward research, development, and testing of these solutions
+ Lead the development and scaling of machine learning models at the intersection of research and product
+ Writing robust, testable code that is well documented and easy to understand
+ Analyze errors and provide solutions to problems that arise

**Minimum Qualifications**
+ PhD in Computer Science, Data Science, Construction, Architecture, Civil Engineering, or a related field
+ 3 to 5 years of AI research experience in the construction sector
+ Understanding of AI/ML concepts, with hands-on experience in training and fine-tuning models using frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow
+ Experience with Generative AI tools such as GPT, DALL-E, Gemini, and a solid understanding of underlying Machine Learning pipelines
+ Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
+ Creative, flexible, and enjoy working with new technology Experience in coding (C++, Python.)
+ Experience with cloud services & architectures (AWS, Azure, etc.)
+ Excellent written communication skills to document code, architectures, and experiments

+ Knowledge of the design, manufacturing, AEC, or media & entertainment industries

+ Develop and lead research on novel ML models for structured generation and multi-modal understanding of complex visual and spatial content

The Simulation, Optimization and Systems (SOS) group within Autodesk Research is seeking an exceptionally talented and experienced Scientific Leader to join our team. We are focused on advancing the state-of-the-art design tools to allow architects, artists, designers, and engineers to " _Make Anything_ ". Our research centers around generative methods for design and spans physics-based modeling, simulation, optimization and systems modeling. You will lead and help build build a group focusing on the future of physics informed AI. Your group will work closely experts in geometric modeling, simulation, systems, robotics, high-performance computing, machine learning, sensing, computer vision, industrial manufacturing and construction.
The Physics Informed AI group will be specifically focused on researching and implementing novel algorithms for physics informed machine learning for use in design and engineering tools. We are interested in a scientific leader to help guide and direct research into physics-based generative models, surrogate models, data assimilation & digital twins, physics-based reasoning and the interpretation of physical results using AI.
**Responsibilities**
+ Identify, recruit and hire a team of scientists in Physics Informed AI with a focus on design
+ Work closely with a multi-disciplinary team of research scientists and engineers to conceive, plan, develop, and implement scientific research projects
+ Direct & perform research on machine learning models combining physics simulation and measurement data
+ Manage a team, perform bi-annual evaluations, plan development, coach, mentor and connect your personnel to academic communities and throughout the company
+ Publish papers in peer-reviewed scientific journals/conferences
+ Supervise researchers, engineers and interns (undergrad, Masters, PhD or Post-docs)

**Minimum Qualifications**
